3/28 GDT: Blues 4, Red Wings 3 (OT)

THANK YOU. I'm in Louisville on business and was dying to see Mac's return. No hope of seeing it on in a bar around these parts!

    Run ins wearing the red.

When I was in Denver for work last month, I actually got more KUDOS from people for wearing a Wings shirt than I did friendly jabs. As soon as I deplaned, a guy came up to me and said "Hey, great shirt, go Wings!" Later in the evening at one of Denver's fine drinking establishments, I got a few of the more harassing comments, but they were all in good fun I will take the Red and White to Hawaii with me in September!

    Rocky Mountain Nation

Denver-area friends! I am going to be in Denver for work this weekend. Wings play both Friday and Saturday and I'd love to go somewhere to watch the game(s). Is the Moontime Bar still the place to catch the Wings? Any other recommendations? I've got a friend who just moved out there that I will probably be hanging with, as he'll be interested in trying to catch the game as well. Any tips are appreciated!

    All-Star Weekend Open Thread

came to comment on the same thing... isn't this an all-star game? where's the spirit of the game? and what's atlanta's vendetta against osgood? seems to me they're just parroting after other idiot fans around the league. at any rate, to booing all stars - any of them.

Zetterberg's Back Has Flared Up Again

So am I bordering on blasphemy when I say that Z's namby-pamby work ethic is getting to me? Of course I'm no doctor, so feel free to interject if I'm expecting too much out of him. But I'd like to see him work through some of this nonsense - what's he going to do in the playoffs when it gets sore? (Yes, I understand that playing through it now might result in him not even making the playoffs, but work with me on this.) I know the back is crucial to every aspect of vertical movement, but come on. I haven't even seen him try to grit through the pain... Or maybe it's simply unfair to hold anyone else but Steve Yzerman to a Steve Yzerman standard of guts.

1/10 GDT: Wild 6, Red Wings 5 (SO)

to half-assed attempts by zetterberg and dats. i do however, find it incredibly amusing that osgood suffers his worst game of the year after the week he's had - but only in an ironic sense. i in no way fault him for the loss. blah all around. didn't even deserve the point we got, IMO.

Osgood Named to West All-Star Team

Good for Ozzie. An all-star performance in the first half, and a spot on the team for someone whose numbers truly merit it. Well done, Oz!

    first Wings game from Virginia

I personally think that Cobo Joe's is a must. I'm going to the Caps game as well and we're going there for their amazingly good chicken fingers and onion rings. So stop by for a pint and incredible pre-game atmosphere. Hockeytown Cafe is nice, but overrated if you ask me. The Hilton Garden Inn is a great hotel in a great location. Close to Greektown, so you can take the peoplemover to the game and still be able to walk to Cheli's/stadiums. Get off at the Cobo Hall station and exit onto Congress, then hang a left - Cobo Joe's is at the corner of Congress and 1st (I think it's first, but at any rate, you can't miss it).

I'll be at this one! Wearing my 11-year old Ozzie jersey with pride, hanging out in the Olympia Club for the first time EVER before the game. We'll be in our seats for the action though, don't worry about that Hope they can turn it around after that brutal stand vs. the Central.

Goal Weight: 115 (by 11/3/07) Last Week's Weight: 123 (9/24/07) This Week: 122 (9/30/07) I was a little behind in checking in. Things were busy! I know my goal weight is 115, but I'm realistically shooting for 118. I play two softball games a week, and am walking two miles a day at work (2 loops around the building, twice a day). I'd like to get in some higher octane cardio, but I detest running more than anything on this planet. Weekend bike rides on Hines drive have to suffice. I started a weight set, alternating legs/butt and arms/abs every day and yoga stretches at night. Progress slow, as expected, but not at all discouraged. Feeling good!

One Last Pre-Season Game: Leafs @ Red Wings

I was at the game tonight, and I just had to say that the schedule HAS to change. Next season. I don't care what they have to do to get it done. The atmosphere was better than any regular season game I've been to in the past few years - and the stands weren't even full - AND it was the preseason. No created rivalry here - just good old fashioned, Original Six, old time hockey. I could have closed my eyes and sworn it was 1992 the way things felt tonight. We need more Toronto. Hockey need more stuff like this.

i like the bangs too. you can sweep them dramatically to the side for a fun look, or clip them up, or just leave them as is. but whichever you pick, i think they look great!

All true, SWF. I was being a bit dramatic with the smoking hot comment - and I agree that a pound here or there makes little difference. But I'm carrying it on a very tiny frame, so I always feel like it shows more (and that I can feel it more) when I fluctuate. Things fit a bit tighter, or the muscles look a less lean etc. Above all, I'd like to use it as motivation to look good, feel good and be well - the end numbers are secondary. Merely a goal to shoot for. I won't be bummed if I don't make it - I'll just feel good for trying! Thanks for your insight

New goal! My boyfriend's friend from college is getting married in November, and I want to look smoking hot in a new dress. That will be around my pre-Thanksigiving fast (in which I get my weight down to an acceptable level so that I may stuff myself with a turkey, a bushel of potatoes and a small bucket of gravy and not be 20lbs overweight). Goal Weight: 115 (by 11/3/07) Current Weight: 123 (9/24/07) That's just a little over a pound a week, so if done right (via healthy eating and exercise), totally possible. Already do those things anyway, so I just need to increase the intensity a bit and maintain that good old healthy diet (bringing my lunch every day to work - will save a few bucks too in the process!). Also, I don't really do a pre-Thanksgiving fast then gorge to such an extent - but I do prepare Will check back in next Sunday with an update.

What are you reading right now?

How did I not see this thread before? I finally finished Middlesex, a compelling read that somehow took me two years to finish. I know it came out forever ago, and I swear that I bought it before it became popular. It's also full of Detroit references (as it's set in the city), so that made the read all the more enjoyable. But I kept picking up other stuff and always had to shelve it. Finally sat through a sick weekend and went from start to finish. Up next are Love in the Time of Cholera (it's been a slow start) and Best Friends.

    96 / 97 Top 10 NHL goals

I can't believe that was 10 years ago. And yet I remember where I was at that exact moment as vividly as I remember what I ate for lunch today.

    NEW WINGS JERSEY!

I don't think the shoulder on the home jersey hasn't changed. If you look very closely, there is a little dip of a "U". You can't see the whole thing, merely the very top where it would start to slope down. Apart from that ghastly patch and the fact that they had to be streamlined, I think they look great. They're only different in proportion, which had to happen anyway. What's the problem?

    Bertuzzi a Duck: 2-Years, $8M

2 years, $8MM?? Is this guy for real? Honestly then, peace out, Bert. Use that money for good, Kenny.

When was your first Wings game at the Joe?

November 16, 1996 vs. Colorado. First matchup between the rivals after the Draper/Lemieux incident. Clod was injured unfortunately, so my hope for retribution that night would have to wait... I'd say it all turned out alright in the end Wings lost 4-1, and Kozlov scored my first goal (from Yzerman and Fedorov)
