This is an awesome, awesome game. How good is the 2nd line? (minus Cleary)
-
Filppula is a freaking GUN.
-
Oh that's it, back to bed for 10 minutes, this sucks.
-
Freaking hate it how it's a 1pm game and yet it won't start until like 1:20. WHY NOT SAY THAT THEN?!? And yes, waking up at 4:30 has left me annoyed that it's running so late.
-
Wow, intersting.
-
Tell me about it, he was in so much pain.

Man, is anyone else as pumped as I am for this game? Always special playing a fellow Original 6 team, especially Boston given they're the defending champs. Will be an intense game; we need Dats to keep up his recent good form and for Zetterberg to really have a strong game. The game starts at 4:30am here, but I will be up! Go Wings! And how good was the pass by Eaves?

One of the best contracts on this team, and I might be biased, but the best FA signing last summer in terms of fairness of cap hit. Great get by Kenny.

What can we realistically expect from this serial ground of underperformers? It seems like every year we start off with big hopes and about halfway through the season we realise the team is useless and has no shot of achieving anything. Every year our FA signings fail to live up to the hype, and the next year we’re searching for more. We’ve signed Chris Conner and Garnet Exelby, both of which have NHL experience and should add stability and professionalism to our young squad. I think we still lack offensive firepower, and the loss of leading point scorer Ilari Filppula will hurt. If Johnson and or Minard don’t return, which I believe will be the case; we have some glaring holes up front. On the back end we are stacked, with Fournier turning pro but unlikely to step straight in given his age and his shoulder issues. It seems every year our defence looks good on paper but never delivers, not even close. Lashoff needs to step up, Ehrhardt developed greatly last season and hopefully builds on that. Pyett has been brought back and really needs to be a 40 point guy and PP quarterback along with Smith. Speaking of which, he will be the leader on defence and will be asked to play 25 minutes a night. Up front I think Willie Coetzee needs more ice-time to fulfil his vast potential, and there are still question marks over whether Parks and Nestrasil will be in GR, possibly even Aubry, but from what I gather he will return to juniors. With the likely line-up (at this stage) below, can we return to the playoffs? A lot will depend on the production of rookies Nyquist and Ferraro; should they perform there will be less pressure on guys like Tatar and Pare, who IMO, are more complimentary types, not out and out scorers. Tatar – FA signing – Conner Pare – Andersson – Nyquist Coetzee – Ferraro – Callahan Parkes - Raedeke – Nestrasil Smith – Janik Lashoff – Ehrhardt Amadio - Exelby (Pyett, Piche) (Fournier in Toledo) MacDonald Pearce (McCollum in Toledo)

Wings reassign Brendan Smith to Grand Rapids, recall Brunnstrom
Aussie_Wing replied to Aussie_Wing's topic in General
Yep, Mursak is a few weeks away from returning to GR for his coniditioning stint. -
Because everyone is obsessed with draft position!
-
He must have an absolute joke of a work ethic if so many teams pass on him. I liked him, I even wanted the Wings to have a crack during the off-season when he was a free agent, but not now. SEL for him you'd imagine.
-
It's weird because in pre-season Babcock was saying how Eaves is a great locker room guy, a leader in the gym ect. And now he's struggling to even get in the line-up.
-
In terms of speed: 1. Helm 2. Mursak 3. Filppula
-
I'm glad he's back, for the good of the game, but we're supposed to like him?
-
Quick, MAF made a save, lets look at Crosby on the bench!!!!
-
Ummmmm....any ideas? Maybe steal Harry Potter's invisibility cloak to have a few extra guys out there? (Not Zetterberg or Cleary though) Anything else??
-
Single figures!! Ouch! But thankfully those around me didn't fare much better! Thanks DB!
-
Great photo! Nice to see the boys so happy!
-
Thanks for posting that. It has seemed like he's lost virtually every one. He's struggled a lot on thge draw lately, and especially on the PP.
-
Lidstrom's struggled tonight.
-
2 more goals for Jurco tonight. 7 game point streak. 8 goals from the past 7 games.
-
How good are Kronwall and Smith together? The 2nd line is dominating!
