Burke's done an amazing job with the team... the fact that people besides Leafs' fans are getting excited is proof enough. I live in T.O. and have never been more excited for a Leafs' season to start. Plenty of team toughness, rock solid D, some questionable goaltending but plenty of upside to it. The only problem right now appears to be the top 6 but Burke is definitely trying to fix that. Signing guys like Tyler Bozak without giving up any draft picks/prospects is just what they needed. I wasn't really thrilled about drafting Kadri but hopefully he can live up to the hype.

Which of the following UFC/MMA "dream fights" would you like
skacore replied to BeeRYCE's topic in Other Sports
Fedor/Brock is ions ahead of any other fight for me... would love to see Fedor finish him off and watch all the new age MMA fans crawl back into their holes. Machida/Silva would be interesting as well but will never happen because they've already said they won't fight each other... so we'll never know. GSP/Silva for me would be a nightmare, I'd be scared s***less for GSP for a month prior to the fight. Not that I don't believe in him... but Silva is just too dangerous HE should be the one going up in weight, not GSP. I could watch GSP beat on BJ forever though I'd love CroCop vs. Arlovski or Alexander Emelianenko vs. anyone worth while I would also love to see Barnett/Fedor eventually happen -
yeah Scott Parker is a horrible fighter
-
DJ King is signed with St. Louis and besides him Andre Roy is the only other NHL caliber player but he's also a head case and probably wouldn't fit in here Parker retired Fritz and Peters can't skate or play, Boulerice is marginally better McCarty and Downey we've seen enough of to know what they provide
-
half of one of the best power forward's ever is still a good deal @ 1.5 mill ... half of the old Bertuzzi is still 40-50 points
-
we could just not play Holmstrom-Draper-Williams at even strength and run 3 lines
-
well at least you can find something positive out of this signing... Abdelkader can also get another 10 games when Z's out with his own back problems and 10 more when Franzen is concussed from a roughing in a scrum
-
I really hope we do sign Bertuzzi. I thought the Eaves signing was ok, Williams are bad (like most people felt) but if we get Bertuzzi I couldn't give a s*** about Williams anymore... Bert has unreal hands I'd love to see him play on Datsyuk's wing and stay healthy for a year, 30 goals and some size/toughness up front in the top 6... perfect.
-
not in hockey my friend
-
that goes both ways.... you are Bertuzzi, you're captain and linemate was victim of a headshot and out with concussions... you are on the ice in a blowout game with the guy who put your captain out... you grab onto his jersey and ask him to fight but he ignores you and continue to skate... he's knows damn right you are right there behind him grabbing at his jersey... you punch him in the back of the head with your glove on then when you guys hit the ice everyone else piles on... Stick swinging incidents are 100 times worse
-
goto 8:22 if Robitaille wasn't such a scrawny little weakling he could have possibly done some damage, is that not a suckerpunch to the back of the head? that's even worse so because he didn't tug his jersey for 3 seconds telling him "it's coming"
-
McCarty's attack on Lemieux is the same s*** if not worse, he suckered Lemieux out of the blue. Bertuzzi was tugging at Moore's jersey letting him know it was coming. Moore knew it was coming and refused to defend himself, plain and simple. It's happened 1000 times before just like Moore's hit on Naslund has happened 1000 times before. Moore's neck just happened to break partially because Bertuzzi is a big guy and 3-4 other guys piling on doesn't help either, it was an unfortunate event. A lot of people look at Moore's result and feel so bad for the guy, I look at the action instead and what actually happened... it's really not that uncommon.
-
ok... a guy died earlier this year by hitting his head on the ice, yeah he didn't have a helmet on but the impact is still enough to scramble a brain... if Moore turned around after Bertuzzi held onto him for 5 seconds, he would have gotten an ass kicking, but he decided, in a blow out game, to ignore the 240 pound bruiser hanging off his back and pretend like he wasn't about to get socked in the back of the head, like every hockey player has had to them at least once in their career.. it's unfortunate but Moore had it coming and he knew it, he chose not to defend himself, silly mistake and a very severe one for Steve Moore
-
Naslund's head could have smashed off the ice... there is always a chance for something horrible to happen. Hockey can be a very dangerous sport, especially if you aren't aware of your surroundings or unwilling to defend yourself like Moore was.
-
That's your opinion... what Moore did to Naslund was as dangerous as what Bertuzzi did to Moore, the results were just different. That's it, that's all it comes down to... leave it at that.
-
I'd actually love to see Thornton get the C and lead them to a cup within the next few years, maybe one of the best players in the world would finally get the recognition he deserves?
-
dude Crosby is the face of his franchise he should never have to fight...but he still does occasionally and he's shown some balls IMO to step in for himself or teammates if necessary I think better examples would be: Brad Stuart, Jason Williams, Kris Draper, Kirk Maltby
-
I think the idea is that Eaves/Williams are gritty
-
he'll stand up for himself and teammates, so no
-
well honestly it's one of the most believable things I've ever seen him post on this board that's why I gave him the benefit of a doubt
-
assuming eva unit zero's statement is true (I don't think he'd just make it up) that would be unreal... if the Wings were willing to split with those 2 to make room to sign Bertuzzi and get a prospect in the process, that's a big time win/win
-
41 goals, like 29 assists
