    Any fans in Tucson

Watch every Wing's game on your computer, free First off I have nothing to do with these sites I'm just a Wings' fan outside of Detroit and I know the pain of missing a game.. I'm gonna give step by step instructions to hook it up, it's not too hard if you read my steps, it may seem like a long, complicated post but I really just buttered it up to make it fool proof (I hope), if there are any problems let me know in this thread and I'll reply tomorrow If anyone is interested in watching a livestream for tomorrow's game (and almost all games all year) I can hook you up with a good site I found. Recently my satellite has been getting zapped so I had to find an alternate to watch games. It's not too complicated but it does take a few minutes of your attention to get it set up. First, you need to download SopCast, SopCast is basically an online television that people can host their own feeds from their televisions so others can watch. Download SopCast here: http://www.sopcast.org/download/ Then you need to download another program called VLC Media Player, it's a small program that you need to run while SopCast is open and the game shows up on that rather than SopCast (I think it's just smoother and better overall), download that here: http://www.videolan.org OK so after you get both those downloaded, goto this site: http://forum.myp2p.eu/viewforum.php?id=1338 In their public forums look for the thread about the current day livestreams, example: "Sticky: NHL Today Dec 6 STREAMING by pkcable [ 1 2 3 … 12 ]" (they are stickied at the top) Go in there... then say it says "7:30 pm Carolina @ Tampa Bay TBGames " for example.... the "TBGames" thing is a link, so hover your mouse over it and right click, goto Properties, copy the address (sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/33510) That address you just copied is your access to the game... open up the SopCast program, log in as anonymous (it has a default name/password, just click log in)... then at the top where you can enter text, paste the address (sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/33510), then click the red arrow to the right of the text box. A small window will open up the left of SopCast that will buffer (load) the game. The game itself in that window is usually slow and not smooth so put that on mute and minimize it. Then you have to open the VLC Media Player, goto File (top left) and goto Open Network Stream, then select HTTP option, and type in 127.0.0.1:8902 as the URL. (if 8902 doesn't work, try port 8912). You MUST leave Sopcast running because closing Sopcast closes the stream so quick recap... 1. Get Wings game address off forums 2. Open sopcast, put in address, mute and minimize sopcast 3. Open VLC Media Player and enter that URL in HTTP options 4. A screen will open up in VLC Media Player and you can adjust it, it may be slow at first but it should improve after a couple minutes, some livestreams though are just fuzzy and bad sound quality, but its better than missing the game A tip to possibly speed up your livestream... obviously try to avoid having major applications running like a video game or music downloader, messengers are no big deal. Another way to increase the livestream is goto your Task Manager (press CTRL + ALT + DELETE just once) then under "Processes" tab, go SopCast.exe and VLC.exe, right click each of them, Set Priority to HIGH. Again... if anyone has problems just let me know what your having trouble with Go Wings clap.gif

Why isn't Downey playing every night?

Before the season started I was hoping we'd take a chance on Todd Fedoruk... he brings similar fighting and enforcing skills as Downey but he is able to use his size to his advantage on the ice and chip away with 10-20 points a year... but after picking up Downey I'm so grateful he is still on the roster and in the line up more often than not. I would definitely take Downey over Hudler as a 4th line role player, Hudler belongs in the top 6, if he can't crack that then he will just be misused and out of place (last 20 games)

    Ian Laperriere

No he didn't... “I didn’t understand all the commotion. I thought the hit was fair. The referee said it wasn’t illegal.” Let's face it, it was a borderline hit but the refs called it clean, so did the league. Lappy realizes that whether his hit was clean or not, because of Lidstrom's injury, there would be a price to pay. Downey went after him and Lappy gave Downey full credit after the game, he said he'd have done the same thing in that situation. Tonight's game: “It doesn’t matter if it’s clean or not clean, it’s a big hit on one of our big players and he got injured and someone had to do something. I felt like it had to be me. Jack knew exactly that someone had to come.” Smyth was injured, clean hit or not, and Lappy felt he had to send a message back to Jack Johnson. He went after him but didn't get a chance to pound his face in. So how did he contradict himself? He is one of few remaining players in the league who live and die by the same "code".

    Ian Laperriere

What a turd? Lapperriere admitted that Downey did the right thing by going after him when he hit Lidstrom. Lappy knows when you gotta send a message as well... he's an old school guy, not sure what this post is about?

    The Fight Thread

the LNAH is great... Brashear spent the lockout there to keep his fighting skills top notch haha, he ran the league

    DRW best/worst trade ever

I agree the Shanahan trade was a great one, it just sounds funny saying they were looking for a power forward with size so they traded 6'5 220 Keith Primeau for 6'3 220 Brendan Shanahan

    McCarty officially signs with Wings

this is no risk signing and it won't influence Holland making a big splash today or tomorrow... having McCarty around just creates a little healthy competition between guys like Drake, Kopecky, McCarty to make sure they keep motivated, whoever is going will likely play

Why Can't Someone Do This to Phaneuf or Pronger?

There's a time and place for cheapshots, use em if need be.... how many guys have been kicked out of the league for a specific cheapshot? how many deliberate cheapshots have been taken? on ice penalties make you miss a few minutes, on ice cheapshots make you miss a few games... the game of hockey has a always been like this, use what you have available to yourself to improve your team's chances to win

    2/23 GDT: Canucks 4, Red Wings 1

I agree we need someone to carry another line, Sundin would be great, Forsberg would have been great, Jokinen, whoever... someone who can single handedly create a threat to score when on the ice. Filppula was doing that earlier in the year but now his rushes are all wasted because he takes such high risk offensive chances without going for that key low quality shot that he used to, we would get rebounds, etc. Draper is playing great IMO, he's skating hard, finishing hits and all over the ice. Drake, Flip, Huds, Kopy are all a step or 2 behind, miss their hits, don't create opportunities, lose battles for pucks... Samuelsson and Maltby I don't even notice anymore

    You've gotta love TSN!

They acknowledged the Wings' injuries on a couple occassions... sorry bud but no one but Wings' fans feel sorry for the injuries, the NHL is going to move on. The Flames won against the #1 team in the NHL, you want the media to cancel all interviews because the Wings weren't 100%? A win is a win is a win is a win is a win, etc... No one should feel sympathetic for a team that can't stay healthy, get over it.

Well I just have an illegal satelite that picks it up... for 2 years now, no problems... all NHL games every night, every boxing event, UFC event, all new movies, porn lol, etc.... $200 upfront that's it

you should do it I don't know how hockey fans can live without it... I've had it for 2 years and can't imagine going back... late night Calgary games, Anaheim games... so much more entertaining

I will sign if I can keep my number!

I'd imagine Quincey would offer Blake #4 but aside from that no, you don't come in and take a number away from Maltby, Datsyuk, or Chelios.

haha look at that defense...scares the s*** outta me

    Jonathan Ericsson

Ericsson takes on Klein in a spirited bout after Ericsson rocked some guy with a hipcheck Ericsson wants no piece of Valabik as Quincey and LaVallee have a go
  19. skacore

    Jonathan Ericsson

he's really not that physical and he rarely fights and usually isn't the aggressor when he does Quincey is far physical than Ericsson
  20. skacore

    Matt Ellis on Waivers

I'm not 100% here but I'm pretty sure they called up Hartigan because he doesn't have to clear waivers and he is a placeholder until McCarty is ready to go. Ellis would have to clear waivers eventually for McCarty to come up so might as well do it sooner than later. Anyways, it's sad to see Matt Ellis leave the organization with nothing in return but all in all it's a good situation for both sides. Detroit got a couple great years in the AHL out of him and a year of a solid depth role at the NHL for nothing (undrafted) and the type of player he is it just takes time for him to adjust to the different levels of hockey but Detroit doesn't have time or space for him to do that here, L.A. does and I'm sure he'll have a solid NHL career there
  21. skacore

    Matt Ellis on Waivers

So does every other organization... it was just a hunch, not a rumour or anything
  22. skacore

    Matt Ellis on Waivers

It just seems like a good fit... he played his entire OHL career with St. Mikes, he's only 26 and always improving, assuming Toronto does trade away some of their assets at the deadline for prospects and picks, they'd have room for him as a depth forward. A young, hardworking, overachievering, two-way forward would rub off well with the young guys if the Leafs do in fact tank and rebuild
  23. Ericsson isn't overly physical and not a fighter by any stretch of the imagination but he's good for a couple scraps a year and he's physical enough to use his size to his advantage. Aside from that he is your typical European style defenseman
  24. skacore

    Matt Ellis on Waivers

I bet Toronto picks him up

    Anyone watch the game 02/16/08?

I've seen a few people ask around so may as well make it easier to find... did anyone see the game tonight, if so, how did McCarty and Ericsson fair in their fights? thanks
