Filppula is all over the ice. Look at his ice-time! Off the charts!
-
Scoreless after 1. Griffins outshooting Texas 8-5, McCollum in net. Kindl not playing. Has to be injured.
-
Wings looking real good now. 2nd and 3rd lines looking crisp. Eaves is impressing me.
-
Abdelkader's first regular season point?
-
Is every single freaking play going to be whistled? This is the worst period of hockey ever.
-
What is Ericsson's obsession with icing the puck? Kindl please.
-
Looks like Tatar won't play again tonight, something with visa issues and him currently being in Toronto? Not sure exactly, but don't expect him to play tonight. Hopefully Mursak gets another game. Game underway in about 40 minutes.

What's Smith shown though other than being injury prone and having off ice issues? You can have a crack at Axelsson's off ice attitude but Smith's far from a saint either. Axelsson is different to Ryno, firstly he's proved he can play and produce in the SEL and secondly he could have easily stayed in Sweden for another year instead opting to come to North America and play for the Griffins. That is a great sign.

1. Smith....nothing to get overly excited about at this point. Poor man's Kindl. Of course he's still young, was a high pick and the Wings like his potential so you never know. 2. Andersson is a very solid prospect, 3rd line centre, possibly a plug hole on the 2nd. Good size, responsible in his own end, not sure whether he has star potential though. Perhaps a more well rounded version of Abdelkader. 3. Nestrasil, I like him too. Great size, offensive potential, just needs to improve his skating and continue to play more physical to take advantage of his size. 4. Axelsson, I've been syaing for a while now that in terms of pure offensive potential, he has no rival in our system. Maybe that's changed given we drafted Tatar and Ferraro but he's still right up there.

Wings had him pigeon holed as a defensive defenceman when it turns out he's a point producing PP quarterback. We messed up, simple. He's the same guy he always was, the talent was always there.

Kings win 4-3. They get up 4-1 before the Wings score 2 late goals but it's all to no avail. Prove me wrong boys, prove me wrong. Our line-up looks as weak as it has in a number of years. Look at that 3rd line and give me a convincing argument as to why we're going to win. Doesn't help when our defence isn't interested in defending and we have one of the worst goaltending combinations in the league. I just hope Flip can keep his mini streak alive and Helm/Abdelkader/Eaves impress. While he's not playing well, if Datsyuk is out we'll need a miracle. Backs to the wall kind of stuff this.

I'm not sure exactly why but I've never rated Cory that highly. He was always expected to be a major point producer in the OHL and for one reason or not never did. His rookie AHL season was fair but nothing more. The Wings drafted him in the second round and expected him to be drafted in the 1st. They've continously praised his talent but each season he's been in our system he's failed to live up to expectations. I guess it's pretty hypocritical to say but I've always found Mursak to be a similar prospect but with a higher ceiling (even though he's done less).

They're a very good side, loaded with offensive talent. Sullivan hasn't done anything since being drafted, not even sure if he's still in their plans or whether he's contracted, but he's off to a great start. Why isn't Turris with Phoenix? Really high draft pick, spent a season in the NHL, why not give him another? Tikhonov is a pretty good prospect too. They'll be a strong side this year. Key is to peak at the right time though, they could stand to lose a few of these guys throughout the year just as Grand Rapids did last season. Although I doubt Phoenix goes as far as Deroit did...

I wouldn't read too much into Drake_Marcus' posts in regards to Quincey. Otherwise a good poster but he's really blinded by the fact Detroit did no wrong in regards to Quincey. Clearly they did.
-
Ferraro or Nyquist.
-
Staggering, absolutely staggering to think that Derek "I'm an absolute spud" Meech could outplay this guy for a spot in Detroit.
-
Leino was really, really unimpressive tonight. I mean so were the whole team bar maybe May and Filppula.
-
Meech is so bad it's ALMOST funny.
-
Man what a beautiful pass by Eaves! Deserved a goal.
-
Meech is comfortably the worst and most useless, worthless defenceman in the entire NHL.
-
Anyone who singles out Bertuzzi has no clue. He's been one of the very, very few list of players who can hold their head high.
-
I'd rather him over Ericsson. That was a ridiculously pathetic, insipid period. I get about 5 games each regular season, and this is one of them. If Flip had scored on the PS it would've gone some way towards making the night better.
-
Good stuff Ericsson, goes to the penalty box, knows he's a liability out there. Now that's knowing your limitations.
-
Kronwall! Hahahaha! He's having a laugh surely?
-
Ericsson sucks. As does Meech. Howard time.
