Are Power Forwards a dying breed?

I think you have to kind of accept the fact that not all big guys in this league will fight in today's game, but a guy can still demand respect on the ice in other ways. Rick Nash is a prime example of a power forward in today's game, if you leave him off your list then your list is simply wrong. He uses his body to create scoring opportunities more than anyone else in the league right now. Rick Nash Ryan Getzlaf Milan Lucic Dustin Byfuglien Bobby Ryan Ryan Malone Dustin Brown Anthony Stewart/Chris Stewart I think there are a lot of up and coming guys like the Stewart brothers who could be mentioned but haven't done enough to deserve it yet

possible fill ins for leaving FA's

so is Maltby, Draper, and Holmstrom but they still play limited roles on the team... Shanahan can score enough to play 3rd/4th line and he is still respected and like I said, if necessary, can fight.... he can play 4th line and possibly use his shot on the PP if we need it he outscored Kopecky in half the amount of games and tied Datsyuk in playoff goals

possible fill ins for leaving FA's

I'd love to have Shanny back and agree with most your points. For REALLY cheap I think he can bring a lot more than other guys can at that price. First and foremost, it's a limited role on the 3rd or 4th line. He's a right-handed shot and still knows how to score, if we're desperate for a righty on the PP his shot is more accurate than Samuelsson's. Like you said he knows how to win and just having his presence on the team would be positive. He also brings a toughness element although he's far from a power forward nowadays but he still demands respect when he's on the ice and has shown he has the fighting ability to fight ANYBODY, if he feels necessary. No commitments or promises, something cheap like he had last year, 1 year deal, unless we sign Hossa and are right against the cap I think it's a great idea.

3 tap in goals, a nice penalty shot, and an ordinary breakaway goal that vid didn't really show me much

    Draft Day Trade Rumours

I really hope the Leafs are able to land one of Kane/Schenn and then Kassian with a later pick, that'd be awesome

    Samuelsson Selling His House?

He's a filler, plain and simple, a pretty good filler I'll give him that much... but you can't really use stats to determine what he brings to the team, sure he'll score like 15 goals a year but look at the opportunities he gets. He plays a lot with the scoring lines and sees a ton of PP time... he's also given the red light to shoot whenever he friggen wants, if you factor in the amount of turnovers and wasted opportunities this guy has per season....his 15 goals all of a sudden doesn't seem all that impressive I don't HATE the guy...... but I really don't like him, hopefully Leino can take his spot and we can save some money that way

Neil turns down 4-year, $6.8M contract from Sens

no doubt that line would energize the Joe and make games a lot more entertaining.....unfortunately that is not a concern of the greater powers

    Mark Bell

He still put up numbers in the AHL last year so no doubt he can still play if given a limited role... I think he would be a great pick up but I won't hold my breath

  19. nothing to do with the fact they're all physical two-way Canadian players I'd imagine eh... butthurt? I'll tell you one thing, Kane, Schenn, and Cowen will all have much, much better careers than Tatar, Rajala, Svensson-Paajarvi
  20. Isn't it obvious by now that the Wings don't consider Filppula and Hudler "equal caliber players"? And Helm had 4 goals in the playoff, Kopecky had 5 & 6 in his last two full seasons... I think it's safe to say Helm is better in all facets of the game
  21. Kassian is far and away my #1 choice, but a realistic power forward who may be available at 29 is Carter Ashton, 6'3 200, 30 goals this year in the WHL

    NHL Awards Discussion Thread

Your opinion is that an NHL great is a "douchebag" because he has a speech problem. Do you feel the same way about Konstantinov? I'm leaving this thread now but just wanted to let you know, again, you're an idiot. You joined June 3rd eh... welcome to the site.

You're an idiot to call an NHL great a "douchebag" at an awards show, plain and simple. Just shut up.
