tonite i took the girlfriend out to the movies, me and her were sitting in line, for tickets at amc 20 in livonia, when i heard some english being demolished. And it clicked in my head instantly with a certain swedish red wing in my head. i swung my head back to see no other but tomas holmstrom, with what must of been his 3 children in line directly behind me. he was wearing what looked to be a winter hat with the zorro zetterburg z on the front..(hmmm) but anyway, most fans i would assume would react with a hey homer! mr.holmstrom! or anything! but not me. i was speechless. i grabbed my girlfriend pacing back and forth whispered, its homer its homer!! she just laughed and said so do something about it. and while awkwardly looking at him even to the point where he must of known exactly what was going on, i still didnt say a word. minutes later i got in to the theatre and homer and his children went to the concession stand. i found a pen and paper to get ready to ask for his autograph and waited till he was checked out. half way towards him i froze again, looking like a fool, and chickened out for the second time. although this left my girlfriend rolliing on the grown laughing, i felt some what mixed on how to feel about not bothering him. although 70% of me was just plain to chicken to say a word, the other 30 felt like a dick to bother him trying to take his kids out for fun with the little time he gets. no one else when up to him, so i believe me leaving him alone prevented a chain reaction of tons of people. so what i was wondering is.... as fans, does anyone else freeze up like i do?? and also..... do you feel there are situations where when you spot a player in public it is better to let the player be and enjoy him self with out being mobbed by fans??

im glad to see others have this problem too, even at a practice skate ment for autograph signings i couldn't ask datsyuk with out my sister calling him over, and my english never comes out right with these people either, i believe i tried to say your an amazing player and i just studdered "ur..ur..dats..ur awesome..dats.."i think even datyuk pitied my english that day!!

i feel athletes are a little different than other entertainers like actors. i feel athletes should not have to deal with it as much as actors because playing a sport doesn't really have to do with the players personalities like acting does.

haha thanks it rarely happens to me so i think i just forget their human and over react like their a god. silly but, my religion is redwings hockey so i guess it is like seeing a god. The kids really did affect my choice to leave him be, they looked all 5 or younger and im sure during the season its hard for him to get the time to spend with the little ones. (oh and just incase anyone is wondering yes i am a freak and followed from a distance to see what they bought tickets for, and it was madagacar )

i will die laughing if when chelios returns our defense just completely turns around.

what bothers me are the games where both oz and conk have less than 20 shots on net and let in 3 or more goals. blame all the defense you want, but if your goaltender can't take 20 shots a game he needs to pick another profession.

osgood is easily in the bottom ten i would say for the worst starters in the league. with that being said some may not remember we are in a salary cap world, and we have arguably the most talented team in the league. Instead of complaining we dont have luongo, look around at the goaltenders making osgoods wage and those are the realistic options for the team. i dont like ozzie, i never will, but even with that being said for the price of osgood and cap world we are in, there is not one goalie i could honestly say would be an upgrade from the man. He does a fine job for what he gets, and like last playoffs he even offers some steller goaltending when he gets hot. with a cap, the current red wings everbeing able to get a luongo would be like the patriots getting a L.Tomlinson. its just not possible. bottom line, osgood for the price he is at is the best value in america besides a 5 dollar hot n ready.

I have always been a fan of mccarty. He was an exciting player to watch up until the 02 stanley cup finals. He played with heart, and he was a great hitter/grinder that never was shy to fight someone. But i feel what some may have forgot is that even back in his prime he never was a heavy weight fighter, he just never had the size and he was just a guy who faught with fire and emotion which for the most part made him capable to hold his own well. He will always be one of my favorite wings of all time. Now the hard part. I think it's fine we let mac get back on his feet last playoff run, threw a little cash his way and let him make a comeback attempt in the league. But this has got to stop. It has become a charity case gone wrong. The red wings are the most talented team in the league and one of the toughest teams to make. I feel the only reason mac is stil playing is because of the past he has with the team and it has gone way too long. Every one says mac over downey because he can contribute more to the team..... uh what? mccarty skates like he is just learning how to for the first time, once he finally gets control of the puck he loses his balance or simply turns it over, and his fighting ability, the thing he is supposed to still be able to do, has diminished in to a sad excuse for what he once was able to do. Downey is even a better skater at this point in my opinion and hands down i think we all know he is a better fighter currently. Mccarty, you were great. But it's time to think about the present and what is best for the team.

as a defensemen who has mastered the slew foot in front of the net for... moments when necessary haha ... i make it look as accidental as possible and one of them being looking the other way to make it like a colision, your right he was looking at the play but there is a very strong chance it was on purpose assuming the pros know the tricks that even the amateurs know.

okay now i mean this being as respectful to the guy as possible but... how much drugs, booze, and bankruptcy did it take to actually make you FORGET how to skate??? i mean .... has anyone else noticed this??? he skates with his weight on his heels like hes used to roller blades... they taught me in mini mite hockey not to skate like your "tossing hay" ... and he swings his stick left and right skating as if he was farmer jack him self. Not to mention he literally would skate in to sticks and feet (including his own) and fall down imediately..before mac left he knew how to skate.. infact in his prime he was really good... so... how much drugs did he take?

maybe..... things like the hardware dom has won from being a mvp caliber goalie which is something oz has not won yet. not that this is to bash osgood but to remind you that hasek is still the better all time goalie of the 2.

Once playoffs started and they had d mac in the line up i was thrilled. i couldn't wait to see mccarty on the ice with the team, protecting our skill players, standing up for the team. Well its about game 6 in the western conference finals now... I'm still waiting. Now i know mccarty as we all know ain't what he used to be, but come on... he cant even skate out there. I dont care how much drugs a guy does but how does a professional hockey player for get how to skate.. which leads me to thinking, what drug is babcock on to keep playing him???? now i love d mac, i always will for what he's done in the past but i think hes proven to us all he's not gonna cut it. So many cheapshots, so many oppurtunities for mccarty to stand up for the rest of team, and he has gotten in to ONE fight. And it was at a time i don't even think was very necessary. if downey was playing im SURE ott would have a fat lip or black eye by now. All season downey stuck up for The wings, he even made a new turtle on the avalanche. Why is he riding the pine for a player just signed on the team for enforcing purpose who can't even fulfill the role close to how downey has all season?? Just give downey a game, for cripes sake. i just think it is ridiculous, and i just wanted to know how others think about this. thoughts?

how has mccartys??? The point im trying to make is that if were going to have an enforcer that plays 3 minutes a game on the 4th line why not have one that will actually fulfill the role?? And everyone is saying he would only hurt the team but he even has points this season against dallas, he has an even plus minus, and he brings energy to the team with his hitting, not to mention he actually sticks up for his teammates which i haven't seen almost at all from the whole wings roster, MCCARTY included. the wings are playing like a bullied team that just are not in to it right now, and as a hockey player my self nothing gets you and your team pumped up more than to see some dick like ott get his ass handed to him.

are you saying mccarty wont or downey wont? And i feel abdelkader wouldn't be a bad idea to try either but i wouldn't mind sitting someone else for him like sammy.

because i don't feel holmstrom should have to have his face sat on by otts fat ass any time ott feels like doing it. because downey is the only person on the entire roster that might actually stand these bastards and it might make the other team think twice before they pull s*** again. although i wouldn't mind seeing abdelkader in for a game or so either to see what happens.

compared to mccarty's skating ability going as far as skating off the bench, tripping over his own skates, falling on his face, and skating back to the bench to just talk trash from his seat for the rest of the game??? i just feel if mccarty's play is good enough to play, how the hell isn't downeys?? at least downey WILL fight when hes out for his three minutes a game.

Emery needs to knock it off if he wants to stay in the league for a while, this isnt basketball or football where you can basicaly say or do what you want and as long as your play is good teams want you. okay im not even close to trying to flame ozzie but you say the team didnt show up against minnesota???? come on now. i think 5 goals in regulation is good enough when you only give up 20 or so shots on your own goal. And in the atlanta game, the wings still put pressure on just no luck. their 1 goal wouldn't of been enough but ozzie's inability to stop anything hossa shot wasn't helping either. Ozzies on a little bit of skid, face it. He's playing identically as bad as hasek was in the first month or so of the season. what happend to hasek?? he rode some more pine than usual. Just like ozzie is tonite. No biggie. Hasek found his game again as will ozzie soon enough. Just be glad hasek got hot as ozzie cooled off. You just gotta admit sometimes... It is osgoods fault. Just like some games in the begining of the season was haseks. but to end on a happy note: GO WINGS!!! Im feeling a 4 - 1 win in this one!! dats zetts falski and franzen for the wings scoring

yeah that was awesome i was there too and i joined in on all of that. im going to the game next thursday and me and a few of my friends mission is just to see how many chants and waves we can start in one game.

this is something that should be left alone, i mean come on leave some sort of defense in the game. all the nhl is doing any more is finding more ways to f*** over the defensive qualities of the game and its bull. more goals more goals more goals. this isn't basketball, we dont need a goal every 10 seconds to not get distracted and lose interest. real hockey is where a goal is an achievement, a big thing that you go crazy about when it happens because its not something that happens every minute. Is there any hockey fans left but me that would rather see a double overtime 1 - 0 game than a 9 to 7 win? i mean im a defensemen myself personally so maybe im biased but this is coming from brodeur and that makes no sense to me.

what is the deal with 9 dollar seats??? can you still get them?? and how?? i have never seen it on ticketmaster or anything except the comercial
