If you are referring to the up comming year, this is a TERRIBLE time to claim a team as "the team to beat". Right now the resigning period is currently going on, followed by the draft and free agency. A lot can happen between this very day and the start of the season. I'd hold of off to October for any threads like this. As for the post I think the pivotal game was game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals when Chicago dismantaled Philadelphia. They pretty much had an easy ride all the way up until the 2-2 tie. Game 5 was the big one. Edit: Clarity.

I agree with you. I cannot stand when posters post topics like this out of jealously or whatever the case may be. Just because our team didn't hoist the cup this year doesn't mean you can nit pick the champs for every little thing. They did after all win the cup, they must of done something right, I mean come on! But as for Toews, he deserved it. The guys got tallent, and player an incredible first 3 series. Remeber the MVP is for the entire playoffs, not just the finals round. I have no problem with Toews winning it. If it wasn't him I'd say Niemi would be runner up. A few other guys had there moments, but not as a complete dominate playoffs like Toews and Niemi did.

I never wear mine.) and I thought to myself wow, how hideous is that thing. I liked 98 though, with the silver mesh brim I think it had, that was kinda cool...

I guess I worded it wrong. He is one of my favorite players in the NHL and he's a gifted and very talented player. His personality just doesn't play the "superstar" part. Having someone more marketed I guess is what I kind of was getting at. Does that help clarify it a little better? I hope... lol.

Alright so I was just looking at some logos and was curious what NHL team that is no longer is missed the most. Vote in the poll and leave a comment as to what team you picked ant why. This doesn't have to be from a realistic stand point or if "the team would survive/make it" today. It could be any reason at all. Also it wouldn't nessciarly mean the relocated team would have to go away, just a re-appearance/additon of your old time favorite. For my pick, I am going to go with the Hartford Whalers for a few reasons. 1. Growing up I've always liked the team. 2. They had a catchy yet effective logo. 3. I loved the colors they used together. 4. Good state for hockey. 5. I liked a lot of players that have doned that jersey in "the day".

First, sorry to hear your dad is Bruin's fan Second, that may be wise. But I just don't see Fowler playing the same kind of role Chara would. Cap wise, good choice, physical play and defensive knowledge I'd say keep Chara until Fowler matures a little longer. I was thinking the same thing. After Lidstrom we don't have one... Datsyuk and Zetterberg are franchise players, but they both share the spot and don't fill that "superstar" role. Wouldn't that be somethin' I'd start a riot in the streets if Kenny boy pulled that off (not in a million years) But still!

Yeah I really want to see Hartford make a comeback, the link I previously posted, they are trying to push to get a team back there. That would be so awesome if they did! As long as they don't move a current team there, add em' as a new expansion team, along with a team in seattle or Quebec!

True, I guess I used the wrong terminology. The correct word I suppose would be non-active. I am just saying like if you could bring one of those teams back that DID exist as a new franchise, not swapping out a current team.
