Ryan Sproul!! This kid is going to have a huge season in the OHL. Gustav continues his great play, and he and Andersson seem to have clicked. Hopefully they stay together in GR.
-
Quite frankly I think Kindl, assuming he gets a fair deal, will look like the better defenceman at the end of the season.

Everyone has rejoined the team for skating...except one player...

I'll believe Babs...just as long as he's not been working out with Andrei Kostitsyn. -

White will be a good fit here, I expect him to become a very solid member of our blue-line. I think he'll get decent time on the PP and reach career high numbers.

Unbelievably bad contract. He will be a serviceable defenceman, not bad, but not great. How does that justify over 3 million a season? Amazing.

Great game by the boys, good to see Tvrdon scoring. He's got good size, and hopefully one day he develops into another Franzen, that's the sort of player he projects to be.

Ericsson-Kindl scares me more than just a bit...
-
He went back to Finland to play with Jokerit, on the same team as Pulkkinen.

I can't believe Andersson fought. ANDERSSON!! Good to see Nyquist with 2 assists.

Louis-Marc Aubry!

Agree, I mean look at all the numbers he’s posted throughout his career; he’s very, very overhyped. I really don’t see the ‘tons of potential’ that is always spoken of. Look, I’m more than happy to have him in our system, I’d like to have him play in GR, but I doubt he ever makes this team and if he does, I doubt he makes it to a scoring line role.

Hard to think about anything other than the horrible crash right now. But yeah, I love Brunnstrom's attitude.

I'm not going to lie, I'm in tears. This is tragic, an absolute tragedy. I've got no idea what to say.

In what universe is Marshall ahead of Mursak? And Ferraro in the top 10, after showing absolutely nothing since being drafted?

I'm bitterly disappointed that from now on whenever I see our truly magnificent logo, I will have to see an incredibly tacky 'presented by Amway' right below it. So, so disappointed.

I agree that he is the next Kronwall, except just a bigger version. Same great strengths as Kronners, but same flaws and inconsistency in the defensive game that will frustrate. Great, great prospect, has so much confidence which helps a lot.

James van Riemsdyk signs 6 year extension with Flyers
Aussie_Wing replied to toby91_ca's topic in General
This guy is going to be a force in this league, great work by the Flyers to get him locked up long term. In a few years I think we'll look at his contract very favourably. -
With the losses of Filppula and Tardif, we’ll obviously be lacking offence. It looks like Johnson and Minard will both return, if they perform like they did last season, we’ll miss the playoffs, if they perform like they did in the years before they hit GR, we’ll return to the playoffs. I always find it funny how our GR signings never play to the levels they did before they arrived. This goes back a while too. Haydar, Williams, Newbury, and now Minard and Johnson. I really wonder why that is, especially when they seem to perform after moving on. Our system, our coaches, what?? We have some excellent rookies; Tatar, Andersson and Pare should all take further steps forward, but as is always the case with this team, we seem to start well and then fall into a hole. I'm not convinced Fraser is the man for the job, but the Wings seem to like him. He's always having awful line combinations and his teams seem to go long stretches without scoring/winning. I think we should make the playoffs, but a lot will depend on the defence. If they're as woeful as they were last season we won't but if Lashoff improves and we have Janik for the whole season, we could go alright.

We’ve already got two great scoring lines, and an extremely fast and energetic 4th line. That 3rd line is big, strong and would be tough to score against. I really struggle to see how it would be a bad line, especially considering it’s our 3rd.
-
Filppula - Datsyuk - Holmstrom Franzen - Zetterberg - Hudler Cleary - Abdelkader - Bertuzzi Mursak - Helm - Eaves That's the best, most well rounded combination possible IMO.
-
Meh. He's done nothing but underachieve ever since signing with Dallas after all that hype. I'd like him for GR though, but highly doubt he'd be willing to go back to the minors again.
-
He's more of a winger than a centre. I'm actually surprised he put up 54 points last season, I didn't think he had that many! He's got some potential as maybe an NHL depth player when injuries hit, I think he could play minutes and not look out of place. He makes things happen out there and will be one of the Griffins leading scorers this season.
-
Lets not forget Jan Mursak was taken 182th overall, the fact that he's even about to make the NHL is a success story in itself. At the worst he'll be a very effective 4th liner, at best he's a borderline top 6 guy, so I'd say his drafting was a great move. As for Emmerton, he has been a disappointment. A rumoured 1st round pick, fell to us at 41, and hasn't really come on at all. He's probably got the hockey smarts to be a 4th line centre, but I'm not sure about his long term future on the Wings.
