The line of Hossa-Flip-Franzen was, in a word, amazing. Line changes
-
And Getzlaf with yet ANOTHER point. Sigh.
-
Filppula is playing like a man possessed tonight, how the heck does he only have 1 point? Deserves much more.
-
Yeah, too bad he has absolutely none. But in saying that, he did show some offensive ability in the AHL, I guess his role isn't to score but it would be nice if he chipped in with a goal every now and then.
-
Another freaking point for Getzlaf.
-
Zetterberg is at his best shorthanded.
-
That's the last thing we needed given we had all the momentum. I'm guessing Huds will serve the penalty!
-
The 2nd line is awesome, just awesome.
-
Filppula's having a strong game, good stuff.
-
Yes I LOVE these top two lines!
-
Yeah, we're awesome.

1-1 at the end of 1. C'mon lads, let's at least win one! Now tell me, how does Kindl score a goal without even being on the ice? According to the AHL website he scored a SHG and yet he doesn't appear in the +/-.
-
Not a bad assessment, but his 2nd year in the OHL was more than soso.
-
I love Kindl, he's my favourite prospect (although Abdelkader is rapidly catching) but it's true, he is miles off playing in the NHL let alone in the playoffs. I mean just this of his performance yesterday... The kids development sure has been painfully slow.

Wings Recall Abdelkader, Howard, Kindl, Leino, and Downey
Aussie_Wing replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
It's pretty sad that our first round draftee from 4 or so years back has been called up as a Blake Ace, we have holes in our defence and yet he's no chance of playing because he's still so raw. -
Poor Mattias, started the season so well but injury ruined him. He was expected to miss 4-5 weeks with a shoulder injury, only missed 2. At the time he was praised, he had 2 assists in his first game back but he struggled to have any impact at all thereafter. I hope he's not too downbeat about all that's happened and that he wasn't called up to the Wings. Hope he knows he's still got a future here. In more positive news, good to see Kindl get another shot up here. Obviously won't play (well, couldn't be worse than Chelios) but it'll be a good experience. He started the season so well but got a whole lot worse as it went on. And Abdelkader, the kid is a GEM! I'd like to see him skate instead of Maltby.

At least my man scored, Jakub! But it sounds as though he was horrific again...
-
Aaaand things are turning ugly, down 3-1. Give Larsson a go, couldn't make the team do any worse.
-
How the heck can it not be allowed to be reviewed? This really is a corrupt league, wow.
-
LOL, 33 shots to 9 in the last 2 periods and we're going to lose. How the heck does that work? Seems it's like this all the time.
-
Outstanding PK, we had more chances than they did.
-
We are going to get shutout.
-
Seriously? Why do you even claim to be a Wings fan?

GAME 1: Grand Rapids Griffins @ Manitoba Moose 7:30 pm CDT @ The North Division Finals get underway tonight as the travelling Griffins take on Manitoba. The Griffins will hope to continue their perfect 3-0 road playoff record and get off to a quick start in the series. The Moose finished with the best record in the American Hockey League this season so this will prove to be a very tough test for a young Griffins team. In the first round of the playoffs the Griffins got incredible scoring from their first line of Leino - Abdelkader - Haydar as the trio combined for 31 points. Secondary scoring will be needed if they are to win this series, and that includes Ritola who went pointless in the last 5 games of the series and Pare who was goaless. Emmerton and Mursak only chipped in a single point in 8 games so the rookies will need to be at the top of their games. There will be an interesting showdown in net between Jimmy Howard and the much hyped Cory Schneider. In the first round Howard posted numbers of 2.49 GAA and 0.891 S% while Schneider was 1.98 GAA and 0.925 S%. Once again the Griffins, and Red Wings, will be looking for Howard to come up big and steal the series. Team Comparison: 4-2 Win-Loss: 4-2 22 Goals For: 21 15 Goals Against: 12 86 PIM: 82 Playoff Leaders: Leino (13), Haydar (10) Points: Krog (8), Desbiens (7) Abdelkader (6), Haydar (4) Goals: Jaffray (5), Desbiens (3) Leino (10), Haydar (6) Assists: krog (6), Cullen (5) Abdelkader (15), Downey (13) PIM: PC Labrie (31), Desbiens (10) Leino, Haydar (5) Plus/Minus: Cullen (5), 3 tied (4) Projected line-up: Leino - Abdelkader - Haydar Tardif - Gagnon - Downey Ritola - Andersson - McCarty Emmerton - Pare - Mursak Kolosov - Jozsa Kindl - Galvin Lashoff - Stafford Howard Larsson

North Division Finals Game 1: Grand Rapids @ Manitoba
Aussie_Wing replied to Aussie_Wing's topic in General
We averaged 7,448 fans per game, 3rd in the league. Playoff numbers are obviously down as most have been on weeknights.
