Belak is hard to rate because he is seldomly dressed and doesn't always open up but he can still go with the best of them.. hung with McGrattan last year, win over Peters, win over Orr, win on Brash... he can beat any top 10 HW on any given night so I just wouldn't feel right leaving him out of my top 10 as for Ivanans... theres a few HWs you could throw in the 10th slot I suppose, Thornton, Roy, Shelley, Parros... I just like Ivanans because he had some nice showings last year and he hung with Laraque and Boog I was worried about Belak after his fight with Orr in '05 but IMO he redeemed himself in '06 when he dominated Orr in a slugfest and then went toe to toe and edged Brashear the same week...hasn't lost since then

my current top 10 is 1 Georges Laraque 2 Donald Brashear 3 Derek Boogaard 4 Brian McGrattan 5 Andrew Peters 6 Wade Belak 7 Colton Orr 8 D.J. King 9 Eric Godard 10 Raitis Ivanans until its about mid season I don't really plan on changing anything.. Peters hasn't done much this year so his spot in the top 5 is in jeopardy, Godard is active but not dominating subpar opponents, Belak isn't dressing... sucks balls Laraque isn't even playing tonight I had this game bookmarked for a long time

the way that zaxx described is a great step by step guide (very easy to set up) that will allow you to save any videos you want to in the future on your own without having someone send them to you.. it looks complicated but all you gotta do is download Mozilla Firefox which is a much better (IMO, in most people's opinions browser than IE), and then download a simple add on for that browser and it works wonders I would recommend trying it

Yeah hopefully... f***in idiot

Chara cracks him a couple times square on the face as well

that's about what I expect, except that I don't see him having an 11 point year down the road... once he hits that 30-40 point plateau he will stay there

I remember he said something like Datsyuk and Zetterberg never stop passing to each other so sometimes he has to puck his stick in the lane to deflect it on net

Great game... I love this current line up, I'd like Franzen back but can't say I miss Samuelsson being out! I love the 4th line of Drake Ellis Downey
-
I can't even imagine if we got Doan, that would be amazing, I'm all for trading anyone in the system aside from Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Lidstrom. If we could run a second line of Franzen-Filppula-Doan and they got a cycle going? That could really work out for us. Even if we did have to include Kronwall I would take it in a heartbeat, with the D prospects we have we can easily afford to lose Kronwall. I'm a big fan of Quincey and believe he could play in the top 4 easily, and we got Ericsson/Kindl in a couple of years. Markov would be welcomed aswell

I don't like to refer to them as Hudler/Filppula cause they are two completely different players, but I agree. Hudler is a highly skilled, under sized sniper who is just lost out there, he has an amazing release and amazing accuracy but he never finds himself in a position to get his shot off. Filppula is an all around good player, I don't expect him to ever rack up 50+ points but he is a solid two way centerman. Right now he has the skating down, the forecheck, the skills, he just doesn't have the confidence and decision making it seems. He's never willing to goto the net hard or attempt a risky pass like Datsyuk/Zetterberg are, but aside from that I think he looks great, hopefully he gets comfortable with some line mates in the future and they begin to click.

That was a pretty hard loss to take but overall atleast the game was somewhat entertaining. The penalties were ridiculous, they are trying to improve the NHL but no one wants to watch that s*** all game. On offense the Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom line was once again amazing, they just create scoring opportunies literally non stop, I can't believe it sometimes Hudler-Filppula-Kopecky were pretty crappy, I didn't notice Hudler at all (again), Kopecky had some strong play along the boards but his hands looked horrible tonight, definitely not 2nd line material. Filppula was a little below average but he did make some nice plays, the thing I hate about Filppula though is that he is constantly slowing the game down in the offensive zone when he has the puck, he always has a shooting lane or even a passing lane and he just cycles or dips into the corner, he needs to drive to the net a little more like Datsyuk does Cleary-Draper-Maltby were pretty good, Cleary played great and had a nice goal from a great pass from Draper, Draper was wheeling all over the ice like usual, didn't really notice Maltby much except for a couple excellent takeaways on the PK and forecheck Drake-Ellis-Downey had a ton of jump and provided energy whenever they were on the ice, I really wish they saw more ice time. Drake had a couple nice takeaways on the PK and had his forecheck going tonight, Ellis played great, he had a lot of hustle and was positionally sound, and he had a great effort to set up the 2nd goal when he put the pressure on the D behind the net and caused a turn over then almost scored himself when he was battling in the crease. Downey looked like he had a lot to prove when he was on the ice, he was skating great and finished his hits as always, his first shift he even rattle Pronger a bit and stripped him of the puck on the forecheck. This is a very capable 4th line I wish they were rotated into the mix a bit more, and I think Babcock felt the same way tonight unfortunately for penalty trouble he couldn't get the 4 line flow going. When your 4th line is in the opponents end 80% of the time causing havoc and creating minor scoring opportunities while giving your star players a rest, why not use them more often? For D, Lidstrom was great on the offensive end with crisp passes and one timers but there were a couple times in front of Hasek where he was exposed and couldn't really handle the forward banging away. Rafalski looked pretty good, he hung on to the puck a little too much in our end a couple times and was forechecked hard but overall he had a pretty solid game. Lilja was awful and he makes such bad decisions, I saw him go into the corner on a couple of occassions when Kronwall was already there, leaving the front of the net empty. Kronwall was running around a bit much and just needs to relax and play a simple game. Lebda looked bad as usual, overpowered when fighting for the puck and he didn't even make his daily end to end rush attempt, which is probably a good thing. Chelios had an average game, it's nice to see one of our D men actually trying to clear the front of the net with some authority for a change Hasek didn't have a very good game, not much more to say I agree with what you've said but I don't agree with this statement, you felt the game was out of reach with 5 minutes to go? We had a powerplay for the final 4 minutes of the game plus an extra attacker for a good 2 minutes, Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom-Lidstrom-Rafalski created a ton of opportunities in the last few minutes, enough to score 2 goals easily, I'm glad he had them out there because we were still in the game.

Filppula is kinda playing AMAZING, if thats possible... he looks like he has learned a ton from Datsyuk and Zetterberg and he's probably the 3rd highest skilled forward we got but he just can't finish and he refuses to shoot. I think once he gains a little confidence in his scoring abilities and gets comfortable with some line mates he will start to light it up... He has looked really really really good, especially defensively, great to see... Hudler on the other hand...

I heard on TV that George Parros goes to hockeyfights.com all the time
-
I was wondering why more players dont bite their lip or tongue to get the extra 2 min PP

true... http://www.karendecoster.com/images/patrick_roy.jpg

Weakness? not really... throwing hits isn't an aspect of Lidstrom's game but he is better than anyone else positionally and he can get the same job done with his stick. Was Patrick Roy a lesser goalie just because Vernon kicked his ass? I wouldn't say so
-
hahaha what? good one anyways, it's 3 games into the season and our 5 on 5 hasn't been that bad, we get a ton of chances we just haven't cashed any in yet, it will come

"Im glad Danny is probably playing on the top line, but Ellis shouldnt be playing, he's useless." "What purpose does Ellis serve? Nothing." That's just from this thread and the game day thread. I only singled you out because you post a lot I specifically remember you saying you wanted Ellis to make the squad, now he is useless? I understand where everyone is coming from because I am a huge fan of hockey fights, I wish Downey was in the line up tonight too, but they choose Ellis instead. The management is to blame for not having a regular fighter in the line up, not the guy taking the spot of the fighter. I can't stand when people call a player like Ellis "useless" because he is the exact opposite, he gives 200% effort every night and has been an overachiever his entire career Now there's a crazy idea :beerbuddy:

It's pretty sickening to hear some of you guys talk down to this team's players like you do, I want a fighter on the Wings as much (probably more) than anyone on here and I wish they would bring a regular in, but if the organization makes the decision to put in Matt Ellis, a workhorse and leader on the Griffins for the past few years who has only improved in every aspect of his game, over Aaron Downey, a recent UFA signing who will drop the gloves, I wish the best for Matt Ellis Detroit #1 Fan, I remember you saying something like "Ellis and Downey, the two guys I wanted to make the team made it, yay!" now you are talking smack? You're like a Yakbak, you just repeat what everyone else says in a thread lol, you know you can have your OWN opinion dude

-
which I have always found pretty amusing that he gets so much praise for that fight... he fought a guy 5'10 190 and that was the first fight of his career... woo hoo!

Ellis had a lot of jump tonight I would of liked to see him a little more
