2011 NHL Draft: Round 1 Discussion

Stoked that we've got 3 picks in the second round, that is awesome. Hopefully we can land some gems. What I am annoyed about is the fact San Jose have got Burns.

    Draft Talk

I highly doubt we use our first pick on a guy who's weakness is skating. Highly doubt it.

Lidstrom agrees to 1-year, $6.2m contract

Fair call. Look I'm happy he's back, and it would've been devestating had he retired, but I think it would've sent one heck of a message to the team and the league if Lidstrom had taken $5 mil and made a real statement.

    Wouldn't have thought so.

Lidstrom agrees to 1-year, $6.2m contract

Been a legend of the game, one of our greatest ever, but you won't convince me otherwise that he could've taken a better deal for the team.

Lidstrom agrees to 1-year, $6.2m contract

Ah I see, so he needs more money to get greater respect? Wow, it seems I really overestimated Lidstrom's will to win. $5.5 mil is playing for free? Good one buddy. There's certainly no reason to think he goes beyond the call of duty for his team either.

Lidstrom agrees to 1-year, $6.2m contract

Nah, I'm thinking more along the lines of he's 41, he's in his last year, lets take a slight discount (heck, $5.5 mil, what a slap in the face......) to give me the absolute BEST chance of having the perfect send off. It appears gaining that every last bit of money takes priority over building the best possible team.

Lidstrom agrees to 1-year, $6.2m contract

Oh right-o, I forgot that Seabrook was in his 20th odd NHL season and had earnt an absolute stack over his cateer.

Lidstrom agrees to 1-year, $6.2m contract

Again too steep. $6.2 mil, he must like losing in the Semi's.

2011 LGW Playoff Picks Game: Final Standings

Firstly, congrats to edicius!! Good job! I came second, woah!! I think this is the first time I've ever done well at the playoff picks, so that's nice to see! I did pretty well after the Quarter Finals, picked Boston in 6 so that was good. And lastly, huge thankyou to Mac! Thanks for doing this again, and keeping track of the scores and getting the results up so quick! Much appreciated!

    Disgraceful. Depressing stuff.

No, No, NO! Jagr interested in Detroit.

I'd rather go Zherdev. If he pans out, we could have a player with phenomenal talent for a decade. If it doesn't pan out, we've lost nothing.
