Bertuzzi what a glorious chance. Filppula and his linemates draw a 10th penalty for the season.

Great pics as usual! Especially like that last one, what a great jersey the Griffins wear. Quality pics.

McGrath's been pretty impressive this season. Griffins win in a shootout. Finally! Seems like we lost every single one last season. 2/2 at home!

No Axelsson, no Delmore. Hope both injuries aren't too serious. Griffins down 2-1 nearing the end of the 2nd. No Tatar either, maybe he's going to be sent to the OHL? Seems strange that he wouldn't be playing otherwise.

Abbotsford Heat (4-1-2-1) @ Grand Rapids Griffins (1-4-0-0) 7:00 pm EDT The Grand Rapids Griffins will finally make their long awaited home debut when they take on the Abbotsford Heat. The Griffins will be looking to snap a 4 game losing streak when they begin their 3 games in 3 nights stand. The Griffins have played the least amount of games in their division and are currently sitting last with a mere 2 points. Abbotsford are 3rd with 11 points. Perhaps concerningly for the Griffins, Abbotsford have scored the second most goals in the league with 29, the Griffins joint last with 11. All signs point to a dangerous match-up but being at home for the first time should help. A lot has changed since the Griffins last took to the ice. Veteran NHL centreman Michael Nylander will make an unusual Griffins debut as he attempts to get into game shape. His presence could be a nice boost to a young team. The Griffins have also acquired Patrick Rissmiller on reassignment by the New York Rangers. Both are expected to play tonight. Tomas Tatar finally made his debut in the last game and had an assist and was +1. He was on a line with highly skilled prospects Mursak and McGrath. The lines are hard to predict as are the scratches, hopefully no Detroit prospects sit it out. Lastly, Newbury and Williams need to produce. Projected lines: Ritola - Newbury - Williams Axelsson - Nylander - Tardif Tatar - McGrath - Mursak Rissmiller - Emmerton - Pare (Walsh/Vigilante/Lemieux/Crosty) Kindl - Janik Kolosov - Delmore Piche - Ehrhardt (Pyett) Larsson McCollum Individual Leaders: Goals: Axelsson, Delmore (2) Assists: Ritola, Janik (2) Points: Axelsson, Janik (3) PIM: Newbury (22), Crosty (12) Plus/Minus: Ehrhardt, Janik (+2) Notes: * Nylander will debut and Rissmiller is also a chance. * The Griffins have conceded a massive 14 goals from their past two games. Ok last time I did this it seemed to work... Avs win 4-2. Colorado prove to be too tough at home, prepared to play the full 60. Rookies O'Reilly and Duchene continue from where they left off against us and cause havoc. Howard will suffer yet another loss and more pressure will follow. Zetterberg and Cleary score for Detroit.

Pretty good performance, especially after a real shaky start. Was surprisingly impressed with Pyett actually. Looked good on the PP. Mursak being out on the ice at the end of the game protecting a 1 goal lead goes to show how far he's come in a season. Love his speed, hands and shot. Ritola goal and assist, very good. Could be playing NHL on another team right now. Axelsson had chances galore in the 1st, and Tatar looked sharp. Nylander, after a rusty start, was great!

Griffins down 2-0. Larsson.... Weak goals to let in. Tatar looks good, hit thr post with one shot. Looks quick and plays very aggressive.

Oh man, I was so excited when I heard they'd be broadcasting the game Oon AHL Live. However immediately after I thought the same as you, I bet they'll black me out. Ah well, at least we might have a fall-back plan now... At least we should have a few people watching the game tonight though, would love to finally get some reports on how the boys are looking. Love all the feedback we get after the home games.

    Griffins Pictures!

Your pictures are terrific, good to have you on board again this season. Would love a snap or two of Tatar, as well as the usual suspects, Mursak, Ritola and Kindl. You must be bored of taking pics of them for me.

    Frolov to the Wings?

Just like there's NO WAY the Kings would accept that deal.

Why does this matter? He's no longer a Wing...

Michael Nylander - Conditioning with Grand Rapids Griffins

While a bit puzzled like everyone else, I'm quite happy with this move. The Griffins have no lines that are really gelling at the moment so this won't hurt, and if Nylander clicks and starts performing then it can only be a good thing for Grand Rapids and the confidence of the team. At 1-4, they need more wins.

Cool pics! I've never been to Disneyworld but I have been to Disneyland and it was amazing. Also went to Disneyland Paris about 4 years ago and it was really great. Nothing beats Space Mountain!

    [GDT] 10/10 - Grand Rapids @ Toronto

Grand Rapids Griffins (1-0-0-0) @ Toronto Marlies (1-0-0-0) 3:00 pm EDT The Grand Rapids Griffins finally play their second game of the 2009/10 season when they take on the Toronto Marlies. After sitting out opening night as a healthy scratch, 2nd round pick from last years draft Tomas Tatar is expected to make his debut for the Griffins. After a strong debut, Thomas McCollum is likely to be sitting tonight at the expense of Daniel Larsson who returns to Grand Rapids after accompanying Detroit to Swden. This is the second of five away games for the Griffins to start the season. Dick Axelsson made an impressive North American debut as he had a two point outing. Evan McGrath had the GWG and the line of two Franky's and McGrath have had no troubles picking up where they left off. Projected lines: Ritola - Newbury - Williams Lemieux - McGrath - Pare Axelsson - Emmerton - Tardif Crosty - Vigilante - Tatar (Mursak/Walsh) Kindl - Janik Kolosov - Delmore Pyett - Ehrhardt (Piche) Larsson McCollum Individual Leaders: Goals: Axelsson, Delmore, McGrath (1) Assists: Axelsson, Pare, Tardif (1) Points: Axelsson (2), 4 tied (1) PIM: Crosty (7), Mursak, Newbury (2) Plus/Minus: 7 tied (+1) Notes: * Daniel Larsson is expected to get the start, his first for the season. * Tomas Tatar should make his debut tonight. TV/Radio: Internet stream: Pay-per-view: AHL Live (Perhaps also try uk_redwing's thread ) Grand Rapids Radio Broadcast: Wood Radio
  25. Grand Rapids Griffins (1-2-0-0) @ San Antonio Rampage (4-1-1-0) 17th- 7:30 pm CDT * 18th- 3:00pm CDT MISSION: Find back of net The Grand Rapids Griffins have gone 5 periods without scoring and will need every bit of offence they can muster as they take on the surging San Antonio Rampage. The Rampage have one of the best records early in the season and they will be confident on beating a struggling Griffins side. Key additions Williams and Newburry are both off to underwhelming starts as they have combined for a single point. Highly touted prospects Cory Emmerton and Jan Mursak have contributed even less. Thankfully for the Griffins, this back-to-back away series against San Antonio will see out their 5 game road trip to start the season. They will then seek comfort in the confines of the Van Andel Arena for a whopping 6 straight games. Defenceman Jakub Kindl was scratched in the previous game, assuming he was injured. Not sure what his status is for these two games but hopefully he will be back in the line-up tonight. Goaltending has been the Griffins strong point in the first three games, with McCollum posting the impressive numbers of 1.01 GAA and 0.964 SV%. Tomas Tatar is apparently having Visa issues so his status is unknown. Projected lines: Ritola - Newbury - Williams Lemieux - McGrath - Pare Axelsson - Emmerton - Tardif Crosty - Vigilante - Mursak (Tatar*/Walsh) Kindl - Janik Kolosov - Delmore Pyett - Ehrhardt (Piche) McCollum Larsson Individual Leaders: Goals: Axelsson, Delmore, McGrath, Janik, Williams (1) Assists: Axelsson, Pare, Tardif, Ritola (1) Points: Axelsson (2), 7 tied (1) PIM: Newbury (20), Crosty (7) Plus/Minus: Axelsson, Ehrhardt (+1) Notes: * McCollum has been strong in his opening two games and Fraser might roll with the hot goalie again. * The Griffins are 93.8% on the PK having killed 15 of 16 PP's.
