i hate the wings in ot. we never seem to come away with it. dats still doing nothing. 1 goal in his last 17 games. jesus. that averages out to fewer than 5 goals in an 82 game season. he's devolving into draper. no better time to turn around our horrid playoff ot record! flip with the winner.

who should we blame if not him. every star player gets extra attention this time of year. some rise above and establish themselves as somebody the team can count on when it really matters, some crumble... nobody else is responsible for datsyuk and his production (or lack there of). if he can't respond well to tighter, more physical coverage and find a way to produce anyway, then it makes his hart candidacy almost embarrassing. he was compared this season to malkin, ovechkin, crosby, etc. look at what those guys have done these playoffs. they've led their teams. datsyuk has fallen off the face of the earth. he's one of the most talented players in the nhl, no doubt about it, but there have been concerns about his play in the post season throughout his career. he played well the last two years, so clearly he's capable. but his inconsistency this time of year really brings into question his ability to perform under pressure.

datsyuk is paid to find a way to get pucks in the net. that's why he makes the big bucks. i don't care what excuses people make for him, if he's not putting up points, he's not doing his job. great players find a way to get it done, and he isn't. 5 points in 12 games is unacceptable from a 97 point player in the regular season. he's lucky as hell the rest of the team has decided to carry him on their backs. on most other teams, a performance like this from your best offensive player would send the team packing. that said, he had a great defensive showing today.

great game today!! wings controlled play from cleary's goal onward. 3 more of those please. too bad dats still has his thumb buried in his ass, but we didn't need him anyway.

WOO HOO!!!!! just watched the game (recorded)! god, this feels great. there's not team in the league that i like beating even close to as much as i like beating the ducks!! it's weird to say it, but this victory feels about as good as winning the cup last year. one thing's for sure, this series was far tougher than any series the wings played en route to their cup last year. WOO!!!!!!! :thumbup:

he'll exact his revenge with some sweet stickhandling all the way into the zone, getting knocked off the puck by pronger or niederweiner, and promptly skating back to the bench for a shift change; shift after shift after shift after shift... you get the idea. they'll be sorry, that's for sure.

that's one plus about dats right now. if it had been any other of our european forwards they'd probably be out with a fractured jaw or a concussion right now.

his point is valid. datsyuk's primary job is to score. he is doing his job terribly.

we need dats to do the big things that matter. that's his role. he is supposed to carry, or at least help carry this team when it needs it. that's why he's here. we need him to do the big things that matter. he might only have one more game this year to answer the call, and a big reason for that is because he hasn't been pulling his weight.

lol. yeah, i can't even put into words how disappointing he's been this post season. i don't like to call him out, but he's been the most under-performing wing by far. he is supposed to lead our offense, that's his job, that's why he's making the big bucks, and he's sitting at, what, 20th or so on team scoring. that's team scoring, not league scoring. it's just inexcusable. if we're sent packing thursday it's going to fall on him. everybody else, with the possible exception of hossa, is doing their job.

exactly. datsyuk is embarrassing himself. hart candidates: 16, 20, and 4 points. playoffs are when you separate the men from the boys. datsyuk seems intent on being a boy.

datsyuk did just fine with holmstrom on his line this whole season. zetterberg is putting up poinst no matter who he plays with. datsyuk is the offensive juggernaut of this team. he needs to find a way to score. that's his job. people can make excuses for him all day long. first it was hossa. hossa moves off his line, z's on, pav still isn't doing s***. meanwhile, zetterberg keeps scoring.

dats should take a long look at zetterberg, franzen, or getzlaf for that matter. these guys are monsters in the playoffs. datsyuk has been a mouse. it was his reputation early in his career. he's come through somewhat the last few years, but now he's under-performing worse than ever. great players come through when their team needs them. datsyuk hasn't done that once these playoffs. it's ridiculous.

it's not the ducks, dats was worthless in the jackets series, too. he's buckled under the pressure. no excuses. if we get booted this round, dats will shoulder a ton of the blame. 97 points in the regular season, 4 points (1 goal) in 10 games in the playoffs. no excuses. he needs to get his s*** together.

great game from the wings. start to finish, just like we needed. we carried play the entire game. awesome!!! better yet, getzlaf didn't get a ******* point. datsyuk still not pulling his weight, but he looked better tonight.

we still blaming hossa for datsyuk's lack of production? looks like it was dats dragging down hossa, not the other way around.

who says he plays much better without hossa. he scored plenty with hossa on his line in the regular season. he's not getting it done now. i don't care if he's hurt, everybody is hurt. he needs to buck up and start leading this team. right now he might as well be on the fourth line.

so dats having hossa on his line is hindrance? datsyuk's production these playoffs is inexcusable. there's no excuse, especially that he's playing with hossa. if we lose this series, datsyuk will shoulder a ton of the blame. your leading scorer putting up three points in seven games in the playoffs ain't gonna cut it. he's looking more and more like he can't handle the pressure. he looks like he did in '06 and before. trying to do everything himself, turning the puck over because he's trying to beat everybody on the ducks team. he's not a threat. i don't care how good the shut down line is on the ducks. it's no excuse. if your best player isn't your best player, he deserves most of the blame for the loss. datsyuk hasn't been close to our best player this series or most of last series. he is choking, plain and simple.

getzlaf has 6 points in three games. i'd hardly call that neutralized. he's pretty much doing what he wants out there.
