why is Downey a *****? if Downey didn't prove to Red Wings fans that he is capable of enforcing and capable of fighting quality opponents last year then there is no hope for you... you're more than likely just a negative person and always need something to ***** about. Roy, Shelley, Fedoruk, Walker, Parros are all legit heavyweights that Downey held his own with last year, there's about maybe 15 guys who I'd rank ahead of Downey on the NHL heavyweight list, that's not a bad ratio when you consider the amount he's better than, and half of those 15 are too slow to ever do some real damage through a hit. If the argument is that Downey can't skate then that's a whole different story, but to say he is a horrible fighter or a ***** is just plain dumb, you're dumb.

Chris Neil is THE IDEAL forward for this team right now... with 1 single addition we have a great forechecking line, an enforcer, and an alternative scoring threat when the skill game just isn't working. He's the closest thing to a prime Darren McCarty in the league right now.

Boston will be a force down the road for sure... Lucic is f'in huge, I could see him filling out to 240 easy if he chose to.. then they pick up Blake Wheeler for free this offseason who's a beast too, he's about 6'4 215 or so

Everyone has a price, we just have to be willing to give up some of our own assets... since the lock out I keep hearing that none of the players who fight are available when really a ton have come and gone every single season. A guy like Milan Lucic is not just going to fall into our lap but it's not impossible to acquire a player who plays his style.

if McCarty plays I'm definitely not complaining.. but it's silly that he will be used as the 13th forward and inserted only when other players are injured.. I mean if the team is not going to utilize an enforcer properly throughout the season, why not just get another skilled player as #13? Again, not complaining, just don't see the point of it

D.J. King is having shoulder surgery so Koci will be a part time replacement until he is back, apparently they didn't want Cam Janssen playing the role of enforcer, they want him to focus more on playing and hitting.

I have him pencilled in around 160-170 goals this year

I literally pray every night that Downey will be called up, it's sad but I have lost my desire to watch the Wings without any kind of muscle whatsoever in the line up

I agree, Maltby still serves a purpose, he's a rock solid checking line winger... get rid of Kopecky and bring in some muscle
