still a different scenario IMO, Lapperriere was willing to fight but could no longer continue... I don't look at Cleary's fight against Pronger and think wow, Pronger beat the s*** outta the turtling Cleary

I loved the beatdown as much as anyone but somethings to consider here before referring this to Claude Lemieux.. Lapperriere's hit was a borderline elbow, we'll all say it was but he didn't seem to have the intent to knock Lidstrom out. Lemieux had a history of cheapshots without backing it up, Lapperriere is a stand up hockey player Lapperriere is an honest fighter but Downey is out of his league, Lappy still had him a go and lost decisively, but he answered the bell. Lapperriere said after the game that he respects Aaron Downey and that he had no intent when throwing the hit to injure Lidstrom, he felt it was a clean hit and IMO it was borderline, the refs thought it was clean though. He said if it had happened to his team he would have reacted the exact same way. With that said.... all hail Aaron Downey! old time hockey!!

1 min penalties during regular season OT dumb... they rarely call penalties anyways, if it's worth calling it's worth 2 high-sticking penalties and whether it should remain an automatic four-minute penalty for drawing blood it should be 2 or 4 depending on the action not the result instigator don't remove it but remove the game misconduct attached to it and the last 5 minute bullcrap.. you can't remove it entirely because if an innocent player is jumped, he would be encouraged to turtle and not fight back otherwise he wouldn't draw his team a PP, that's wrong The growing trend of NCAA players leaving school early to sign with NHL teams if they can compete with the best players in the world i don't see the harm the idea that players who are traded near the trade deadline cannot re-join his old team for a minimum of one year yes!!! whether hand passes should be disallowed in the defensive zone yes it's fine, if you don't allow them it just encourages players to freeze the puck more when they're on all fours whether breaking a stick on a player should be an automatic slashing penalty lol... no... that's basically how it is already though, unfortunately five shooters instead of three during shootouts yeah i like this whether a player that was still in the penalty box at the end of overtime should be ineligible for the shootout nope

Downey was trying to start s*** yesterday against the Bluejackets but with no Shelley and no Boll there is no one for him to fight and he's not going to pick up an instigator penalty and put his team on the PK. Today, same deal, without Winchester and Barch in the line up there is no one for Downey to fight. Having the upperhand in the fisticuffs department is not necessarily a bad thing to just have if necessary, when he was on the ice he did what he could on the forecheck. The score was 1-0 today, and you think the problem is Downey?

Also, yeah another thing... Fans can relate to North American heroes so much easier than Europeans

I agree to an extent with Don. I would love more grit and toughness which generally comes from NORTH AMERICAN (I'm Canadian but I see no difference between Canadian and American players...) players rather than Europeans. I don't mind European players who are here for goal scoring but when it comes to the bottom 6 I'd much rather see it filled out with hard nosed North American players rather than Franzen, Samuelsson, Hudler, Kopecky. You can call Don Cherry a racist all you want but when a European shows true signs of toughness, he'll give them their due (Koivu, Sundin, etc.). He is as old school as you can get and he calls it how it is. Don Cherry also talked poorly about Steve Downie and his actions and willingness to fight with a visor on... Downie is Canadian by the way.. so it goes both ways

agreed.. anyone who shows character in their game nowadays is bitched about and hated.. controversy is good for the game

we're not bringing in a (36?) year old vet banger to replace a (26?) year old kid.. the organization has put up with Kopecky's mediocre play for 3 years in Grand Rapids before he did anything.. now when he starts to feel comfortable at the NHL level we're gonna dump him? I don't think so

Hudler has literally been a waste of space the past month, I agree. I really really hope he is involved in a trade at the deadline because he is exactly what we need less of. Filppula has always been better all around and although he's not scoring, he is still driving the net, winning battles in the corners, and creating scoring opportunities. Kopecky is also playing MUCH better, he's finally using his body on a regular basis and he is getting dirty in the corners and shooting when he has a shot. I'm afraid Hudler will only get worse in the playoffs too I don't mind Samuelsson aslong as he keeps his game simple which is taking a shot whenever he has an opportunity, hitting the net and trying for a rebound rather than firing it over the net and off the glass. When he hesitated to take that shot today and it ended up on a 2 on 1 that is exactly what he needs to not do

I don't mind Meech personally, but there's just no room for him on this squad, with Rafalski and Lebda in the line up everynight, the undersized swiftfooted D man role is taken Quincey would be such a better fit

First off I have nothing to do with these sites I'm just a Wings' fan outside of Detroit and I know the pain of missing a game.. I'm gonna give step by step instructions to hook it up, it's not too hard if you read my steps, it may seem like a long, complicated post but I really just buttered it up to make it fool proof (I hope), if there are any problems let me know in this thread and I'll reply tomorrow If anyone is interested in watching a livestream for tomorrow's game (and almost all games all year) I can hook you up with a good site I found. Recently my satellite has been getting zapped so I had to find an alternate to watch games. It's not too complicated but it does take a few minutes of your attention to get it set up. First, you need to download SopCast, SopCast is basically an online television that people can host their own feeds from their televisions so others can watch. Download SopCast here: http://www.sopcast.org/download/ Then you need to download another program called VLC Media Player, it's a small program that you need to run while SopCast is open and the game shows up on that rather than SopCast (I think it's just smoother and better overall), download that here: http://www.videolan.org OK so after you get both those downloaded, goto this site: http://forum.myp2p.eu/viewforum.php?id=1338 In their public forums look for the thread about the current day livestreams, example: "Sticky: NHL Today Dec 6 STREAMING by pkcable [ 1 2 3 … 12 ]" (they are stickied at the top) Go in there... then say it says "7:30 pm Carolina @ Tampa Bay TBGames " for example.... the "TBGames" thing is a link, so hover your mouse over it and right click, goto Properties, copy the address (sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/33510) That address you just copied is your access to the game... open up the SopCast program, log in as anonymous (it has a default name/password, just click log in)... then at the top where you can enter text, paste the address (sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/33510), then click the red arrow to the right of the text box. A small window will open up the left of SopCast that will buffer (load) the game. The game itself in that window is usually slow and not smooth so put that on mute and minimize it. Then you have to open the VLC Media Player, goto File (top left) and goto Open Network Stream, then select HTTP option, and type in 127.0.0.1:8902 as the URL. (if 8902 doesn't work, try port 8912). You MUST leave Sopcast running because closing Sopcast closes the stream so quick recap... 1. Get Wings game address off forums 2. Open sopcast, put in address, mute and minimize sopcast 3. Open VLC Media Player and enter that URL in HTTP options 4. A screen will open up in VLC Media Player and you can adjust it, it may be slow at first but it should improve after a couple minutes, some livestreams though are just fuzzy and bad sound quality, but its better than missing the game A tip to possibly speed up your livestream... obviously try to avoid having major applications running like a video game or music downloader, messengers are no big deal. Another way to increase the livestream is goto your Task Manager (press CTRL + ALT + DELETE just once) then under "Processes" tab, go SopCast.exe and VLC.exe, right click each of them, Set Priority to HIGH. Again... if anyone has problems just let me know what your having trouble with Go Wings
