Yeah welcome to my world. Stupid vision! Laser eye surgery looks appealing though.

Thanks for posting! Well done to Abdelkader on what has been a terrific start to his pro career. As I’ve said elsewhere, his development to this point has been absolutely flawless and he’s well on his way to becoming a solid 3rd line forward for many years. And who knows, with his Holmstrom like abilities on the PP he could become a PP specialist too.

2008-2009 NBA Season Thread (Pistons trade for Allen Iverson)
Aussie_Wing replied to timothy1997's topic in Other Sports
Wow when I saw this my jaw literally dropped. I'm still in shock. First of all I cannot stand Iverson. Honestly he would have to be one of my most hated players in the league. But it seems he's wanted to be in Detroit a few times now so he'll be hungry and there is NO doubt we needed a star player. How many disappointing playoff exits can you have in a row before Dumars realises we needed star power? Billups was once my favourite player and while I still like him, I'm not really fussed about letting him go. After this year he's still got 2 years left on his deal so it was a good move to trade him and his contract. The man reasons they did this deal: 1. Iverson is a pretty darn good player, an insane scorer and for once we'll have a player the opposition legitimately fear. 2. Iverson's contract expires at years end, so they basically moved Billups and McDyess to free up $12million or so. At seasons end they either re-sign Iverson for a significantly smaller amount or go after another star player. 3. More time for Stuckey to develop. Although hopefully AI doesn't get in his way now, but even if he does, it's only for 1 season whereas Billups would've been in his way for 2 more after this year. I love McDyess' heart, he's a warrior, but honestly I've been wanting him gone for ages now. Amir Johnson is the future! Overall I'm actually quite satisfied at this trade, and that's saying something because in the process we picked up one of my most hated players. -
I don't get it, how come Red Wings fans aren't fans of all the Detroit sport teams? Is there anyone here who is? And I know nothing about the NFL but I struggle to believe there is a team bad enough to go winless during a season. They'll get a win somewhere and it'll be a day to remember.

I think we could all use a little help to keep up with Dano, he's off to an amazing start! I did well in Week 1 but it's all been downhill since then.
-
It is getting beyond a joke now. Nothing Hudler does is good enough for Babcock. It's quite sad really.

2nd penalty Filppula has drawn, well done Flip.
-
Draper to score an empty net goal to seal the game.
-
We're in strife, getting slaughtered right now. Ozzie saving our bacon.
-
Flip's +/- taking a beating because the PP had just expired.
-
Meech, please no more of that.
-
Liking all these lines, Hudler and Cleary working well together.

I know this won't mean anything to you (or anyone else) but it's quite scary how similar the 'new' NHL is to the 'new' AFL (Australian Football League). They're trying to make the game quicker, more attacking down here and making all these new rules, now defenders can't really do anything without being penalised. Sounds so much like the way the NHL is these days.
-
Zetterberg all 3 stars tonight, what a dominating performance.
-
Boy what a shift by the 2nd line, we were all over them! Great pressure!
-
I must say I'm surprised at these guys, they're actually quite good. Not really biased at all, giving the Wings lots of praise.
-
Kopecky!

I used to (for years) just click on the Listen Live link, was a piece of cake. Now I can't see that option so I have to go to the WXYT website. Seems as though they're streaming an NFL game tonight so I have to listen to the Canucks feed.

I'm forced to listen to the Canucks feed... Link

Oh I don't disagree. Babcock seems to really have it in for Hudler and it's a real shame. He basically plays 10 minutes every second game and it seems if the game is tight he won't even play towards the end of regulation. I don't think Babs has any trust in him and I although I would hate to see it happen, I just get the feeling Hudler is gone at seasons end. Hudler clearly loves playing here and his passion is refreshing. The fact that he was demoted off Zetterberg’s line after 2 games sums up how much Babs likes Hudler. Not much at all. Ever since he’s been the coach of the Wings he’s easily been the hardest on Hudler.
-
Dick Axelsson is one heck of a prospect, he just seems to be able to put up the points with ease. If the commitment is there, he'll be a top 6 forward in Detroit one day.

Grand Rapids Griffins (4-0-2) @ Milwaukee Admirals (2-4-1) @ The Griffins hit the road to take on the struggling Milwaukee Admirals. The Griffins haven’t lost in regulation in their opening six matches and are coming off a SO loss to the Crunch. Milwaukee have recently acquired bruising 6’6 forward Hugh Jessiman as a result of the Ranger trading the prospect to the Predators. Jessiman was a first round selection in the 2003 NHL Draft but has failed to live up to the expectations. This is the beginning of what he hopes is a fresh start. Expected in net for the Admirals is former Griffin Drew MacIntyre. They seemingly have a very tall team with only 3 players on their roster shy of 6 foot and their size could pose a test for a young Griffins outfit. Probable line-up: Leino - Helm - Haydar Mursak - Pare - Abdelkader Ritola - Emmerton - Wilson Gagnon - Oulahen – Downey Ericsson - Jozsa Kindl - Galvin Stafford – Kolosov Howard Larsson Team Leaders: Goals: Abdelkader (6) Assists: Leino (5) Points: Leino (9) Penalty Minutes: Abdelkader, Wilson (15) Notes: • After his best outing of the season Jimmy Howard is expected to get the start again. • Ryan Oulahen is playing some fine hockey as he attempts to win a contract with Detroit at seasons end.
