Federer and Serena. Yawn.

You think Downey's the type of player that warrants a standing ovation? Really?
-
I would never do that to you.
-
I'm extremely confident Eaves will have a successful season and be a Red Wing for a long, long time.

I know the Oilers were once an absolute powerhouse, and have a great history, but as far as I'm concerned they're one of the biggest 'meh' teams in the league these days. Good on Heatley.

Or, 'good Williams' and 'bad Williams'. -

Haha I love Mattias, what a superstar! As for training camp, can't wait to see what Stephen Johnston can produce. -
I'm really excited about the prospect of having Bertuzzi in Detroit for an entire season, not just a few games heading into the playoffs, but a whole season. I've got a good feeling about this.

Griffins Select a Pair of Fan Submitted 3rd Jerseys

Love the first one, quite plain but exceptionally classy. The second one I don't like so much but it's not terrible. -
Considering in Australia we virtually just get Versus' coverage, the more the better!
-
Honestly, it would be borderline disgraceful if Helm was sent back to Grand Rapids.

Emmerton, Ritola and Pare all have 1 or more seasons of eligibility remaining in the AHL so we were never going to see them. However McGrath and Oulahen were two that were meant to be in the running for the 12/13th forward position but due to the recent signings there's realistically NO WAY either makes it as a Wing. I think there's a slight chance Oulahen clears waivers and McGrath is probably 50/50. I don't Oulahen has a great deal of NHL potential but is a solid, dependable 4th line character guy. McGrath projects to be a 3rd liner down the track, I'm really hoping he clears waivers. Back to my point, how can they 'earn it' when the position has already been taken away from them? It's not as though we're going to trade away Williams and his $1.5 mil salary because we suddenly feel McGrath can hack it in the NHL...
-
Love those lines, although it's hard to see Williams playing on the 4th line but who else would you put there? I'd swap Bertuzzi and Leino though but that depends on whether Flip and Bert have any chemistry, if they do go with your lines.
-
Completely agree. Considering Kopecky got signed for $1.2 mil, how do people complain with Bertuzzi at $1.5? Bertuzzi >>>>> Kopecky. And Eaves at $500k? That deal was awesome.

YES!!! Welcome back Todd!

Devellano says Wings close to signing Bertuzzi

He came here injured, got his body right, started to play good hockey and suffered another little injury which prevented him from playing his best. As for his past, we all make mistakes, obviously he made an exceptionally large one, but as humans we all deserve a second chance and I'd love to have Todd back. -

Why would anyone in their right mind trade a high end prospect for a guy who is close to retirement and a 5/6th defenceman...? Makes zero sense. -
I used to love Huds, probably my 3rd favourite behind Flip and Dats, but now... Been a terrible off-season for his image in my mind. There should be NOTHING to complain about after winning a Stanley Cup.
-
I love Mattias but he needs another season in the AHL. 2010/11 is his time.
-
We'll take the Division and finish top 2-3 in the conference. We'll be a very, very good side once again.
-
Datsyuk - Zetterberg - Holmstrom The usual suspects, provides a huge scoring threat as well as tremendous defence and shut down ability. Holmstrom might be declining but if healthy putting on a line with Dats and Hank could do wonders for him again. Franzen - Filppula - Cleary Filppula gets the chance to centre the 2nd line and for once he has pretty good line-mates who can certainly score. A nice blend of speed and toughness, with scoring ability of course. Leino - Helm - Williams I really like this line, Leino's craftyness, Helm's speed and physicality and Williams' scoring touch. A really young line also which could surprise. The only concern is defensively and they might take some time to gel. Eaves - Draper - Maltby I'm confident Eaves will eventually move up but he'll probably start on the 4th line while seeing occasional time on the PK.
-
15 goals, 30+ points playing mostly on the 3rd line. Capable of more but that's probably more realistic. He's too good to be a 4th liner, but probably not ready for top 6 minutes on this team. I really like his potential and absolutely love this signing.
-
I loooove that 3rd line. Quick, crafty and a lot of potential.
-
Patrick Eaves!!!!! You freaking beauty! And at that price! Even more amazing!

I'm in the 'for Williams' camp. People need to wake up and realise that there's virtually no one left. If we could sign someone who once scored close to 60 points with this very team only a few years ago then we've done well. Williams is a frustrating player no doubt but assuming he'll come cheap it's a good thing, we've lost a lot of offence so we need someone who is capable of putting up the points as he is. Very streaky player who will be a good, cheap addition to the third line.
