How much does Backlund sound like Holmstrom?

So guys, who's left? Any BIG guys with offensive potential? What's the bet we take an undersized winger? Or another D-man?

There’s no doubt in my mind Filppula will be a fan favourite in Detroit for many years. He’s already my favourite.

I can't believe so many people want Hudler traded.

There was a stretch in late December, early January (5 games) where Delfino averaged 12 points (at 51%), 6 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in 22 mins per game. Given time= Delfino delivered exactly what you want from a bench player. And then in the last 4 games of the regular season, when he got decent minutes (25/game), he averaged 11 points (48%), 5.25 rebounds and 2.25 assists per game. Whenever he got time, he DELIVERED. And yet, when his minutes dropped off, so did his production. Wow, who would've thought? I can't believe we've traded someone who gave us exactly what we needed when we gave him a chance.

When he was given PT he would often show his potential. He's only 24 and with an ageing side I can't believe we would get rid of someone and for so little in return. What a joke of a trade. As I said, when Delfino actually received PT he showed his class. An ever improving defender, great rebounder for his height (better than Prince), and a great slasher. He will be a player, make no mistake about it. He never got a real chance. Whenever he would play a good game it would never matter, he would be benched the very next outing. Such a WASTE of talent. I hope he thrives in Torono, and I'm sure he will.

Oh man, I think I'm just about ready to give up on this team. The way we let go of young talent is disgraceful. In that stretch where Delfino actually recieved playing time he looked like a very solid NBA player. Of course they guy won't do anything when he plays 1 or 2 minutes of junk time. Stuff this, one very unhappy fan.

We haven’t had close to a decent bench since our Championship year. Not only can’t we rely on it to chip in with a few points, but our starters are forced to play far too many minutes because of it.

The second Grand Slam of the year has just got underway. After defeating Rafael Nadal in Hamburg last week, World No.1 Roger Federer will be confident that he can claim the last major trophy missing from an illustrious career. However despite the media giving him a major chance to win, I don’t see it happening. The clay courts in Paris are the slowest around whereas it’s the complete opposite in Hamburg. I believe Nadal will claim his third French Open crown in succession. On the women’s side, Ana Ivanovic is up to a career high of No.7 after winning her second Tier I title a few weeks back. She has a great draw and I expect her to go very deep, that is of course if she brings her ‘A’ game. When on she can beat anyone, but when off she’s capable of losing to anyone. However she’s my dark horse to win. And despite having an extremely rocky year, Henin-Hardenne would be the favourite yet again.

I’m pretty sure they would've reveled that he had a broken hand if it was indeed the case. Obviously it wasn’t.

OK the +/- stat may be overrated but his defensive shortcomings are definitely played up far too much.

Now you’re officially clutching at straws. Why bother saying put Hudler on a team like Phoenix or Washington as it's just pointless.

Seriously, that is the most overrated argument on this site. He was +16 for the season, how then can you possibly question his defensive awareness? 15 goals and +16; not a bad combination if you ask me.

I failed to highlight it because it’s obviously not the be all and end all considering the seasons he just had. Yes he’s small and his skating is far from ideal, but he puts the puck in the net, that’s all you can ask for really. He's played 6 playoff games in his career, and averaged like 9 minutes per game. How many goals would you have expected him to score? And besides, 2 points in 6 games isn’t a bad return.

In his first REAL oppertunity, he scored 15 goals for the season in about 10 minutes per game. Without doubt NHL material.
