Nothing against the Ducks players or fans. But those new Anaheim Ducks are the ugliest jerseys in the NHL today. The Ducks make the "Banana Slug" jersey of Buffalo or the mustard-yellow third Predators uniform look like works of beauty. The soft, dove-like brown color is hideous. I liked the old Disney logo and the green + purple colors. Black, brown and red are atrocious color combinations. Ugh...how can a Ducks fan wear one of those jerseys?

Why shouldn't I dread this series vs. Anaheim?

You might see this in return. -

It doesn't get easier against Anaheim. I really think Anaheim will be a tougher matchup than San Jose because they are such a great defensive team and they have Giggy in the net. The Wings have to shutdown MacDonald, Getzlaf and Selanne. I like in the Wings in seven brutal games against the Ducks. GO WINGS GO! -
That's right. I under-counted by 2 wins. The Wings are 16-3 in elimination games since 1997. Me thinks the Sharks are in deep s***.
-
Sorry about that. Um...the record is pretty good since 1997. Usually when the Wings get 3 games in a series...they close the door for good. My numbers come to 14-3 when the Wings are knocking on eliminating their opponents. 14-3 is pretty damn good in my books.

Teams Marcus thinks will be scary next season

None of the above, dude. Not even close. -
Mixed record when the Wings face elimination themselves. I don't think the Wings faced elimination in one playoff round during the 1997 and 1998 playoffs: that's how dominate they were back then. 1999: 0-1 (Loss to Avs in 2nd round) 2000: 0-1 (Ditto) 2001: 0-1 (Big Choke Job against the LA Kings in first round) 2002: 1-0 (Beat the Avs in 7 in Conference Finals) 2003: 0-1 (Anaheim) 2005: 0-1 (Calgary) 2006: 0-1 (Edmonton) Wings are 1-6 when they are in a game elimination situation themselves.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Ottawa Senators=Bloodsport on Ice. Who needs Ultimate Fighting when you have the Sens and Sabres beating the s*** out of each other.
-
The Toronto Maple Leafs are to hockey as what the Chicago Cubs are to baseball. Maple Leaf fans...those poor bastards.
-
How about this for f***ed up logic? If the Wings get the first goal tonight...they will LOSE. No doubt. If the Sharks get ahead with the first goal or two...the Wings will close out the series! I am the point now if San Jose rips two goals on Hasek in the first period...I don't get upset at all because I know the Wings will come back and win. Let's hope SJ lights the lamp first!!!
-
Buffalo Sabres in five. Ottawa is not the real deal.
-
By far, the most disappointing performances have been with Marleau, Guerin, and Hannan. But I think guys like Grier, Michalek, Cheechoo, and Clowe have been busting their asses on every shift. Nabokov has done a good job in net. In playoff hockey, some guys show up and others don't. We have guys who haven't made big contributions in this series. Todd (cough cough) Bertuzzi (cough cough).

My original prediction was Wings in Seven. The current series situation hasn't changed my outlook.
-
Uh-huh. I recall many Sharks fans calling for a series sweep or a 4-1 series result. Now the Fish fans are revising their predictions to Sharks in 6. Keep up the confidence, Sharks fans.

This message was posted by a Sharks fan on the message board at sjsharks.com when San Jose had a 2-0 lead. "In the bag, NO WAY Detroit can comeback from a two goal deficit. Hasn't happened. Won't happen. Take those feet off the gas boys, save the effort for next round. Put her in cruise control, smooth sailing from here on out... This is SHARKS hockey!" Yeah. Uh-huh. This was a serious post btw. Sharks fans were calling this guy an idiot.

If the Wings are knocked out in this round and the Rangers advance...I will be pulling for the Blue Shirts to go all the way. Let's Go Rangers!! Let's Go Shanny!!

What another craptastic road loss by the Wings. Where to begin... 1. Hasek. He's a FLOPPER. On the TWO San Jose goals, Hasek was sprawled on the ice and vulnerable to SJ chipping in a goal. Terrible technique. Thanks Dom...you lost the game for us!!!!!!!!!! btw...on the second goal, I think Mik Sammy gave the Dominator the most disgusted look for giving up that softy goal. I hope the Wings players rip his ass a new one in the locker room. 2. WHY AREN'T WE CRASHING THE NET??????? I can't believe these 30 foot slap shots. It's like if the Detroit Pistons launch 3 pointers all night and they get NO rebounds in the paint. Hey Babs...get Bertuzzi and Cleary into the hot zone and jam those pucks in the net. Thank God Homer is coming back in Game 4. 3. SIZE MATTERS. So my date told me last month. Anyway, the Red Wing players are like tiny Sherman Tanks going up against German Panther and Tiger Tanks called the SJ Sharks. A Sherman tank shoots a shell at the Tiger Tank and the shell bounces off harmless. If you are a WW 2 buff...you would understand the analogy. Have a crappy night everyone.

Yes, we can get a win at the Shark Tank. Wings will split the San Jose home stand at 1-1.

GAME 3 (4/30): Red Wings @ Sharks- 10:00 PM ET
livediehockey80 replied to aflac9262's topic in General
Wings give up 3 goals in the first period. Crowd at Shark Tank goes nuts. The San Jose Tuna Fish will stop pressing and fore-checking. Wings chip away at the lead until they score late with a GWG. Crowd at Shark Tank will have this expression at the closing horn -
Exhibit A here.

I have nothing against the Sharks fans. If we lose against the Sharks, I won't feel bitter or scornful. Unlike the Calgary Flames fans, I know when to move on with my life and stop posting bitter messages.

Fans in San Jose have the Silicon Valley economy. Of course, Sharks fans can pony up $70 or $90 for a playoff ticket because they have six-figure dot.com/IT jobs. Job growth in that part of California has always been strong (even if you through in the H-1B visa workers). Michigan is ground zero for economic depression. Auto industry is dying. Blue-collar and white-collar layoffs are devastating the region's economy. Michigan has no investment diversity.

Convince me why I shouldn't be dreading this series....
livediehockey80 replied to Packer487's topic in General
Yeah but you can have all of the speed, power, and youth in the world. If your team can't put the puck in net...all of those skills and attributes are completely meaningless. There have been many teams with less talent, less size, and less speed that did very well in the playoffs. The 2003 Anaheim Ducks come to mind (cough cough). The 2004 Calgary Flames. The 2006 Edmonton Oilers. That's right...a team with more heart, grit and lucky scoring beat the mighty SJ Sharks last year in the playoffs if I remember. -
What really sucks if the Wings beat San Jose...they have to play another Pacific time team in either Anaheim or Vancouver. Can't win. If the Wings make it to the Stanley Cup Finals, it will be so great to watch a game end BEFORE 10:00 p.m. on a work night. God help us if a 10:00 p.m. game in San Jose goes into double or triple overtime. For revenge purposes, the league should start Red Wings home games at 11:00 a.m. on weekends so the Sharks/Ducks/Canucks fans have to get their asses out of bed by the 8:00 a.m. for opening face-off. Muuah...hah hah hah hah. Hmmmm...coffee, bagel, eggs and hockey; nothing like it.
