Thanks for the links. 'Filppula has worked hard to improve his strength and  if he stays in Finland next season  could put up some huge numbers in 2005-06'. So beacuse of the new CBA, we had to sign him or lose him? Therefore he's playing in GR. Is that correct?
-
All of our youths. And they are???
-
I know we know about him, but Filppula sure has been impressive. I think we have a special talent on our hands...
-
Who says he has to 'ride the pine'? With everyone saying that Holmstrom should be a 1st or 2nd line winger this season, why shouldn't Grigorenko be? 15 minutes a night couldn't hinder his development to the extent where he wont turn into a 'decent NHL player'.
-
If not Grigorenko, at least Matt Ellis then. He's 6'1 and well built, and could be handy on the 4th line.
-
At least they'll enjoy long-term success starting in a few years, something we'll only be dreaming about if we continue down this ridiculous path.
-
Simple, Thomas is a LW, Grigorenko is a LW. Solution, play Grigs instead of a 42 year old who registered 1 assist during the 2003/04 playoffs. I know Grigorenko might not be ready, but he is a better option than Thomas!!!
-
Disagree. Lets start preparing for the future, why is this lost on everyone?
-
How about Grigorenko, he's a young winger. He may not quite be ready, but I'd certainly rather him over here developing instead of a 42 year-old!
-
IF THIS IS TRUE, I WILL, I WILL... I don't know what I'll do, but I wont be happy to say the least After the dozens of posts I've made regarding the fact that we should not persue old has-beens and focus on youth, we may sign Thomas. It doesn't make sense. I would rather Grigorenko over here, at least he's YOUNG!!!

Semi Finals FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 9 Sydney Swans 7.14 (56) defeated Geelong 7.11 (53) at S.C.G. SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 10 Adelaide vs Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium Anyone who doesn't like AFL should watch the last 30 minutes of the Sydney-Geelong game. It was the best action I have ever seen in my life. Sydney were down by 20 points in the last quarter, which was huge considering they had only put up 30 points midway through the final quarter. Swans forward Nick Davis scored 4 goals in the final term to send them into the Preliminary Finals. Tomorrow night it's Adelaide vs Port Adelaide (equivalent to Detroit vs Colorado in the SC Finals). My team (Adelaide) are up agaisnt their fierce cross-town rivals.

That's all I needed to know. Sign him NOW!

Agassi won 8-6 in the 5th set tiebreak. Great match, not the result I was after though. Are you serious, they cut off the tennis, with 2 Americans playing, to show some re-runs?
-
To be honest, Fischer has been disappointing. We get draft pick 19, and we use it on another Fischer? Surely with such a high pick we could have found someone better? I'm not too satisfied at this stage.

Once again I’m disappointed at the lack of input into this discussion. Being a huge tennis I make a new thread for every Grand Slam. However it seems like the interest in tennis decreases all the time. This has been a pretty good US Open, with some great matches such as Blake/Nadal, Hewitt/Dent, Agassi/Malisse and the list goes on. Oh well, at least I’m enjoying it.
-
Muse, I couldn't agree more. The Hewitt/Dent match was a beauty. Stayed up until about 3:30am, and I'm glad the result went his way. The 5th set was sensational, great tennis played by both players. I'm not too happy that Hewitt is going to meet Federer in the Semi's, assuming he advances that far of course. Why can't the best two players battle it out in the Final?!?
-
Yeh it was a great match, two terrific tennis players showing their talents. Nadal gave everything but it simply wasn't enough. Blake overpowered him, but the one thing that impressed and suprised me was his composure under pressure. A sensational match. Tonight is Hewitt vs Dent, can hardly wait!
-
Well what a beauty!!! In an extraordinary upset, James Blake defeated Rafael Nadal 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. I haver seen anyone take it up to Nadal as Blake did, he simply played the match of his life! Well done James Blake, you are a champion!

Yeh I changed my mind Seriously though the Spurs are loaded. They have improved their roster quite considerably in the off season, and will be extremely hard to beat. I also found this interesting: Darko Milicic is playing games in Europe, and he is looking a bit lost on the court. The Pistons center is playing for his Serbia and Montenegro national team, which beat visiting Croatia on Thursday night in a warm-up for the European championships. Damir Jovanovic, a writer for jadransport.org, described Milicic's performance: Milicic "made a good appearance, although he seemed a bit uncertain what to do with the ball when he got it. (His face was like, 'Wow, I'm holding it.') "At first, he quickly got into the game and made a superb block, couple of rebounds and scored three points. So there's some hope for this talented lad, who if given more time in his NBA club could make a nice career." Milicic, the No. 2 pick in the 2003 draft, is expected to compete for significant time in the Pistons' rotation this season.

Congratulations, San Antonio Spurs 2005/06 NBA Champions

Muse, Hewitt destrotyed Costa in his first round match, 6-1, 6-2, 6-1. However, he is expected to meet Federer in the Semi Finals. Why is this always the way?!? Clearly the top two players in the world, yet they always meet in the Semi's! Not happy, Ana Ivanovic was beaten in three sets, my interest levels in the US Open have dropped significantly.
-
Yeh my predictions are out the window! Predicted him to reach the final. Lleyton Hewitt takes the court in a few hours, looking forward to this. Also up today is Ana Ivanovic. Should be a good day of tennis.

Still a very, very good player though.
