  1. LIKE I SAID, Grigorenko is not necessarily "on the top line", but he's going to be used as a SCORING WINGER. If you want to you can look at the lines like this for all I care: Holmstrom Zetterberg Samuelsson Grigorenko Datsyuk Bertuzzi Cleary Filppula Franzen Maltby Draper Kopecky he won't be getting #1 PP time and he won't see ANY time on the PK, Zetterberg can also takes shifts on Datsyuk's wing... he is not getting big minutes but when he is used it will be to score goals.. the reason I like him over Hudler on Datsyuk's wing is because of his size, style of play, and it can't hurt they are both Russian... I don't see where Hudler is going to fit into this line up for 07-08, unless we make some sort of trade. BTW Samuelsson is signed for the 07-08 season, he just had a pretty good post season, where does he fit in your line up? or did Holland trade him for a couple of 1st rounders? :looney:

Regehr/Phaneuf/Warrener are all pretty good scrappers
  3. I wasn't aware that I'm retarded but anyways, what would YOU change about these lines then? I'm curious... Grigorenko Datsyuk Bertuzzi Holmstrom Zetterberg Samuelsson Cleary Filppula Franzen Maltby Draper Kopecky you can type in Zetterberg's line ahead of Datsyuk's if you feel necessary, but in the end it's the same, we have 2 (hopefully) big lines that will be a huge scoring threat, some offense/grinding on our 3rd, and grinding/defensive awareness on our 4th.. because Grigorenko is on that line doesn't necessarily mean he is getting top minutes, Zetterberg can take shifts on the wing, and he will not be getting #1 PP time or any time on the PK I like those lines because I think they would have some nice chemisty and it's something to work around... 2 fast, agile, shifty Russians with Bertuzzi's size could be lethal, Z's line should work with all of them being Swedish and having played with each other before, Z can play set up man, Samuelsson loves to shoot, and you know what Homer is all about... Cleary/Filppula/Franzen all have great hustle and forechecking abilities and they are all coming into their own in the NHL and I think this would be a fastastic combination of size and skill.... 4th line doesn't need any explanation you don't bring over an elite scorer from Russia and give him 5 minutes a game on a checking line, sorry
  4. I kind of hope I am wrong because I would love to see a spot upon up for some grit and size, but I am pretty certain that Grigorenko is atleast going to start the season as a scoring line winger and I'm excited to see what he can do
  5. I like some of the trade options you put up there (Torres/Lapointe) but I don't understand why people list a set of 4 lines and then at the bottom they put Kopecky/Grigorenko, or Hudler/Grigorenko... not gonna happen, this is not NHL07 on your game console... Grigorenko is coming over to play. At this point I think Hudler HAS to be trade bait we simply do not have room for him.. Grigorenko Datsyuk Bertuzzi Holmstrom Zetterberg Samuelsson Cleary Filppula Franzen Maltby Draper Kopecky (if Ellis resigns with the organization he will most likely be used as #13, unless Wings make a big signing we might see Kopecky here) Calder: don't resign Hudler: like I said, I think he's gotta be tradebait or something... For D.. Lidstrom Kronwall Schneider Lilja Lebda Chelios (#7 Quincey/Meech, possibly Kindl) I'd rather Markov > Schneider but I think we're gonna end up with these D, we simply don't have room to pick up any UFA (like Sarich), unless we decide to let both Schneider and Markov go but I really really don't see that happening, our D was fantastic this year.... Goalies will remain Hasek/Osgood

Brad Stuart is a horrible player/fighter and he's due for like 1 fight a year lol

    Matthew Barnaby

he is in a similar situation to Chris Simon, both are old, offensive contributions are on the downfall but can still contribute as a 4th liner, the difference being that Barnaby has had some recent concussion problems and might be set for retirement, while Simon is still in good enough form to take on just about any fighter in the league

that's not a very good example because 1. the number of fights is really irrelevant, people were clearly taking liberties on our players during the regular season and we paid for it, we refused to stick up for ourselves and fight back, but if you really want to break down the Wing's 19 fights in total let's see.... Bootland (5), Norton (5) - neither of them are a part of the current line up Markov (3) - 2 decent scraps, props to that, but his 3rd was the punch he threw at Cajanek (DYG.com adds those) Lila (3) - 2 decent scraps, his 3rd fight was him getting pounded by Gauthier Bertuzzi (1) - lol I guess he fought Phaneuf Franzen (1) - pretty sure he wasn't aware he was in a fight and had no intentions of fighting back Lebda (1) - nice to see him try and stand up for himself, never threw a punch though so realisticly our players managed 6 (Markov 2, Lilja 2, Bertuzzi 1, Lebda 1) fights in a full season + playoffs

I wouldn't want Holmstrom, Bertuzzi, and Markov to start fighting more than necessary, but like I said before it would be nice if Franzen/Lilja worked on it a bit, this IS hockey afterall...

    An Enforcer

Chris Simon is old, that's why we sign him for 1-2 years, he can still take on just about anyone in the league and althought he may not fight for fan entertainment, if someone is taking liberties on a teammate he is going to be there. I support a true enforcer who sticks up for his team mates, I don't care about the meaningless fights to see who's stronger than who... 3-4 fights a year would work for me aslong as they are for the right cause (Torres hit, Barker's boarding, Mitchell's hit, Pronger's headshot, etc.) and worst case scenerio if he doesn't come to the aid of his teammates, we have a 4th line player making under a million who can put up 20 points easy Todd Fedoruk is not done enforcing I believe he is going to be back on the top of his game soon, after getting the metal plate put into his face his attitude did not change at all, he had a slugfest with Simon and took a huge KO from Orr, but his face was fine, he was just knocked out.. Fedoruk is still young, can easily take a regular shift and put up 15-20 points (the pace he was going anyways), he is a physical pressure on the ice and a hard forechecker, and has one of the best attitudes in the game

The organization should put Franzen and Lilja through some boxing lessons this offseason, I could respect both of them so much if they had the element of sticking up for teammates so their game

    An Enforcer

Hartnell would be a welcomed addition but the guy can hardly fight, he would be here for point production and physical play. And from what I've seen, Asham is hardly a physical presence on the ice, he is a great middleweight fighter, but he isn't much of a hitter/forechecker and most of his fights are meaningless The only two "enforcers" I would like to see the Wings pick up through free agency this year are Todd Fedoruk and Chris Simon, they can fight anyone in the league and take a regular shift, and both would be under 1 million huh? no, Fischer had a hand full of fights before and after the Thornton beating and the Hartnell TKO

    Bargain Free Agent Targets?

Simon is old, and I agree we need to start getting younger, but his impact on the team isn't big enough to worry about his age, I would love to have had Simon in the playoffs this year for the Flames/Sharks/Ducks Fedoruk was TKOed by Derek Boogaard and KOed by Colton Orr, like I said, not a good year, but it just makes him a lot easier to pick up and begin to rebuild. With those two tunings aside, he has a had some great fights, there is nobody more willing to fight than Fedoruk, so yeah, eventually he'll get tuned but he'll be back... in the last 2 years hes had a couple solid draws with both Laraque, and Boogaard, probably the 2 most dominate fighters around right now.

    Bargain Free Agent Targets?

I really like Arron Asham but not too sure if he would be the right guy to pick up. He is a 20 point player and not much else, he will fight on occasion and is a good fighter, but I've always thought of him as kind of a spot picker, he won't fight HWs and most of his fights are long, meaningless, and somewhat entertaining. I've never really seen him as an ultimate team guy who fights to send a message or protect a teammate's honor, more so just for roar from the crowd (which isn't necessarily a bad thing) and he doesn't bring much size (5'11, 205) and doesn't hit much A couple UFA I would really really like to see in a Red Wing's jersey are Chris Simon and Todd Fedoruk, I know they both had pretty horrid seasons but we took Bertuzzi didn't we? Chris Simon (around 1 mill), 6'3 230, 25 point producer, playoff experience, team guy who will fight in a teammate's honor, can take on anyone in the league, a big body for the 4th line forecheck and cycle, he only has a couple more good years in him but with our options/current line up I think he would be a great addition, by the time he's gone we'll have more options Todd Fedoruk (half a mill), 6'2 240, yeah he has a shattered face but he has a great attitude and still a ton of potential, I believe that he has learned from his mistakes and will be a force again, he is one of the greatest team guys in the league right now, will fight anyone in the league for a team mate's honor/an energy boost, and the best thing is that he's still young and can play a regular shift, he was starting to turn into a decent 4th liner (due for 15-25 points in a full season), I really really want to see Todd come here to rebuild himself 07-08 Lines: Grigorenko Datsyuk Holmstrom Bertuzzi Zetterberg Samuelsson Franzen Filppula Cleary Fedoruk/Simon Draper Maltby Kopecky Calder: won't be resigned Hudler: has to be moved, no room

WCF Game 6 (5/22) GDT: Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET

Lebda is sooo out of place out there... he just doesn't have the strength to play against bigger forwards and it doesn't help he is out of position most of the time

Kyle Calder Has a Broken Hand

I would like to see either Kopecky or Ellis take his place... Kopecky because he has size, some physical play, and I'm sure he's eager to get back in the line up. Ellis because he has size, is very strong along the boards (where a lot of this series is being played) and was the only reason the Griffin's series went to 7 games. (7 points in 7 games, a hat-trick, a shorthanded OT winner)

    Is re-signing Maltby 3-yrs a BIG MISTAKE?

I know where you are coming from because I am worried about our prospects as well.. I don't expect much of a change in our roster next year and would love to get a little more toughness up front, but at the same time it's true... he is about as valuable as they come for less than a mill. His contributions to the team are HUGE even with limited ice time and scoring opportunities... As for Helm/Abdelkader they are unlikely to make the jump right into the NHL and in a few years who knows what kind of roster openings we might have

a point that has to be brought up in this series is that the combined goaltenders height and weight in this series is 12'4 408lbs bryzgalov(6'3 208) giguere(6'1 200) while together hasek and osgood are only 11'11 336lbs how are we going to overcome this fork in the road
