Sounds like the typical Red Wings defensive draftee. Great offensive skills and can play on the PP but his defence needs a lot of improvement. Wish he was a little bigger but oh well.
-
1 more pick away, can't wait!!! I love the draft!
-
Detroit #1 fan is going to be pumped with the Ferrero pick! Tell us a bit about him mate, what made you want him so badly? Tomas Tatar has pretty sick stats!!
-
Cheers, thanks mate. I'm not going to get much sleep tonight.
-
Haha yes, because things should never be looked at in isolation...
-
Could someone be so kind as to tell me how many hours and minutes until the draft starts? I need to know what time to wake up or if I should stay up.
-
Haven't you heard? Flip is a bum and we should trade him for a 19th round pick today.
-
Gee, we value loyalty more than ability to perform.

Ottawa Sun: Wings have made lucrative long term offer to Hossa

You make the argument of a 15 year old girl. "Ohhh he received attention during the playoffs, it's no wonder he struggled". Play through it, excel despite it. -
2008-2009 NBA Season Thread (Pistons trade for Allen Iverson)

So, did we draft anyone good? We traded away our 44th or something pick. We've loaded up on forwards. -

Pfft Shaq, he doesn't scare me at all these days. I really want the Pistons to draft Australian PG Patrick Mills, electric young talent. Although in saying that it probably won't happen because he probably doesn't fit the "Pistons DNR". I guess that's why we end up drafting hacks every draft. -

Awesome, so when next seasons playoffs roll around and he once again gets plenty of attention from the opposition and disappears it's all okay then. -

Depth > Hossa. -
Link Surely he's done as a Wing? What possible benefit could there be of re-signing him for another year? I say he should retire and serve as an assistant coach, mentoring the young defencemen.
-
Why would Babcock suddenly entrust Hudler to centre a line, let alone the 2nd line? He'd get Helm to do that before Hudler.
-
He's a highly skilled guy with good size and playmaking abilities. Had a good year in Grand Rapids playing in all situations. His season went to ruin in the latter half due to injuries but I honestly think put him in a high skill environment like the Wings and he would shine.
-
And you'll get back to me when we don't trade Flip? Thanks.
-
See I know what your problem is. You have absolutely no sense whatsoever as to the nature of how highly the Wings organisation rates Flip as a player. None.
-
No, it's mind-blowing how ridiculous the calls are to trade Flip every single year despite the fact he is young, improving, and was one of our best players in the playoffs. To Flip haters: Sorry guys but he's here to stay.

Rafalski, Stuart, Draper, Maltby, Holmstrom and Filppula
Aussie_Wing replied to FunkedUp's topic in General
This thread, started with good intentions, goes to show the plain stupidity of some ppsters on this site. Flip, at 25, has just finished 3rd in points and tied for the team lead in assists and according to some he's still so easily replaced. Give me a freaking break, I'm tired of hearing it. -
Thanks Mac for all your hard work. 26th? Probably an improvement on last years. I suck when this game enters "playoff mode".
-
mlive This is concerning, especially for all anti re-signing Hossa people...

Holland: Defense is set, waiting for cap figure
Aussie_Wing replied to Aussie_Wing's topic in General
I certainly agree. I just hope he can play like he did during the playoffs all season long. He was a man on a mission out there, taking hits, even dishing out hits, all to keep the puck in and keep creating scoring chances. And it'll be good to have Lilja back, he was quietly having a very solid season before he was injured. Having him back will be like a new addition. -
Agreed, thread title pretty much sucks.

Thankyou to Matt for another fantastic season on LGW! All your hard work is really appreciated. And also thanks to all the other mods.
