I love the NHL draft, get to see that first overall pick, players who get picked considerably higher/lower then expected, the block buster trades! Love it! Next comes free agency! Great time of the year (besides the actual season).

Anyone see that mad chunk of home games? Like 6-8 games in a row. That time frame will be a key to getting some ground in the points race in my opinion. Get rollin' on all cylinders!

After the rumors of Jagr wanting to sign somewhere else this year it looks as if he's changed his mind and is close to staying with the Flyers for another season. Here's the link. I wonder what is is that changed his mind in staying with Philly? Yeah the f-bomb from King Henrik was awesome. That guy is a cool cat. But the show itself was somewhat boring. I always watch it just for the hell of it, knowing that its almost the last little bit of hockey until next season. (Draft being the last apple in the bag).

That is why the implemented the draft lottery; However it doesn't always work out the best. Since I dislike basketball I am not 100% on this but I thought there lottery was all non-playoff teams, making it harder odds to guarantee that number one pick. NHL's is the worst 5, its not too hard to get the best pick, let alone a top five pick.

Yes that is true, but besides for Hasek none of those goalies were over 40 when they played for the Wings. And there is a difference between OLD and ANCIENT lol. That 40 year mark for a goalie is huge in my opinion. Most goalies have a hard time performing well and moving around with ease at that age. Hasek should have an asterisk besides his name because he is just one in a million when it comes to performing at a high level still. I wouldn't want him either though, he's a few years away from 50. I am sure we could find a better backup then him or Roloson. No disrespect to either of them though.

Roloson? Yikes, like you mean DWAYNE ROLOSON?! Lol! Sorry but no thanks. If it came to him or what we got, I'd rather stick with Joey MacDonald. Roloson is what, 42 years old now? I wouldn't want to risk signing him.

Just to help out my case here take a look a the 2002 NHL draft: Jiri Hudler- 58th, Tomas Fleischmann- 63rd, Valterri Filppula- 95th, Derek Meech, Jonathan Ericsson- 291st. That is just in one year, all those players are NHL players and none in the first round, Hudler was 2 picks away from being a 3rd rounder. Ericsson was the last pick in the entire draft. Now I am not saying all those guys are "superstars" like you like to throw around so loosely but they are al NHL regulars, and Filppula the best of the bunch. Now mind you this is ONE draft, I can go on an on about gems we take in later rounds. So that first round pick you mention doesn't mean dick all. Yeah yeah yeah things are going to get worse in Detroit, just like everyone thought when Yzerman was gone, and Shanahan. The world was over and Detroit would be outside looking in. All those old guys suck!!! Well how's 21 straight years off playoff hockey sound? Pretty good, we'll be fine. Detroit is one of the best run organizations in the league, if not the best. And you think Parise is going to Minnesota because they will "offer the most money without a doubt" then you are flippin' crazy because there is no way in hell he wants to sign a long term contract with a team that is not on the uprise. So go back and get your facts straight, look up the definition of NHL superstar, does some research on Red Wings drafting, lay of those stupid pills, come down off cloud 9, and then MAYBE you will understand a little bit more with what's going on!

I wouldn't mind having Bobby Ryan in the winged wheel. They wouldn't do it but I'd like to move Franzen along with some kind of prospect(s)/pick(s). Depending on what. It will cost a lot to nab him though.

I don't think Campbell and Bouwmeester should have cap hits like that. Both are overrated in my opinion. I wonder what Suter will get, and for that matter Weber?!

Considering he put up 50+ points I wouldn't mind him on a one year deal at no more then 1.5 million. But then again looking at the younger guys and some of the other free agents we could spend money on its like ehhhh, no thanks. Like stated above, he has never played in the West. I don't think he would make the switch now; But then again he was rumored to come here last off season. Maybe finish out his career with the Penguins? Might make Mario all warm and fuzzy.

I don't have a problem with him coming back, he still plays a high intensity game and puts up points, glad to see the Finish Flash continue on his HOF career!

The NHL plans to use a "Coyote type plan" on the New Jersey Devils regarding their finances. I wonder if this increases the chances that Parise leaves for free agency. I sure hope it does, as long as he comes to Hockeytown! CBS SPORTS

Well they traded with Washington, so you never know! I wouldn't mind J. Staal at all if they;d actually trade with us. But I like Garrison on the point or possibly Schultz. For a 4th line role I don't mind Prust. There aren't many players after Suter and Parise that I would be extremely happy about. There also is E. Kane (regarding the article about not wanting to sign) but realistically Detroit acquiring him isn't going to happen. Also, I wouldn't mind the trading option to bring in some talent.

I was doing a lot of research on this and I forget where I read it already to provide a link but one of the sites I read stated something about that no doubt Tampa plans to use him as their starter for the up coming season.
