I know. That sucks. #$&*! Bettman. Trying to be like the other leagues. Every other league has name like north, south, east, etc. Why the $%&*^ did'nt he leave s*** alone. The original names, Norris, Adams, Campbell, etc, those were awesome names that were unique and related to the sport.

And only two west coast/West Canada trips in which the games are in succession. None of that back and forth every couple days BS.

Looks like it could be longer than this weekend. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2013/07/nhl_waiting_for_olympic_partic.html The 2013-14 NHL schedule will not be released until the league's participation in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia is finalized. The NHL was hoping to release the schedule Wednesday or Thursday, during the Major League Baseball All-Star break, but the league continues negotiations with the International Olympic Committee and the International Ice Hockey Federation. "There has been no final agreement on the terms of Olympic participation at this point," NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly told NHL.com. "And unless, or until, there is, the release of the 2013-14 regular-season schedule would be premature. Having said that, we hope that a final resolution on both matters can be achieved in the very near future." That agreement could be finalized on Friday, or it might take a little longer. The schedule features a 17-day Olympic break in February, so the NHL can't reveal it until after there is a formal announcement of Olympic participation. The league is expected to reveal its division names with the schedule. The Detroit Red Wings have moved to the Eastern Conference, joining an eight-team division with Boston, Buffalo, Florida, Montreal, Ottawa, Tampa Bay and Toronto.

Well, that ship has sailed. I was hoping and expecting more from McCollum. He will not be resigned http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2013/07/red_wings_cut_ties_with_tom_mc.html

I too voted for Clarkson. That would be awsome. However, if this Mlive article is correct. There will be no Clarkson. Holland needs to trilm some fat and let some people walk, including Cleary and either Miller or Eaves. They won't have the money to sign Clarkson if they resign Cleary. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2013/06/red_wings_hoping_to_sign_veter.html -

Figures. I have 6 tickets. All for not. -
Paid for mine today as a season ticket holder. Deadline is the week of July 9th. Although they will not be mailed until Dec 1st
-
Great idea, works for me. I too have been put in charge of getting several tickets, 8 so far. Hopefully season tickets holders are allotted only so many, then non-season ticket holders. And if any are remaining after a certain time, they re-offer additional to the season ticket holders. Thats what they do for baseball playoffs and season openers, hockey is similar in some arenas.

I'm so ******* pissed right now I can't see straight. WTF. The PK was crap. Why the hell do they just stand there and allow them to set up and shoot. Why the f*** can't they be a little aggressive and go after the puck and make them pass off quicker then they want. And dats, for Christ sake, that goal was given to him on a platter and he chokes. SOFB. -
Yes you may.

Two more thoughts here. Tire breaker. If we have a tie, at the end of the year, who had the most winning weeks, or higher ranking weeks between the two that are tied. Example, after the two throw outs, player A beats player B 11 weeks, they tied 5 times, the other 9 times player B won. Out of those 25 weeks Player A was a little better, so he gets the tie break. If that is tied and they are both 10-5-10. Then add their 10 top weeks, the higher of course wins. If that is tied, then top 5 weeks. Second thought, if we want to keep the bonus week, just start a second site. Everyone picks 1 game for the bonus point in the second site. At the end of the year, just manually add the two together and post the final in the LGW site. The bonus point could also be used for another tie breaker option. Most bonus point wins, gets the tie break.

I like the weighted thing. Try it for the year. If we don't like it, go back to double up next year. I'm game either way though.

I'll be there. Have not missed an opener in years. Can't wait.

Hey Guys. Found a site that might work. Its a pick'em pool site for hockey. They have fri thru sunday option. One point per win. Maybe this can cut down on the work. http://www.pooltracker.com/game_info/nhl_pickem.asp#.TooP-kSouKV Does not have option for bonus picks or toss out of worst three weeks. But it can do the totaling and then you can use that in Conjunction with bonus and worst weeks on the LGW site. They have pay and free sites. The free just calculates for us. Free Pools Scores calculated nightly no Banner Ads Free means Free; No Fees Unlimited Players

I like the change. Looks great.

Ditto on the http://www.hockeystreams.com. I have used them many times. Very reliable. You can use many of the free sites, justinTV, atdhenet.org, etc, but they are just not reliable.

Looks like Kenny is thinking about it. Not sure here. Prefer Jagr over Huds. But I prefer younger over Jagr. I guess give him a tryout and see where his skill set is. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2011/06/jaromir_jagr_to_the_red_wings.html DETROIT -- Former NHL scoring leader and league MVP Jaromir Jagr wants to return to North America, and Detroit is his preferred destination. The Red Wings are exploring the possibility of signing the 39-year-old forward who has spent the past three seasons playing in Russia, Booth Newspapers has learned. The Red Wings didn’t call Jagr. His agent, Petr Svoboda, called them. But Red Wings general manager Ken Holland has had several conversations with Svoboda, and coach Mike Babcock has spoken to Jagr. Svoboda reportedly contacted Pittsburgh and the New York Rangers, two of Jagr’s former teams, as well as Montreal. But Jagr would prefer to play in Detroit for the chance to play with highly skilled players Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg and, if he returns, Nicklas Lidstrom. The Red Wings consider it a gamble, since Jagr turns 40 on Feb. 15 and hasn’t played in the NHL since 2007-08. But they also believe it might be worth the risk if they can get the Czech native fairly cheap, since they don’t have to relinquish anything in return. Holland declined comment, except to acknowledge that his club has been contacted and is exploring the possibility. Jagr has good size (6-foot-3, 240 pounds) and the ability to hang onto the puck. It remains to be seen how much his offensive skills have deteriorated since he collected 25 goals and 46 assists in 82 games with the Rangers in ’07-08. He is a five-time winner of the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL’s scoring leader and the 1998-99 Hart Trophy winner as MVP. Jagr has 646 goals and 953 assists for 1,599 points in 1,273 games in 17 NHL seasons with Pittsburgh, Washington and the Rangers. He ranks ninth on the career points list and is second only to Gordie Howe among right wings. Jagr had 19 goals and 32 assists in 49 games last season with Omsk Avangard in Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League. The Red Wings wrapped up two days of organizational meetings on Wednesday. While the main focus likely was to discuss potential free-agent targets to replace defenseman Brian Rafalski, they might also be in the market for a forward. Despite finishing second in the league in goals — just one less than Vancouver — in 2010-11, the Red Wings might look to boost their offense.

Yeah, the Firing squad.

Excuse my choice of words. How about the 3rd or 4th Dman.

He's already stated that he would be willing to move down to the 3rd and 4th defensive pairing in the future. That to me indicates he will be back.
