I AM PUMPED!! Completely agree. Look at Helm's stats with his second stint with Detroit, 16 games, 1 goal. -7. Mursal 17 games, 1 goal, -3. Both showed tremendous speed, grit, and created some chances. Helm's developing into a guy who can score a dozen goals, and put up maybe 35 points. I see Mursak with better hands, and I think it's not unrealistic to think he could be a 20-20 player in this league in a few years. You bet! Do we have the next gen grind line of Abdelkader-Helm-Mursak?
-
Who'd he go after?? And did the player on the receiving end play out the game?
-
As impressive as they've been, I don't see Tampa Bay getting out of the 1st round.

I was away for so long, and my email has exploded, so I've forgotten my log-in details! \ I want to watch Jan the Man.
-
I get the feeling Flip will have been out 3 weeks when he finally returns.
-
How about thinking of the future? I highly doubt trading for a 5th/6th defenceman is going to improve this team considerably. Given that any trade option is likely to be a rental, and is going to cost us a good prospect, seems totally ridiculous to me.

Modano feeling good, aiming for late-February return

Thoughts on this line-up? Scary enough for you! Holmstrom Datsyuk Zetterberg Hudler Filppula Franzen Bertuzzi Modano Cleary Eaves Helm - Draper Abdelkader and Miller 13th and 14 forwards?! -
Who is saying otherwise?
-
Flyers are scary. Good move by the Leafs, they need all the picks they can get.
-
Nicely done Swayze, huge score! I'm sucking a bit at the moment, 12 really isn't good enough. Cheers kook!
-
Cleary - Datsyuk - Hudler Franzen - Zetterberg - Bertuzzi Abdelkader - Fipppula - Mursak Eaves - Helm - Holmstrom Draper, Emmerton 14 forwards, same as what we started this season with.
-
I still can't see him willing to play in the AHL though. There's likely no room for him in Detroit next season with Mursak coming up and maybe Emmerton. I guess he could be competing for a spot against Cory. He's got tremendous upside so of course I'd like to see him get a shot, just as long as his attitude has changed.

Huds is an absolute clown.
-
Some people are incredible. He had a very, very solid stretch of about 15 games where his play seemingly got better every night, has struggled a bit over the past week, and this thread appears with stupid poll options. Unbelievable.
-
Agreed, it's pretty sad when you see how involved the crowd was in the game, and compare that to Wings games. It seems lilke every arena in the league generates more noise than ours does, the fans go wild over everything, and seem genuinely passionate.

Fisher, good on faceoffs, good intensity, very streaky offensively. Preds gave up a fair bit.
-
I saw Salak play a few times in the AHL last season, solid prospect IMO. I've got no idea who the other two guys who the Hawks gave up, obviously they threw in Hugh Jessiman too. What's that, team #4 or 5 for Hugh, the guy must surely be the biggest bust in NHL history. Good deal for the Hawks.
-
Lupul must seriously drive coaches nuts, can't stick around anywhere. Obvious talent, but surely there are some issues underneath...
-
While I'd like to think so, I doubt it. I was surprised when he was given a shot in Red Wings training camp as I thought they had moved on. Obviously they still liked his potential, but given he didn't last long in camp, there's obviously areas of his game they feel still need improvement. His stats this season are his best yet, so that's encouraging, but to me he really needed a huge season, as in 70+ points. I'm not sure if training camp was his last chance with the Wings, or perhaps he'll do a Torquato and sign with the Toledo Walleye next season in the hope of remaining around the Detroit scene. I liked his upside, good size, skater and untapped offensively potential, but I guess injuries slowed him down, and he wasn't ever able to really string any consistency together. Real shame.

I'm having a tough time figuring out exactly what Tatar projects as. To me he's far from a sniper, he gets in the right place at the right time with his outstanding hockey sense, but to me he doesn't seem like a true sniper. I see him as a 20-30 type player, very much in the Hudler mould, and I think he'll constantly put together point totals like Huds did in 2008/09.
-
You know what, I'm starting to get really pumped about this kid. He's had a frustrating season with a few injury setbacks but when he's played he's been terrific. His size is just fantastic, he's responsible defensively, and the fact that the Wings signed him well ahead of time speaks volumes as to how highly they rate him. Gaining strength will obviously be the key, and whether he can become more of a consistent offensive threat will determine whether he ever makes it beyond a 3rd/4th line role, but he's got some nice tools to work with. Turning into one of my favourite prospects.
-
For such an exciting prospect, you barely hear anything about him. I guess being in college means you're less likely to attract the spotlight, but after a slow start to the season he's really coming on now. He'll likely go back for a 4th and final year in college but I'd much prefer to get him to the AHL.
-
Yeah they were both awful tonight. Kindl had his worst game ever, turnovers galore, I honestly don't think I'm going overboard when I say he had at least 7 turnovers. Mursak is still up with the Wings, but I'm not sure if he's ready to play with his swollen toe. Hopefully he's right to go Thursday against Nashville.
