Really impressive! I just don't like their new scoresheets.

That was a terrible error but as you said otherwise he played a great game. Some thoughts from the game: Zetterberg was amazing and looked threatening whenever he was on the ice, and his efforts on the defensive end were brilliant. In minimal ice-time Drake played a solid game and it was great seeing him in a fight and equally impressive was his also really like Kopecky and his willingness to throw his body around. Hudler’s shootout goal was great but how the heck was he the 2nd star? I thought he was relatively quiet so that came as a shock to me. Filppula made a lot happen on the offensive end and he seems to always win the 1-on-1 battles. He’s in for a good season. I’ve been a big critic but Kronwall played a great game tonight and I loved his hit on the blue line. Hasek had little to do but he was fantastic in net. Great saves in the SO too. I shouldn’t complain as I only see half a dozen games a season and this was one, but I agree, the camera angle for the shootout was pretty poor.

Well I list all the games over Friday-Sunday and you predict the winner for each game. If tomorrow's Wings game was played on Friday I would post: Anaheim @ Detroit. Just bold (or simply type) the team you think will win such as... Anaheim @ Detroit When I post the thread in a day or two you'll soon catch on.

Fair enough! I'd be more than happy to do it again! I'll post Week 1 games probably this time tomorrow which should give people plenty of time to get their picks in.

Yeh I'd like to play it again. Maybe every second week this season, or every week, I'm not fussed.

Was just about to make a thread on this. I HATE the new NHL Scoresheets, what was wrong with how they were? A change for the sake of change; and it's certainly far from an improvement.

I think Grigs just won himself a roster spot.

What was with the ice-time tonight? I'm assuming Hartigan, McGrath and Downey played on the 4th line, but why did they play so few minutes? They all played less than 3 minutes, so why did they even bother playing them? I know it's only pre-season so I shouldn't be complaining but it's just odd. And I guess Zetterberg played 30+ because he needed a good work out?

He was never going to be at his best last season. He probably wouldn't have played at all it the playoffs weren't on the agenda. Still very, very disappointed he left.

Fair enough. Meech cannot be sent down to Grand Rapids without the possibility of another club signing him, is that correct? So he’s either the 7th defenseman or he’ll be claimed by another team. You would assume that unless they’re extremely impressed with Ericsson and feel as though he brings a lot more to the table than Meech, he’ll be sent down to GR. I’d like to see Kindl, Ericsson and Quincey all play at GR with a ton of ice-time. And considering every year there’s always a mass of injuries, I’m sure Ericsson will get a shot at some stage during the season.

Interesting. So you rate Ericsson higher than Kindl? I liked it. BTW, what happened to Darren Helm? I know he was injured but when was he assigned to GR? There's barely been a word said about him.

Fleischmann will come back to hurt us. Great prospect.

Yeh I know what you mean but at the time of the trade everyone was more than satisfied with what we got and what we gave up. Matthias is a good prospect but most scouting reports have him slated as a future 3rd liner, so trading for Bertuzzi who they thought would help us go all the way and who they hoped would stay, I think it was a decent enough trade. Of course I wish we still had Matthias, but not too many regrets.

Well I'm getting concerned over Grigorenko. Our once sure-fire prospect looks a step below pre-season NHL games...

No one seems to be mentioning Filppula, how was he last night?

Lids played 27:02. It's the pre season, does he really need to play so much? Wouldn't we be better served giving some more minutes to a younger defenseman? Or is it all about conditioning?

Any idea why Kindl didn't play, again?
