Hossa Sweepstakes down to four teams?

And I get the feeling you would be right.

Hossa Sweepstakes down to four teams?

Has there actually been any confirmation that Flip is actually on the trade table? A month or two ago it was as though he was virtually untouchable, has there been anything (credible) to suggest that things have actually changed? To me it sounds as though someone suggested his name and everyone has run with it thinking it could be a plausible deal. Robert Lang?

I'd love to see Hossa playing well, but if it means trading Flip, sorry no deal. Put it this way, Fleischmann's been playing well lately.

Hossa Sweepstakes down to four teams?

So I guess that's how it is these days. Draft a guy, develop him, have him play (and perform) in the NHL for a season or two, then dump him... Greeeeat!

Hossa Sweepstakes down to four teams?

Because when was the last time we traded away a piece of our future at the deadline? It's always fringe players, picks or prospects.

So another classic deadline deal would be done. Selling off your future for one guy, simply marvellous. I don't know why we're even discussing this. I bet behind closed doors they aren't even bringing up Filppula at all in trade talks.

Look the only thing that you've said that I disagree with is Flip. He's too highly rated to be traded and we'll send Kindl, Quincey, Emmerton and co packing before him. You don't send a 23 year old who's on track to score 20 goals, even if it is for Hossa. Yes Hossa would probably stay for at least 2-3 years, but nothing is guaranteed. Too much risk associated with trading a guy that's a young 2nd line NHL'er. Trading away prospects/picks would be a better option and I'm sure if we do pull the trigger that would be our approach.

Who says they're the front runners to get him? And who knows how much they'd have to give up to get him.

    Paranoia?

Hossa Sweepstakes down to four teams?

So you're happy for a club to trade away young NHL players and prospects, only to have the person you traded for to walk straight back to the club you just traded away your future to? Not sure about you but that's just flat out dodgy. Just like Weight and Tkachuk in recent years.

Hossa Sweepstakes down to four teams?

No wonder why there is no loyalty from players, they get none from the managers. Seriously, the trade deadline is a joke. When I heard on Versus yesterday that Sundin should waive his NTC to get Toronto some assets, then when the playoffs are over head straight back to Toronto is sickening IMO. The trade deadline is bad news.

Hossa Sweepstakes down to four teams?

Fair enough, but the bottom line is that he won't be traded. You don't trade 10 year players for rentals. We won't re-sign Hossa as we simply won't have enough cap room. Look at all the deadline deals made last season, all fell flat on their face. Deadline deals are the most overrated things in sport.

So you don't think Babs has a say in proceedings?

How many times does it need to be said, Filppula is not going to be traded. Babcock rates him VERY highly and always mentions how he'll have a long and successful career in Detroit. Any trade involving the Wings will not include Flip.

Simon Gagne out for remainder of the season

    Shame, I really like Gagne.

Hasek and Rafalski on IR - Ericsson & Hartigan Called Up

Really excited to see Ericsson. After a slow start for the Griffins he's having a great season, was even named an All-Star. As for Hartigan, he's better than Ellis so it's a good move.

Theodore got the 3rd star? He made some very nice saves, but seriously... Wings completely destroyed Colorado, had so many dominating performances, and their goalie gets a star? Rubbish.

How freaking good has the defence been? Meech has made the odd mistake but otherwise he's been quite impressive. He's looked at ease on the PP which is a surprise. Chelios has played amazing, Lilja has even made a few hits, Lebda has played faultless and Quincey I rate very highly. And Kopecky's playing a top notch game tonight, despite the little ice time. He's really using his big frame out there. Hope Flip's alright.

This is brilliant, I'm absolutely LOVING this! Datsyuk is a champion, Zetterberg already with 2 goals, and Meech with a very smart play.
