    2/8 GDT: at Marlies 10, Griffins 5

Grand Rapids Griffins (31-10-6-4) @ Toronto Marlies (23-19-2-5) @ The Grand Rapids Griffins hit the road to take on the Toronto Marlies. The Griffins saw their 9 game point streak come to an end last night as they were thumped 4-1 by Lake Erie. Jimmy Howard got the start last night and didn't recieve too much assistance from the defenceman as costly giveaways and overall poor play was the killer. Daniel Larsson will start tonight as the Griffins hope to kick start another winning streak. The Griffins continue to struggle to get anywhere near fielding a full srength line-up with Ritola and Ericsson currnely injured and Helm and Leino up with the Wings. Ritola and Ericsson have both sat out the past 3 games and their status for tonight is unknown. Darren Haydar is on a 3 game poing streak (2-3-5) and he registered his 500th career AHL point last night with a goal. Possible line-up: Oulahen - Abdelkader - Haydar Lemieux - Pare - McGrath Ritola - Tardif - Mursak Emmerton - Gagnon - Downey Kindl - Galvin Kolosov - Stafford Jozsa - Pyett Larsson Howard Team Leaders: Goals: Haydar (18) Ritola, Pare (15) Assists: Leino, Haydar (26) Points: Haydar (44) Leino (37) Penalty Minutes: Downey (79), Abdelkader (61) Plus/Minus: Pare (15), McGrath (13) Notes: • The points have dried up for Jakub Kindl as he has only managed 1 assist from the past 7 games. • Cory Emmerton has registered 3 poins from the past 2 games. 2/8 GDT: at Marlies 10, Griffins 5

Well there's some good news. What the heck happened out there? I know you're without Helm, Leino, Kolosov, Ritola and Ericcson but 10 goals? Howard and Larsson give up 5 each, Larsson's stats ruined again after 1 awful period. 10 GOALS? I'm struggling to get my head around that. I guess there goes our leagues best penalty killing unit, with 5 goals against. Justin Abdelkader G+A and +1, that's a positive. Kindl only -1 which is pretty good too.

    2/6 GDT: Griffins 6, Wolves 3 @ GR

Chicago Wolves (25-22-2-1) @ Grand Rapids Griffins (30-9-6-4) @ The Chicago Wolves are in town to take on the Grand Rapids Griffins. Chicago carry a two game winning streak to the Van Andel Arena while the Griffins have gained 14 of a possible 16 points from their past 8 games. They are just 1 point shy of Manitoba who occupy first place in the Division but the Griffins have two games in hand. The Griffins have been hit by injuries and call-ups to the Wings in recent times and they were forced to sign Mike Walsh to a PTO. Ritola and Tardif were both absent from the previous clash with Quad City however both are rated a strong chance to return tonight. Assuming they continue with the goalie rotation Daniel Larsson should get the start tonight and he will be hoping to rebound from a weak showing by his standards in his last start. Possible line-up: Oulahen - Abdelkader - Haydar Lemieux - Pare - McGrath Ritola - Tardif - Mursak Emmerton - Gagnon - Downey Kindl - Galvin Kolosov - Stafford Jozsa - Pyett Larsson Howard Team Leaders: Goals: Haydar (17) Ritola, Pare (15) Assists: Leino (26), Haydar, Kindl (23) Points: Haydar (40) Leino (37) Penalty Minutes: Downey (75), Abdelkader (59) Plus/Minus: Pare (17), McGrath, Oulahen (12) Notes: • Despite the Griffins potent offence not one player is rated inside the leagues top 20 scorers. • From the past 2 games Evan McGrath has 5 points while linemate Francis Lemieux has 4 goals. Mike Green

If he's so bad defensively, why is he almost +20? I'm not saying you're lying and I've certainly heard a similar thing on many occasions, but why does he have such an impressive +/-? I guess it's to do with the fact he's always playing when AO is out there...

    Sign Leino up Holland

I hate NTC's. If a team wants you gone, what good is your NTC anyway? Lidstrom (7.45) - Stuart (3.75) Kronwall (3.25) - Lilja (1.25) Ericsson (.9) - Lebda (.85) Not to mention we've got Kindl, Smith, Nicastro, Pyett, Kolosov all developing.

    2/6 GDT: Griffins 6, Wolves 3 @ GR

Yeah what the heck happened? Very depleted team once again and given they had gone 7-1-1 in the past 9 games a loss was bound to come but what is it with Lake Erie? 22 shots against in the 2nd period? That's pretty poor. We need Ritola back. And playing without Helm and Leino doesn't help. I saw a post elsewhere that said Stafford and Galvin were really poor tonight? I hope Kindl wasn't as bad...

Sadly the more I think about it the more I agree. Lets look at the facts, who will warrant more money, Hossa or Franzen? Hossa by a fair way. Hossa will roughly command about $7 mil whereas Franzen is probably around $4-5 mil. Personally I think $5 mil would be an overpayment because he seems to keep suffering injuries and he should be looking to accept about $4 mil. Being a RFA lets say Hudler signs a one year, possible two year deal at $2 million. He definitely deserves more and far more than Flip is getting, but his big pay day will come a little later. What I’m getting at is that there’s no way we re-sign Hossa + Hudler and keep Flip. Franzen + Hudler and Flip is a slight possibility but that would probably require us to trade one or more of Kronwall/Stuart/Draper. One of Hossa and Franzen are gone, absolutely 100% factual. I just don’t see Holland trading Flip after signing him for 5 years a year before; I just don’t see it happening. I'm not worried about losing Hudler, I'm confident he'll stay. Hossa might be too expensive too keep and re-signing him might mean losing too many other assets. Realistically the best we can probably hope for is to keep Franzen and Hudler but big decisions loom.

Are you deluded? So Leino, aka the real deal, will sign for 5 years at 875,000 each? Again, you're deluded.

No better example than tonight. Griffins have exploded with 3 2nd period goals to lead 4-2. Mursak with his 1st and Mike Walsh his 1st. We have so much depth.

Jan Mursak!! Yes, way to go Jan! He gets his first pro goal! Ritola is still out unfortunately.

    Francis Pare

The kid is putting up amazing numbers for his rookie season. 15 goals (2nd), 30 points (6th) +/- 17 (1st). He's just 21 years of age. Surely we'll sign him?

17 goals and 34 points in 36 games. Wow, what a gun!
