It's surely going to be interesting, isn't it? Detroit didn't do this. I tell ya, the last couple of seasons that were lead by the young guns (Zetts/Dats) we've seen the Wings hold up to $5 million in cap space, IIRC. And that was w/ Hasek and Osgood! lol. You didn't see Holland and Company (Bowman) flirt w/ the Cap like this. Now sure, the last 2 seasons, yeah we did. But it workded, reguardless if we lost the last one. It WORKED. Know why? Because our young guys were more experienced! Chicago is not to that point w/ their young guys IMO. Chicago is really intriguing to me. I only root for Bowman and Hossa over there. And to be frank, I could care less if Bowman wins another Cup. Sure I'd like him to beat out Phil for most Championships, but at this point, he's not a Detroit Red Wing, so it's like a moot point. I'd like to see Hossa win one, as long as it doesn't come at the expense of the Detroit Red Wings and that isn't handed to them (sorry). I also don't want to see war in Korea, but what do I know. Hope I make some sence here. lol

I suppose that's one way of looking at it. I am really thinking that they are intending to trade a big contract. Oh, I know man. I was just saying that so that he doesn't get ripped in this thread. You know how some people here bash posters that are fans of other teams for no reason (i.e. Pens fans, well some deserved it)? Just wanted to say that the 'Hawks fan's I've seen on here are pretty cool, not trolls. Good point on Madden. Figure that the Salary Cap goes down next year though. That could possibly void that contract, it's like you didn't even drop Madden's salary off the books if the cap goes down in 2010-2011. Just something to chew on.

Maybe it was a different 'Hawks fan? There are a couple of them that post here. They are actually really good hockey fans and great on the forums here.

Sopel's cap hit is between 2 and 3 million if IRC. What about Burish?
-
Well somebody in Chi-town is on the way out. Wow. Umm....the latter!! Okay, but if you do that how thin are you guys on D?

The Blackhawks have confirmed winger Kris Versteeg has signed a three-year contract worth a reported $9.25 million. HOLY s***!!!
-
Versteeg signs 3-year deal with Blackhawks http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune....blackhawks.html Can't wait to see the Terms on this one.
-
3 year deal.
-
Yeah, you're right Miller. I remember hearing that also. They have been VERY close to a long-term deal for sometime now.
-
Yeah, and NOW the NHL will move the Wings to the Western Conference.
-
Yeah, this is very sad, but true. It seems the Red Wings have their superstars locked up for a long time, and I don't see any more superstars going our team for some time.

I don't even want to think about Lidstrom retiring after this season. Man, I though Luongo already resigned. I bet he does before UFA.
-
Wow. That's crazy.
-
You would get Nabakov? He's no chop liver!! I'd take him over HUET any day! EDIT: My bad, I just noticed you were talking about after this season. Anyway, no way this trade happens.
-
NICE!! Thankfully it isn't 1.6m per.
-
Fine. But anyway; by the comments posted by Holland, I am damn excited!!!
-
I hear ya Blakky on the Toronto Media though.
-
HAHA! That might also help improve his size.
-
Not too sure how much his size will improve.

1. This whole Hossa being a potential locker room Cancer; No, that is Heatley. 2. Yzerman to the 'Hawks? It's a simple question of, "Will you bite the hand that feeds?"
-
It's a moot point.
-
It's very sad.

LINK According to WTVF-TV in Nashville, former Pro Bowl quarterback Steve McNair has been killed. Police said McNair suffered a fatal gunshot wound in downtown Nashville Saturday. The TV station reported police said it looked like a double homicide. A female victim was also found dead. McNair played for the Houston Oilers, Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens, and was selected to the Pro Bowl three times. He was the co-NFL MVP in 2003. This is just sad. RIP.
