Chara may not be fancy but he sure gets it done at both ends of the ice. You don't get 19 goals by accident... Chara is just more valuable than Keith in all aspects really, he gets it done defensively, offensively, is one of the most intimidating figures in the league, stands up for team mates... Keith is a great player and he's only going to get better but I think you (and only you) are really overrating him. And I think a year in Calgary is all Bouwmeester needs before people realize he is probably a top 5 defenseman in the league and I'd bank on him being a Norris nominee

umm no those are 3 offensive players... if we were defending a lead probably Richards, Morrow, Doan, Crosby, Iginla... you think Dany Heatley, Joe Thornton, or Rick Nash wouldn't make Russia or something?? the fact that there is a even legitimate discussion regarding players like Heatley (50 goal scorer) and Thornton (100+ points) to make the team speaks volumes of the quality of team Canada could put on the ice... when you have to select from 90 point scorers to decide which of them ISN'T going to make the team(Savard, Spezza)... you're in good shape they have the best team on paper, period... until 2010 Vancouver we won't know if they have the best team on the ice, but they definitely have the tools to be

well Helm wasn't even invited and to be honest he'd probably do well but that's just not going to happen until he makes a bigger splash in the NHL and you say the problem is having too many captains and not enough soldiers, I agree, but look at the guys Canada has on their bottom 6, Shane Doan, Brendan Morrow, Mike Richards, Milan Lucic possibly, there's your soldiers I know watching Helm 2 playoffs in a row almost everyone was in awe of his play and he was a pleasant surprise, but fans in Philly get to see that year round from Mike Richards but on top of that energetic, hit on sight style of play he also has point/game scoring ability, hits to hurt, and was a runner up for the Selke, that's who Helm would be competing against on the 4th line centerman position...

Cleary? No way... I think he should be honoured to be invited but that's as far as that goes. Lecavalier - Crosby - Iginla Heatley - Getzlaf - Nash E. Staal - Thornton - Doan Lucic - M. Richards - Morrow (J. Carter) Pronger - Niedermayer Bouwmeester - Weber Keith - Phaneuf (M. Green) Luongo Brodeur (S. Mason) That is my ideal top 12 forwards, incredible size and skill, plenty of scoring and leadership, great checking/energy line. Lucic is a longshot but I have him there because when Canada ends up losing in international competition it's usually because they get away from playing the Canadian brand of hockey, Lucic doesn't know how to stray away from that because that's all he knows how. Lucic, Richards, and Morrow IMO would be the most intimidating line in the league and they can all contribute offense as well. Jeff Carter is my "sub" but could be inserted into the line up anywhere if for some reason scoring goes dry. I think D is pretty straight forward, Green is the #7 much like Carter, he doesn't provide much besides offense so he's always an option if we need to insert him into the line up. I'd play Luongo over Brodeur but wouldn't be surprised to see Brodeur started either. 3rd string isn't playing anyways so I'd bring the young Steve Mason and let him grow accustomed to the Olympics and Team Canada.... if he does have to play he's not half bad anyways.

Ferraro is fiesty but I honestly think he will work completely on his scoring touch and will bring little toughness to the Wings' line up... i'm sure he'll finish his hits when he has a chance but i wouldn't expect him to fight on an semi regular basis... Ray Ferraro as his dad + going through the Wings organization will take the fight right out of him...literally as for Kyle Beach, there's a bust for ya... i think he'll turn out to be about as good as Brian Sutherby and if he manages 30 points in the show i'll be surprised...bad attitude and he's really not tough at all... Beach loses most his fights but he did manage a rare win by pummeling Ferraro at center ice

sorry dude but don't get your hopes up... Ferraro is fighting in juniors about the same amount that Jason Williams was when he was in the O.. add to that an anti-fighting father in the sport and a couple years of the red wings preaching their thing on him... he'll be soft in no time, there's no denying his skill though i'm sure he'll still be a spark plug out there
