I'm sooo glad I took Hudler in my fantasy pool this year

I'm expecting MacIntyre vs. Parros and an undercard consisting of 4-5 other entertaining bouts! can't wait
-
Kindl is fiesty at times but not much of a hitter, I've seen him fight out of rage a couple times but not really someone you can rely on to change the momentum of a game or stick up for teammates on a consistent basis. But a lot of guys are like that in junior and I wouldn't expect him to put up 100+ PIM in the AHL/NHL like he did in the OHL.
-
this is his first NHL fight against Jim Vandermeer he's been more or less undefeated in the minors with tremendous size (6'6 265) and punching power... he has quite a few highlight reel knockouts and will add a few more this year
-
I caaaaant wait until Oilers start playing some of the later games on Saturdays... Steve MacIntyre is a beast I wanna see him go everyone in the league I think he's honestly unbeatable, I'll take his odds against anyone
-
I know eh, it's unreal... I miss the good old days when the grind line could provide entertainment like this both teams just oozing of fighting potential... I wanna see Hordi vs. Vandy
-
He's entertaining in the sense that he's a loose cannon and gives you a reason to watch blowout games. And his fighting style may be boring at times but he only hugs for a few seconds until he gets his piston left going... he gets a little too much flack for a guy who went toe to toe with Orr and Thornton last year, his styles more entertaining than Laraque for sure

I like Brashear, and I don't mind what he did last night either. In a 7-4 game, Bogosian threw a pretty hard hit from behind (nothing overly dangerous) on a Caps player (I believe Steckel), Brashear went after him and got the better of him. Nothing brutal, no real damage down, and he didn't go all out once the linesmen showed up. Good job by Bogosian to play hard and answer the bell and good job by Brashear to let a young Bogosian know that those type of hits aren't necessary nor will they be accepted against the Caps, Bogosian will remember this next time Brashear is on the ice (imagine that, eh). Brashear is a total dick but he's also a great entertainer and a really intimidating enforcer, no complains here.

is Dallas Drake straight up considered an enforcer? no, of course not.. did he enforce a little bit last year, and has he throughout his career? yes.

Here's some food for the thought... why is Pronger deemed untouchable? 6'5 is a factor but the #1 reason no one goes after Pronger is because he's on the Ducks and every single player/team/coach in the league knows that if you want to play that kind of game against the Ducks, that's how their built. They've got a fighter in every weight class and then some, they simply won't allow you to manhandle their star player, their (former) captain. Let's say Lappy runs Lidstrom again this year and KO's him, only this time, Downey was claimed off of waivers. Nothing happens to Lappy all year long, if he ran Pronger out cold, he'd pay the price every single regular season game for the rest of the year. It all depends how teams are built, you think if Lidstrom drilled a player from behind head first into the boards, he is all of a sudden untouchable? I don't think so.
-
that's great news where did you hear that? I was praying the Leafs would claim MacIntyre.... then Gratton.... now Downey would be great if they play him
-
it's officially embarrassing to be a red wings fan again
-
You see any of Peters' scraps last season? or any of Downey's for that matter?
-
Downey took 2 stupid penalties, there's no other way to put it, but he didn't back down from a challenge from Peters like most people think. He's on the team to enforce when necessary, that's it. He shouldn't have to go looking for Peters when the Wings are up 2-0 in the 3rd, but he's out there to keep guys like Peters and Kaleta in line and make sure nothing gets out of hand. There are always threads about whether enforcers reduce cheapshots or not, let's say Downey wasn't on the ice for that particular shift. All of a sudden Peters has a new target with his face towards the boards and back to Peters, but instead it was Downey because Downey drew Peters' attention. Just like the Mayers/Walker/Johnson incident last year, it was late in the 3rd, Wings were up, the 3 guys were stalking Downey... why would Downey go out of his way to fight? He's there to protect his teammates and by having them follow him around, he's doing a pretty good job of that. If Peters or Mayers/Walker/Johnson REALLY wanted to fight they can a) drop their gloves and grab Downey, accept the instigator penalty and then proceed to get their ass kicked, or b) take a healthy run at one of Downey's teammates. Peters is all show. Downey took 2 stupid penalties but other than that he played his role well.
-
Peters loves to play the crowd, looks like you got played bud. Who the F cares if he motioned to drop the gloves, his team was down 2-0, if he REALLY wanted to fight Downey he can go ahead and drop the gloves first. Downey is not afraid of fighting Peters. Downey has gotten better since then and Peters has gotten worse.
-
To anyone who thinks Downey dodged a fight tonight, get real... Wings are up 2-0, if Peters wants to change the momentum of the game he can go ahead and drop the gloves first if he really wants to fight. I can't believe people are actually buying into what happened in today's game. Peters LOVES to play the crowd and showboat, Downey... not so much, he's more about business. Peters was giving him the glove shake and Downey stood there for a good 3 seconds waiting for Peters to drop em, why would Downey be the one to engage? He was dumb to let Peters bother him enough and take 2 penalties because of it, but he definitely didn't dodge a fight from Peters. Downey can barely skate and can't contribute offensively but he doesn't deserve the reputation of being afraid of anyone in this league because he's not.

Helm has looked amazing all preseason and Kopecky has been invisible aside from that one hit

hopefully there's a little more bad blood tomorrow night if Hollweg/Mayers are in with Downey/Quincey tonight was a good game but aside from a couple incidents it was a pretty laid back game

edit: nm
-
yeah McCollum is playing in the OHL he's too young for AHL
-
did hollweg's hit on mckee last game go unreviewed by the league? that's surprising...
