The Griffins are an affiliate of Dallas for this year as well, the Stars do not have an affiliate this season. They will be starting a new team in Cedar Park, Texas called the Texas Stars, (Cedar Park is just outside of Austin) Since they don't have an affiliate they are sending players around the AHL, Stafford is with the Griffins as well as another Dallas player Landon Wilson.

Just got back from the Griffins game. If they played the last 50 minutes the way they played the first 10 minutes, we would have a really great team. During the first 10, Leino had a goal and assist, Abdulkader had a great deflection on a shot from Erikson, but after the first 10 minutes they fell asleep and almost blew a 4-0 lead, Ended up winning 6-4. Shorthanded goal after not scoring on a 5 on 3 really hurt. But they got it done at the end.

The Wings will probably have some kind of "retro" jersey for the Winter Classic in Chicago. but that's about it, I don't want a third jersey for the Wings. The Wings don't need to bring themselves down to the level of other teams who change jersey's every two months, How many jersey's has Pittsburgh had in the last 4 or 5 years. How many diffent logos have they used. What's wrong with the classic winged wheel on a red or white jersey. Perfect for me
-
My take on some of these. 5 Lidstrom - Nick will have his number retired. No doubt about this one. 91 Fedorov - I would have to think twice about it, but I would say yes. Despite the "way he left." He is still one of the top players in Red Wings history, he did help us win three Stanley Cups. I will always remember the game winning goal in game 3 of the 98 finals against Washington. The Wings helped him defect. 24 Chelios - I would say no. When you think of Chelios, you mostly associate him with the Blackhawks, even though he has now been a Red Wing longer than he was a hawk. He was named one of the Blachkawhs all time players a few years ago. I don't percieve him as a Red Wing like I do as a Blackhawk. His glory years were in Chicago and maybe even Montreal. 30 Osgood - No. I can't believe I am saying this, but when you think of the players that have their jersey's retired, Howe, Sawchuk, Lindsay, Delvecchio, Abel, Yzerman. Does Ozzie really compare. As unfair as this sounds, but I can't seem to get the 94 loss to San Jose out of my head when thinking about Ozzie. Yes he has three Cups (2 he won as the starter), but I don't think that he is going to have the jerseys up in the rafters. 16 Konstantinov - No. While his accomplishments on the ice were great, I don't think that he'll get a jersey retired up in the rafters. 16 will always be one of those unofficial retired numbers. I am more comfortable with that one, it almost seems more of an honorable way to say he'll always have that jersey waiting for him if he ever can recover. I think it sounds like an inspirational story. Retiring his jersey puts an ending to the Vladdy story. Leaving it unretired gives hope to Vladdy and other people facing similar situations. I look at it like the Wings are saying to Vladdy, "When you get better, you'll have that jersey ready for you." Yes he was a great defenseman, but we'll never know how good he could have been. I would use that argument for Fischer as well. 14 Shanahan - I am having a hard time of finding ways to say no, but I can't really think of any. He really was the catalyst for the Wings winning the cup in 1997. I am sure we could be finding reasons to put Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Franzen in the rafters right now. But it takes more than a stanley cup and a great season to put your jersey up in the rafters. This is a career accomplishment, not one season. If you made an opinion on Zetterberg, before the 2008 season, we probably would have said no. Didn't we all jump on him about disappearing in the playoffs. Now because we won a cup and he won a Conn Smythe do those previous seasons not matter. If playoff success is what matters, than Filppula, Hudler, and Helm are the next to get their jersey's retired.

Is it just me or do the new jersey's of Carolina, look like the old Sabres jerseys
-
Been flipping back and forth between the Wings and Griffins GR lost 4-3 in overtime to Lake Erie. Larsson was in goal. Griffins goals by Oulahen, Leino, and Abdulkader.
-
Could be worse, the new Blue Jackets jersey's are rumored to have the words "SUCK" right on them LA was also going that direction
-
Ellis was probably one of the top 5 Griffins players. He didn't have the flashy numbers in GR like Hudler and Flip had. But Ellis was always one of the hardest working players, I think he was probably our 2nd best captain. Excellent Penalty Killer. I will always remember him scoring an overtime goal in the playoffs shorthanded.

But it's not the Dan Cleary version of "Come In"
-
Nothing to do with the game, but the Tigers still suck
-
It's not bad. It could be worse. The Preds 3rd jersey the mustard color with the skull was hideous And Does anybody remember the Dallas Stars old "Neon Uterus"

1. Who are some players that will hit 50 goals this season? Ovechkin. 2. Who are some players that will hit 100 points this season? Datysuk, Ovechkin 3. The rookie of the year will be...? Stamkos 4. What will be the cup finals matchup? Detroit vs. Montreal 5. Will Martin Havlat finally stay healthy for good portion of the season? Not a chance 6. Who (other than Lidstrom) has the best chance of winning Norris? Nobody, the NHL already has Nick engraved on the trophy in 2009. 7. Crosby or Ovechkin... Who will outnumber the other in total points? Ovechkin 8. Datsyuk or Zetterberg... Who will outnumber the other in total points? Datsyuk 9. Zetterberg or Hossa... Who will outnumber the other in goals scored? Zetterberg 10. Can the Columbus Blue Jackets make their playoff debut? I hope you're not serious

I would love to see a "Cold-War 2" at Michigan Stadium. It would probably have to wait until 2010 when the renovations at U of M are completed. But a Wings/Avs or Wings/Leafs game at U of M would be great.
-
They will also be hosting the allstar game They also are hosting the draft. Montreal has already played an outdoor game in Edmonton I don't want to see Montreal get Everything just because it's their 100th year. What happens when the rest of the original 6 gets to their 100th season?
-
And, Zetterberg didn't score that goal. What you don't see is Holmstrom banging in that puck. He got credit for the Wings second goal in game 2. Hank took the initial shot, but it was finished off by homer.
-
How about Brian Burke and Kevin Lowe. Let them battle it out in Siberia
-
Sidney Crosby and Evegeni Malkin. They could restart the old Russian Penguins. And then Pittsburgh fans can hate Russia and forget about Hossa coming here.
-
Chronic condition.... Possible diagnosis. 1. Ingrown toenail 2. Clubbed foot 3. Athletes foot 4. removed said foot from his rectum after the Wings shoved it up there in June.

The versus website says that the season opener for us against the Leafs is Versus exclusive. Unfortunately for us fans... They won't show a minute of the banner ceremony

I'd prefer for some of the olympic events to be like they were in the ancient olympics. competitors in the nude. Events that should be competed in the nude. Women's Beach Volleyball (practically there already) Women's swimming Women's volleyball Women's gymnastics. Women's basketball Women's badminton Women's Canoe/Kayak Women's cycling Women's diving Women's equestrian Women's fencing... Uh on second thought... maybe not. Women's field hockey Women's handball Women's judo Women's pentathalon Women's rowing Women's sailing Women's shooting Women's soccer (they should keep the shin guards though... need to have some safety gear. Women's syncronized swimming Women's Taekwando Women's tennis Women's track and field (not so much the hammer throw and shot put) Women's trampoline Women's triathlon Women's water polo all women's sports except weightlifting... Don't need to see that.

NHL network has been showing games from the 2007 and 2008 playoffs all summer. The 2008 Wings vs. Colorado series is being played throughout the next week or so. As well as the Wings vs. Sharks series from 2007. www.nhlnetwork.tv should have the schedule
