    Lilja vs. Corson fight video

here is Dallas Drake having a go with Ian Laperriere... the Youtube.com videos are pretty played out and everyone has seen them (Kopecky vs. May, Drake vs. Ott, Drake vs. Petrovicky, etc).. if you guys know the whereabouts of any of our current players fight clips feel free to post em here (Maltby, Drake, Lilja, Kopecky, Quincey).. I'd like to see Maltby vs. Roberts from '06 even though I know it wasn't much, and Lilja vs. Godard http://www.gofish.com/player.gfp?gfid=30-1074110 EDIT: same fight as Detroit #1 Fan's avatar by the way

    Lilja vs. Corson fight video

I'd love to see Lilja challenge Denis Gauthier this year to redeem his pair. Gauthier is no more of a fighter than Lilja is yet Lilja turtled to the guy

    Lilja vs. Corson fight video

Drake has always fought on occasion because he is challened so often but he has never been much of a fighter... it's mostly out of adrenaline, I doubt there is much he can teach Kopecky that he doesn't already know. Kopecky spent a couple years in the WHL and had a couple fights and he had a couple in '06 as well. I'm pretty excited about Maltby-Kopecky-Drake as a line and look forward to a couple of scraps from both Kopecky and Drake.

    Devils sign Arron Asham

fans come to see Maltby? or Janssen wouldn't get the Joe pumped from time to time?

    Devils sign Arron Asham

yea maybe Yzerman/Chelios/Hasek... not Maltby... Cam Janssen would definitely rejuvenate a ton of Red Wing's fans

    In Your Opinion...

    1. Wil Kronwall reach #1/#2 Dman status within his current contract (next 5 years)? No 2. Will Grigorenko prove to be a capable top 6 forward this season? Yes 3. Will Hudler score 20+ goals this season? No 4. Will Filppula have a 45pt season? Yes 5. Will Lilja get in more than 5 fights? No 6. Will Rafalski have a career offensive year? No 7. Who will be the alternate captains when Zetterberg gets the C? Datsyuk & Draper 8. Does Cleary turn out to be a one hit wonder, or does he repeat with another 20+ goal showing? Not 20, maybe 15 9. What one forward, that is an 08 UFA as of now, would you like to see the Wings get at the deadline? Dany Heatley 10. Of the players whose contracts expire in either 08 or 09, which ONE top 6 winger and ONE top 4 Dman (both in the 3M-5M range) and which ONE bottom six player (less than 2M) would you like to see the Red Wings sign? Dany Heatley, Jim Vandermeer

    Why no Enforcer in Motown?

I am not a Pronger fan but he deserves to be the biggest spot picker in recent memory. He makes over 6 million bucks a year and is one of the best D men in the entire league... why would he want to sit off for 5 minutes? If Pronger had more than 1 fight last year then George Parros and Shawn Thornton should both be fired

    Why no Enforcer in Motown?

how about Star's enforcer Krys Barch
  11. I don't know the deal with all of their contracts and the organization's intentions but from what I've been reading it seems like we may lose the core of our team this year. I think I heard Kip Miller will become an UFA this summer and has no intentions to remain a Griffin. Matt Ellis will become a UFA and there is a good chance he will be offered an NHL contract from someone who needs a checking line role player, if he stays in the AHL next season it'll be with the Griffins I'm sure. Matt Hussey is an UFA. Josh Langfeld is an UFA. * Darryl Bootland is an RFA and it sounds like won't be a Griffin next season. Eric Himelfarb is already signed to play in... Switzerland? or Sweden? I dunno... The way things are going the Wings may take either Quincey, Meech, or even Kindl from them as well. You guys think they will still crack a playoff spot next year even if there are some big chances? I'm assuming Hasek will resign and we won't have to worry about a new goaltender quite yet. * does anyone know why (according to nhlnumbers.com) Darryl Bootland is a RFA while Matt Ellis is a UFA? They are the same age and have similar contracts, does it have something to do with Ellis playing 16 reg season games in Detroit this year?

    Mark Hartigan a Red Wing

I really wish Ellis had a better opportunity to make the team this year, he would be an extremely hard working/determined 4th liner with a low salary

    Chris Simon re-signs with Islanders

Don't expect a response. I don't think this guy has ever made any suggestions or given his opinion on a line up or players, he just trolls through threads looking for posts to pick apart, looooooser

    Why no Enforcer in Motown?

Zzzzz talking to a brick wall... yes the Wings are highly skilled but they refuse to stick up for themselves and their team mates and a lot (not all) of the fans do not appreciate that. We didn't have sellouts all season, who are you kidding man? I'm not a stats guy, I watch games and I see the seats are EMPTY and the crowd is DEAD, why lie about that? The Joe was not an energized, full capacity arena throughout the year, that is not even up for debate. Playoff tickets cost more than regular season tickets? No way! This must be some sort of new experiment they are trying in sports... get real.

    Why no Enforcer in Motown?

If you think this year's team had nothing to do with the lack of attendance you are simply lying to yourself

    Why no Enforcer in Motown?

that wasn't the original argument... you just said that guys that are labelled an "enforcer" are no longer a part of the game anymore so I replied with a few successful teams who believe they ARE a part of the game and Derek Boogaard is not a good example, he is a great asset to the Wild, did you see any of Minnesota vs. Anaheim game #4? Boogaard set up the tying goal (1-1) and challenged the entire Anaheim bench... the fans were going nuts chanting Boogaard and the Ducks wanted nothing to do with him... too bad the series was already over at 3-0 heading in a guy like Brian McGrattan or Andrew Peters is probably a better example because they can hardly skate, rarely catch anyone on a forecheck and don't dress in the playoffs that's my point... read my post lol on top of everything else it would help attendance... fans like tough, physical play and they don't like to see there team be steamrolled and then back down.. was anyone else a little embarrassed about the attendance at the Joe during the playoffs? (and reg season)

    Why no Enforcer in Motown?

Brad May was 100%? The guy fought more injuries than 99% of the league this year and he played LESS regular season games than Kopecky yet May is somehow 100% and you know this how...? They both came back from injuries and were put on 4th lines, May out played Kopecky, dunno how it's possible to argue that. Why would you prefer Kopecky? "Chance of there being talent where as to May there is no chance"? For 1 May was not acquired to put up points (again, ignore stats), his scoring days are pretty much over.. he is in the line up to aggitate, forecheck, crash and bang, and play hard two ways, he played that role to perfection. I'm not saying anyone was "afraid" of the Duck's fighting abilities in the playoffs but I sure didn't see any cheap shots on them, and whether or not he has to fight or not, he can if he has to which makes him a very versatile player. Also, May challenged Kopecky on a couple of occasions to fight in the playoffs which Kopecky declined.. he acted like he wanted to one time when the linesmen were in between but that was just for show... that alone plays a small part in the physiological game of hockey. If Tomas Kopecky becomes a solid two-way tough player like Brad May is and manages to have half the career that May has had, I'll be pretty damn happy... the guy is younger and taller, but that's all he has on May Detroit is successful but do not carry a legit enforcer like Andrew Peters
  24. skacore

    Why no Enforcer in Motown?

not really... they have come to an end in Detroit and a hand full of other cities but more than half of the teams out there (including most successful ones - Anaheim, Ottawa, Buffalo) carry a legit enforcer

    Something I must ask....

we lost Bertuzzi, Calder, Schneider, Lang and depth guys like Langfeld, Hussey we gained Rafalski, Drake and are probably going to be relying on Hudler and Filppula to play a bigger role we may make a trade for a top forward mid season or at the deadline if necessary
