Question for the Board regarding Babcock
Blood On The Ice replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Babs said that he would have a answer by Wed morning. I guess we have our answer, Mlive reports that Redwings have increased their final offer to 4mil and that Toronto and Buffalo are in a bidding war, he goes to the highest bidder. And I thought money was NOT the issue. If that was really true, money not being the motivator, we would have an hard answer by now. -
When I'm in town, I always stay at the Double Tree inn, by Hilton. Reasonable prices. Walking distance to the Joe, 15 mins and 2 mins from the people mover. From there you can visit Greek Town, the Casino, Hockeytown cafe, etc. Nice little bar close to the hotel called the Anchor http://doubletree3.hilton.com/en/hotels/michigan/doubletree-suites-by-hilton-hotel-detroit-downtown-fort-shelby-DTTLFDT/index.html

In Buffalo that is. And while the Wings are in town.Congrats to Dom. And pretty cool that it will be with the wings, a few of his fellow players can enjoy the experience. I still remember the night the wings announced that they traded for Dom. I yelled, "the Wings just won the cup". http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2014/10/dominik_haseks_no_39_to_be_ret.html

I just got done telling the wife, this is the scary part for the wings, every game, last 1 minute. Two seconds after I said that, score. WTF can't this team not allow a goal in the last 60 seconds of a game? How many times have they done that this year?

GDT 1/18 GDT: Kings 2 @ Red Wings 3 (Shootout)
Blood On The Ice replied to MabusIncarnate's topic in General
Can't do that, where will it end. Games will end up being 4 hours long. Line has to be drawn somewhere. This type of play does not happen often. Nobody is perfect, people make mistakes. At least the rule book covers the scenario and by the rule book, the call was correct. Best way to fix the net thing, allow play off the net, just like the glass. If it's not the net, it will be something else. I can think of worse calls, especially when the ref is looking right at the puck and still misses it. Many of the Homy calls were worse, Wings lost goals just because he sniffed the blue paint. Won't be long, wings will have one that does not go their way. -
Per M.Live. Gets the start against Philly. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2013/10/red_wings_recall_luke_glendeni.html

NHL does it every year. I know this because I usually don't get my fantasy teams set by 1 pm and always miss out on the points. So, thanks for the reminder.

Nobody has started a weekend picks pool yet. I mentioned something last week, got no response. So I started one for this year. Single point for a win with the tie breaker being a cumulative score for the last game. Link is below. Password = gordie http://www.pooltracker.com/join.asp?poolid=81901

Report: Cleary to sign with PHI, 3 yrs, $2.75m/yr, NTC
Blood On The Ice replied to Jedi's topic in General
Not what I was hoping for. He just takes a spot from a younger guy that needs the ice time. Someone will have to go to make room for this to happen. Who will that be? -

Per Mlive today Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said he spoke with forward Darren Helm last week in British Columbia, Canada and the progress report he got back was good. Helm played in one regular-season game last season and missed all of the playoffs with a back injury. He skated at the Red Wings development camp in Traverse City last month. “Everything’s good,” Holland said. “He feels good. He’s training. I know he trained very hard last week. He’s in Detroit. He’s very happy where he’s at. He has no issues. Obviously, the challenge is physical play. I’m cautiously optimistic.” Holland is hoping Helm will be able to come to training camp next month without any issues. “Getting banged around, that’s part of his game,” Holland said. “That’s part of what makes him special. He’s physical. He’s on the puck. He finishes body checks. He goes to hard areas. “I’m sure early on we’ll probably go light with him in preseason games. But in order to be able to play the first game of the year against Buffalo on Oct. 2, he’s going to have to play three or four preseason games. My feeling is if he’s in the lineup against Buffalo we’re feeling pretty good about things.” Helm would be a huge boost to the team’s depth as their third-line center. The Wings were essentially without an entire third line last season with Helm, Todd Bertuzzi (back) and Mikael Samuelsson (multiple injuries) limited to a combined 12 games.
