    Why no Enforcer in Motown?

we're talking about the playoffs here and WHO CARES ABOUT STATS, I watch hockey I don't really need to fall back on stats 90% of the time, do you? Brad May forechecked like a maniac, wasn't a liability at all, wore our team down and if it was necessary, he was always there incase things got out of hand (say Schnedier/Lilja rammed Palhsson's head into the glass from behind... believe me there would be redemption). Kopecky... not so much... he tried to play physical but it's just not his game, he is trying to turn around his physical game to suit our depth lines but it just hasn't been working out so far

    Why no Enforcer in Motown?

Brad May provided a lot more on Anaheim's 4th line than Tomas Kopecky did for Detroit's 4th line

    Why no Enforcer in Motown?

Asham is 5'11 210 what's your point? He may not be the biggest guy but he is obviously built. 25 points a year, a heavy forecheck, he can skate, and he is a great fighter. Lang had 30 more hooking penalties what's your point? Asham had 5 fights last year (3 wins and 2 great battles with Cam Janssen), even though he had a hand injury for a good part of the season (he still played), but his low PIM is a bad thing? Have you ever seen Arron Asham play, or did you just hockeydb.com his stats, just curious?

Arron Asham is that type of player, he would be a sweet fit to the grind line with Maltby and Draper. He is good for 25 points a year and can lay the beat down on 90% of the players in the league. Obviously I don't know anything about his situation right now other than he is an UFA, but he hasn't signed anywhere yet so something must be going on... I haven't even heard rumors of Holland pursuing him. Dallas Drake? I'm not 100% against this signing but if we were looking for a tough, veteran 4th liner, Chris Simon can get the job done - 27 points last year and the ability to beat down 95% of the league. Trading is also an option, I like Lebda and his speed but what is he, an offensive defenceman? He doesn't play on the PP, and we have atleast 3 guys (Lidstrom, Rafalski, Kronwall) who are ahead of him when it comes to offensive upside. He has problems in his own end and IMO he is at times a liability... if we can get rid of him we can bring up someone like Brad Ference as a 7th D which gives us some size on the back end and toughness, just how I like my D EDIT: Todd Fedoruk was also available as an UFA, sure his face was busted last season but this guy has an amazing attitude and he wants to win. I actually thought there was a realistic chance we would grab Fedoruk just because Detroit seems like such a great organization for him to renew his career in. He is pretty young, huge, and he is a pretty good 4th liner... he'll probably out score Drake next year. Fedoruk has been in hundreds of fights in his career and yeah he bombed a couple, he will be back.

    Why no Enforcer in Motown?

I can honestly agree with that. I know it's kind of dumb in a way, but I would MUCH rather be supporting a skilled, tough group of true hockey players who were eliminated in the first round rather than the team we have right now. I just can't stand watching players not sticking up for their teammates, it kills me... I know most fans would just be happy with a cup win and I would have loved for us to win the cup this year, but at the same time I would much rather a team that takes situations into their own hands rather than tattling to a referee, that's just how hockey has always been. It is really hard for a group of loyal hockey fans who love tough, physical play to have to adjust to this kind of game night in and night out while the rest of the hockey world sees us as *******, and can you blame them?

it wouldn't hurt the ticket sales either... a ton of old school hockey fans may come out to a few games knowing they won't be watching team sweden

    The 2nd Line Dilemna

It's okay you can "go hard" on me if you want I don't really buy into all the top 6 winger etc talk.. hockey teams have 4 lines you run them depending on the situations.. the lines I listed are what I think we could possibly start the season with: Grigorenko Datsyuk Holmstrom Franzen Zetterberg Samuelsson Hudler Filppula Cleary Maltby Draper Drake Kopecky Like I said... don't get too hung up in the the list I put them.. I could put Grigorenko Datsyuk and Holmstrom as the 4th line it really makes no difference, the fact is that Grigorenko is coming over to score goals and play with other talented players. Russian finisher with a Russian playmaker? Sounds good to me... they are going to atleast try it once. All swede line is also a good possibility, it happened at times throughout the year and in the playoffs and it'll happen again.. Franzen is starting to become more dominant and will likely be used more than a checking forward for next season. Hudler, Filppula and Cleary can put together a solid scoring/work horse line, the kids have obvious chemistry and Cleary is a finisher who isn't afraid to get dirty if he has to, Cleary has showed that he can score wherever he is playing so I doubt he will play along side Datsyuk or Zetterberg. Maltby, Draper and Drake is pretty much a pencil in, but like you said... Franzen could be a possiblity if things don't work out with Drake. Even Cleary or Kopecky could take shifts with the line. Here is the thing about Grigorenko... No, he has not proven anything at the NHL level, but just because I list him alongside Datsyuk does not mean they will share minutes or anything like that, but when Grigorenko is on the ice chances are he is out there with some of our best players

    Wings re-sign Matt Ellis

Ellis signing was a while ago... a couple weeks now, before free agency Are you sure he has to clear waivers to be sent down? He just signed a two year, two way deal, why would he have to clear waivers to go back to GR?

    Derek Boogard Fight School

You lost respect because he is running a fight school? When I was 13 our coach hooked us up with 2 years of off ice boxing lessons, I WISH we could have went to the Boogaard fight school lol

Kyle Quincey fight I just uploaded

I just went on my old comp and found a Kyle Quincey fight I had saved from this year in Grand Rapids so I uploaded it to YouTube incase anyone is interested in watching it. I figure since some of us are starving for a willing fighter in Detroit and Quincey is likely going to be getting some more ice time this year you guys might wanna check this out.

    The Wings Next Season

I pray every night that we sign or trade for some toughness, and when I log on every morning I am disappointed lol (literally).. I like the team we have now, I just can't accept the fact that we used to ice such a physically dominant team that had SKILL too.. I don't care for a goon or 30 meaningless fights throughout the year, but 5 MINUTES FOR FIGHTING is a PART OF THE GAME and there are times where it is more than necessary and we were abused much more than any team this past season because people knew how soft our team was.. playing hockey for my entire life I can't even imagine myself playing on a team where my boys don't have my back.. can't even imagine

not that I know of, not right now anyway...sorry I know you can find the video of Quincey getting hit in the playoffs where he bounced off both the boards, it is in a 2007 top 10 playoff plays or something, I can find it if you want Top 10 plays from 2007 playoffs #8 is Quincey getting hit into the bench, its at 1:19

Kyle Quincey fight I just uploaded

draw? no, snuff beaten out of him? no... he got slightly edged thats it.. no big deal, both guys can leave the fight feeling as if they won because they had their moments, roughly the same punches thrown, roy had more behind his punches in the flurry he had, and osgood landed a couple then a take down

I used to have the video of Tinardi jumping Lidstorm.. it was during a huge scrum and Lidstrom tried to fight back but was overwhelmed and Yzerman grabbed Tinardi to hold him off

Kyle Quincey fight I just uploaded

Kindl had a fight or two a year in the OHL I would hardly call that all the time. Kopecky is a big guy who had a couple seasons in the WHL so he was probably challenged quite a bit there... he has fought on occasion, Chelios was never much of a fighter but can you blame the guy for not wanting to trade punches at age 45? especially with his huge nose, if that thing got busted up he wouldn't be able to see lol... I think if Kopecky and Quincey played a full season with the Wings they would both had a couple solid fights

"We have no interest in him -- I mean zero"

easy tiger... Sutton isn't FAST, he may have almost par top end speed but he has real bad mobility around the ice... which is expected from a big boy like him

"We have no interest in him -- I mean zero"

Andy Sutton has one of the worst mean streaks in the league... the guy is a total headhunter when he wants to be

"We have no interest in him -- I mean zero"

Sutton is bigger, stronger, a bit more offensive upside, pretty willing fighter, takes more dumb penalties, slower, dumber Markov is a smarter player, wins more battles for loose pucks, not as strong, not as big, not as much offensive abilities, not very willing fighter, quicker player

Wings sign Drake for 1-year, $550K

well I just finished checking all St.Louis hit highlight reels on NHL.com and this is what I found for Dallas Drake (runs over a guy who doesn't have the puck) http://www.nhl.com/video/app?component=%24...=2&sp=s***s (Drake with the forecheck, King with the big hit) http://www.nhl.com/video/app?component=%24...=2&sp=s***s (nice open ice hit here) http://www.nhl.com/video/app?component=%24...=2&sp=s***s
