No we wouldn't be... Downey in 82 games would probably be 15-20 fights and we would probably sit around 25, so from a fighting stand point we would be a little below average but physical play we'd be fine with Drake, Maltby, Cleary, Franzen, Lilja, Kronwall, Kopecky, Downey, etc.

Just caught it on Sportcentre, here is some of the penalties Russia - Yuri Alexandrov - (Roughing), 2 min, 10:10 Russia - Yuri Alexandrov - (Roughing), 2 min, 10:10 Russia - Yuri Alexandrov - (Fisticuffs Misconduct), 10 min, 10:10 Russia - Maxim Chudinov - (Roughing), 2 min, 10:10 Russia - Maxim Chudinov - (Cross Checking), 2 min, 10:10 Russia - Maxim Chudinov - (Fisticuffs Misconduct), 10 min, 10:10 Canada - Keaton Ellerby - (Fisticuffs Misconduct), 10 min, 10:10 Canada - Claude Giroux - (Roughing), 2 min, 10:10 Canada - Claude Giroux - (Roughing), 2 min, 10:10 Canada - Claude Giroux - (Fisticuffs Misconduct), 10 min, 10:10 Canada - Josh Godfrey - (Fisticuffs Misconduct), 10 min, 10:10 Russia - Viktor Tikhonov - (Fisticuffs Misconduct), 10 min, 10:10 Russia - Maxim Chudinov - (Roughing), 2 min, 5:36 Canada - Milan Lucic - (Roughing), 2 min, 5:37 Canada - Milan Lucic - (Roughing), 2 min, 5:37 Canada - John Tavares - (Checking from Behind), 2 min, 19:01 Canada - John Tavares - (Checking from Behind Misconduct), 10 min, 19:01 I haven't seen a clip of Tavares' checking from behind or Lucic's double minor rough, but the brawl started when a Russian in a full cage boarded Claude Giroux way after the whistle into the boards, a crowd gathered around the Russian goal and a couple fights broke out... the main event was Luke Schenn filling in the cheapshotting Russian player and there were a couple wrestling matches behind them, he pounded him pretty good, and turns out Schenn only received 2 minutes of penalties haha

why do you think that? I don't really see why there is any interest in Sopel unless a trade is in the works, but with him being invited to camp it's for a shot at the Red Wings, they won't sign him to play for the Griffins, Cullimore I couldn't care less what they do with
-
McCarty and Downey are both coming off injuries from last season and unless McCarty is in a wheel chair, he can't be much worse than Downey when it comes to skating and contributing, and from a fighting stand point I would rate the 3 you mentioned Brad Norton > Aaron Downey = Darren McCarty, neither can hold their own with the top heavies anymore and can only contribute a few points a year. I'm glad Downey was invited to camp and wish him the best, if McCarty literally can't skate due to surgery that's understandable but if he is able to go I'd rather see him get a shot
-
I'd love to have Aaron Downey as our 13th/14th forward and insert him in the line up from time to time but he really doesn't bring much aside from willingness to fight, why not just bring back McCarty if we're looking for someone to fill that role?

not really sure how you can make that statement http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=89823

I watched every game except Game 8 and I thought he played great (a little young = 16). He had 1 goal but I think atleast 4 assists, and he had a ton of great chances, a couple posts. He really is the next big thing coming along but he was just surrounded by so many superstars like S. Gagner, K. Turris, etc... that he just wasn't the one putting up the numbers, but he definitely wasn't invisible.

under NHL rules

You're an angry dude and that's okay, frankly I don't have the time or effort to reply to you anymore, but I am not the one who opened my "big, dumb mouth", you are the one who called Karl Alzner a ***** which is totally ridiculous, enough said peace
-
Love your sarcasm and essay like post. But you're right, I'm sure trash talking in hockey never happens, especially in the playoffs or an 8 game series, I doubt NHL players ever say anything to their opponents after they get hit/lose a fight/get dangled, etc... give me a break lol, some people just like to type a lot and start up arguments on here it seems PS. I bet Karl Alzner, the best defenseman in the tournament so far, would love to hear some hockey tips on how to be tough from Letsgowings.com poster named GordieSid&Ted, you should see if he has some sort of fan mail you can send in to

Grigorenko and some guy grab each other behind the net with thier sticks/gloves on, the other guy wrestles Grigorenko around a bit and smacks Grigorenko with his glove a couple times, Grigorenko drops his stick and grabs him and the refs come in... gloves on...

"Anybody who puts Sammy and Franzen up front when we have Filppula and Grigorenko is a moron" That is what you said, to which I replied "well that's the way Babcock already said it's going to be" Babcock said (there were a ton of articles about it a couple weeks ago), something along the lines of this Zetterberg - Samuelsson - Franzen/Hudler Datsyuk - Holmstrom - Franzen/Hudler Cleary Filppula Draper Maltby Kopecky Drake Grigorenko He said Z is with Sammy, Datsyuk is with Homer, 3rd line and 4th line are set (for now), Franzen/Hudler are the rotating wingers, he didn't mention Grigorenko because he's never seen him play. I lost an argument? There is no argument, this is me telling you what has already happened, so please, shut up you moron
-
well those are the lines that Babcock said he is going to give a try, smart guy
-
WUT SINCE WHEN DOSE BEING OVERLY AGRESIV MAKE SOME1 "DA MAN"????!!
-
He's a solid upgrade over Langfeld to fill in for injuries. He puts up similar numbers (AHL), he's younger, he's tougher.
-
naw yours are horrible his are good Homer - Dats - Murray Franzen - Zeta - Samuelsson Filppula - Drape - Cleary Drake - Kopecky - Maltby (Grigorenko) (realisticly replace Murray with Grigorenko) now who sits out if Grigorenko makes the team outta training camp? Hudler won't... It's gotta be Drake or Kopecky I'd imagine
-
*****? Dude give me a break haha.. have you ever played hockey? I know if I laid a monster hit on the other team's star player in a playoff series, or my team mate did, I'd want to get inside his head as much as I could
-
he was asking for it soo bad... you can't cut into the mid like that lol.. luckily for him it was only Sutter whos made of sticks and bones and weighs 170 soaking wet... if that would have been Milan Lucic he probably wouldn't have gotten up
-
I have home and away Shanahan but I was thinking it would be cool to get a Bob Probert all-star jersey, but it might be hard to find someone to make it lol
-
You can play that both ways, saying Malkin, Staal, Fleury, Gonchar, Whitney played big roles with the Pens but you can't play it off like Lidstrom doesn't have Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Hasek, Schneider, Chelios, etc. IMO it goes 1. Sidney Crosby 2. Joe Thornton 3. Nicklas Lidstrom after that can be debated forever

I found this older fight of Lilja against Corson, he didn't fare too well but he was chucking fists back, I thought you guys might want to see it http://www.fasteel.net/public/Hockey%20fig...20v%20Lilja.mpg
