cool life story but i live in 2009 and understand that nothing said on the ice has any real meaning whatsoever other than saying trying to take your opponent off his game but again, cool life story -

i'm saying it's obvious that someone hasn't played competitive hockey when they are offended by something like this, if you played competitively, you'd understand it's not a big deal, that's really all there is to it, so sure i'm going to point it out if some bonehead wants to bring RACE into trash talk ON THE ICE then let them who the f*** cares, is the NHL not full of grown men being made millions of dollars to play hockey? if i was black and someone called me a n____ (don't want to cause an uproar, lol), i'f take it as a cry for help and a last ditch effort to try and take me off my game... same deal for cancer, i'm really sure jason blake, who has battled through CANCER, is REALLY going to be rattled when some random nobody like alex burrows tells him "you have cancer!" ... so as far as my answer towards that, there you have it... grown men... professional athletes... been through it their entire life... thick skin... but obviously you wouldn't understand because you've never touched the ice in your life -

well you're not an elite agitator making millions in the NHL so fortunately for the entertainment value of the game, you're opinion means nothing -

you may think family is off limit when it comes to chirping but avery, burrows, ott, etc. don't, there's always someone willing to go that extra little bit... it always amazes me when people act like they are shocked because something cruel was said, the fact that it happened in a hockey game with absolutely no real meaning whatsoever other than to razzle the other player a little bit is just bonus... get over it lol -

That's exactly it though, Boston is known as a tough, intimidating team who doesn't back down from anything but Laraque is doing everything he possibly can to prove they aren't. No way should Laraque lay off Lucic and just continue "playing hockey" because that's not his game and therefore he'd be almost useless. It's not like Georges is taking bad penalties or anything, he's just trying to get into their heads and although they aren't winning, it has been working at times. It's got to be tough for a 20 year old kid who is known as the biggest and baddest guy around to constantly back down from someone bigger and badder in their own barn. Most Boston fans know what's going on too, they know no one is willing to step up to Laraque and that's got to be a bit demoralizing for them because that's the kind of hockey they love. The last regular season game between the two teams Boston absolutely hammered Montreal all over the ice and Lucic ended up beating on a turtling Komisarek and it was just not pretty, Laraque wasn't dressed that game and that kind of stuff hasn't happened since. Whether Laraque is in Lucic's head or not it's impossible to tell but it's not everyday Lucic has to take a major cross checking penalty on a guy and earn a 1 game suspension to prove he is still the big, bad Milan Lucic we all know and love. And I agree absolutely Thornton OR Chara should be the one to go after Laraque, not Lucic. Can't really blame them for dodging him right now because the Bruins are winning but if Montreal is ever up in a game by a couple of goals, I'd be disappointed to see Thornton turn down Laraque after all the s*** that has happened between the 2 teams. Laraque is doing everything he possibly can to give Montreal the edge in the series... he's not going to go out every shift and hammer guys because he's incapable of doing that but his presence is there every night and don't be fooled thinking it hasn't effected Boston at all because it definitely has.

Laraque has been playing great this entire series... there's a reason he's on a line with Kovalev and Koivu. He's been going to the net for the screen and cycling down low, he had a lot of chances in games 1 and 2 and he's a pretty intimidating guy, no one on the Bruins wants anything to do with him. Laraque's biggest knock is that he's a slow skater and rarely connects with his hits but that can't be said last night when he plastered Lucic into the boards with a brutal, clean hit.

I love how the Canucks clear the front of the net... you can tell they don't even want anyone breathing on Luongo

who do you guys think is currently the better all around defenseman, Jonathan Ericsson or Victor Hedman?
-
You mean bench fillers. No one in their right mind would buy a seat ticket to watch either of those guys.

he's not tough by any means but he's not just another swede *****, he's pretty strong and good two-way... he was pretty impressive in the WJ's this year

I see Ericsson and Abdelkader at about 3 fights a year as well. Players typically fight a bit more when they are younger and trying to sell themselves or find their identity. But then again there are always exceptions...
