I won't make a new thread but check out this clip of McCarty smoking Drake

He's been trying to earn a spot since the 05-06 season and he's only ever shown that he is very capable of an NHL job, he's shown he's very passionate and brings an element of toughness we don't really have on our back end right now... if he isn't given an real opportunity to secure his spot on the team then I hope he demands a trade, it's sad seeing such young potential rotting away in the minors year after year.
-
Mac finds a way to get from point A to point B, has a nose for the net and a minor scoring touch... he's fought for years and he's still better than 80% of the guys in the league and knows how to enforce properly. He's only going to improve from last year as he gets in better shape, and he managed 3 points in 20 games, and was +3, not too bad.

why are u chirping someone online based on their hockey opinion...... nerd
-
lol I watch center ice and cbc on 2 seperate tvs, Wings on the good TV
-
I watch about 70 Leafs games a year and if they don't dress a legit enforcer this year I'll puke
-
I don't think so, what would that say about the organization? Leino could have signed with any team he wanted.
-
#1 FIGHTER up for grabs... not enforcer
-
Not sure if you quite got that one
-
Lidstrom Rafalski Kronwall Lilja Lebda #6 #7 #8 #6-8 = Quincey, Meech, Chelios Is there really any chance we'll sign an UFA defenseman? I don't see how we could... I think if we somehow get a top 4 guy it'll be at the expense of Quincey+ or Meech+ through a trade.
-
To be honest that's my #1 choice as well I just don't see it as a reality. Carry an enforcer throughout the regular season and worry about his replacement near the trade deadline (like we did this year with the DMac swap). It kind of eliminates the point of carrying an enforcer when he's in the press box... but the season hasn't even started yet so I'll keep quiet and see how things play out.
-
It'll be Tomas Kopecky, but some other options I like are Owen Nolan, Darcy Tucker, and Matt Cooke.

I'm not really good at putting prices on players but from what I've seen of Bouwmeester he is really, really good. Incredible speed, contributes offensively but still so solid defensively, not overly physical but is great at playing the body to break up a play. I'd think he's a 4.5-5 million dollar player. Really quiet guy you don't hear much about and in my opinion so underrated.
-
If he gets a shot in GR that'd be great but I wouldn't be suprised to see him ECHL bound
-
yeah this is how it's gotta be done, it's just a shame they aren't getting anything for their assets (or whatever they are)
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
why do you think Kronwall and Meech would play together? that seems like a horrible combo... both offensive guys who join the rush, neither are particularly strong in front of their own net
-
Can't afford him and he is another left handed PP specialist, not really what we need
-
The Stanley Cup finals aren't played 1 on 1... Crosby played well and lead the playoffs in scoring.
-
That's why I word it "you'd like to think..." but if either of them starts chipping in with a few goals here and there, who knows? There is always teams looking for someone who can scrap and still contribute a bit offensively.
-
You'd like to think a guy like McCarty would be safe on waivers but rules are rules and you can't be so sure with guys like Lowe around. 29 other guys are looking to better their team and weaken ours.
-
It's not expected for him to drop the gloves "all the time". Like I said if you know when, how, and why to fight then it's just another asset to his game. I don't even need to throw a huge list out I'll just mention Iginla and Richards, both world class talents with the ability to fight if necessary. If Ericsson has the ability to fight and knows when to and when not to, it can only improve his game, opposing forwards will think twice about what they do around Osgood with a 6'5 monster on the ice. Crosby's fight this year was not a good example of when to fight, but if Hossa gets run from behind by Alex Burrows and lays on the ice unconscious, it shouldn't matter if Crosby has 400 points a year or not, he should respond just like all his team mates.

Same deal as last year... they will expose Downey to waivers (possibly McCarty) to waivers to give the club more options, he can be called up at any given time and he doesn't actually goto Grand Rapids.
