Would somebody remind Canada that the games have actually started. Medal table as of Tuesday Morning has the Americans leading with 21... tiny little Tajikistan has more than our neighbors to the North, (or south if you're in Detroit) Georgia, even despite being invaded by Russia has a bronze. That's still one more medal than Canada I guess we know what "O' Canada" really means "O fer Canada"

Which of These Players Should Make the Hall of Fame?
sjradio replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
500 career goals, only the 4th American born player to reach that total. (Mullen, Modano, Roenick, Tkachuk) Mullen is in the HOF. I can say that Modano and Roenick will be in the HOF. Tkachuk will to, even though he didn't play for the big name teams, Winnipeg, Phoenix, St. Louis, and briefly for Atlanta. I think he's deserving of the HOF. Tkachuk reached 500 faster than Calgary's Lanny MacDonald who is in the HOF. Tkachuk did it in 1,055, McDonald did it in 1,107. In fact, Tkachuk will PASS MacDonald's career total with one more goal. -

After watching the team off and on last year I can say with the exception of Helm and Ericcson. NOBODY on the Griffins did that well. Some of it had to do with coaching, Stothers didn't do a good job of putting the players in the right situation and had problems keeping the team focused after the horrible start of the season. Stothers was a junior coach and his systems didn't work. As much as I really don't like the hiring of Curt Fraser, I think that he at least knows what it takes to motivate professional players and how to get the most from them. Kindl is a work in progess. I have seen times where he was the best player on the ice... And other times where he should have been the first of a few players on the bench. He's got to get to a level where he is playing in as many different situations and getting better each and every time. That's what development is.... He's got to get better. If you look at the players on D ahead of him on the depth chart. He's got a long way to go.

We all know that trades are going to happen. Sometimes they work out. And sometimes they'll bite you back... (see Knuble, Mike). There is a risk in dealing players. But if you can't afford them then you have to trade them. If the Wings trade Lilja, then they'll at least get something in return. They won't if they buy him out.

Hey everybody Please realize that Detroit's name of "Hockeytown" is actually shortened for "Hockeytown USA" the USA part has never really been incorporated into the marketing, But if you watched the Wings back when Dave Strader was doing games on PASS, he opened a lot of Wings games by saying "Welcome to Hockeytown USA" or some other version of that. I think that Montreal is Hockeytown Canada. I think that Detroit is Hockeytown USA I think that Minnesota is the State of Hockey USA I think that Ontario is the Province of Hockey Canada Buffalo has a great fanbase, and a great youth programs. But without a Stanley Cup, I would have a hard time calling them Hockeytown. Pittsbugh is NOT hockeytown. They are a football town, the Steelers are the main team. Where were these fans when the Pens were terrible??? Only after Crosby was handed to them by the NHL's rigged lottery draft did they start to gain interest again. Plus can you call any city that was within inches of losing their team to Kansas City of all cities... Hocketown? They are so proud of the 60+ sellout streak... Um excuse me. Detroit's sellout streak was over 400? 450? Plus last time I checked. The Igloo in Pittsburgh holds about 16,000. The Joe 20,000? 60 x 16,000 compared to 400 x 20,000.

Still had a lead going into the 9th with nobody on... Jones blew it again. I'm getting real tired of this. If this was the Wings, Holland would have done something by now.

Atlanta boards are talking about Darren Haydar (AHL scoring champ the last few years) being signed by the Wings. Anybody hear anything??? Here's the Thrashers board http://forums.atlantathrashers.com/index.php?showtopic=21228

Another "stellar" performance by Jones. single to put the tying run on and allows a home run and blows it again. When is Dombrowski going to dump this pathetic excuse for a "closer". Had a perfect chance to move up closer to the White Sox and he blows the save, and now instead of gaining ground, we lost a game. SOMEBODY RUN JONES OUT OF TOWN... I CAN'T TAKE MUCH MORE OF HIS CRAP!!!!

Chicago County Comissioner Already Trying to Mix It Up
sjradio replied to edicius's topic in General
Don't you just love how we have more cups in the last 11 seasons than they do in their entire 75 year history. The minor league team up the road has more championships than the Hawks. With the exception of the Bulls and the Bears in 86. Chicago Sports have been a century of failures. (I know the White Sox won in 2005) Hawks 1934,1938, 1961 (48 years by the time the next playoffs roll around. Sox nothing for over 88 years. (1906, 1917, 2005) oh... Did I mention the Cubs yet? A century of failure. -

After watching the press conference and the NHL Network's "post-game" It's quickly becoming evident that there is a pro-Blackhawks spin to all of this..... It's all about the "New Young Blackhawks" and the "Revitalized Hawks" "Showcasing Chicago" "Patrick Kane and Johnathan Toews" "Brian Campbell" and we're the sidenote..... "and oh yeah, the Defending Stanley Cup Champions Detroit Red Wings" The press conference itself was a Blackhawks love fest there were 20 current and past Chicago players. The owner of the hawks, the MC was Ed Olczyk. We had one representative... Jimmy D. I know they're hosting the game, but last year the focus was "Crosby this and Malkin that" who were the visiting team. It wasn't focused on Buffalo much. The NHL is finding another way of giving the Wings a kick in the behind.

Lidstrom + Umberger = Limburger (I know that stinks) -
Well, I wonder what the insurance company will say if they find out about this....

I don't know if they've worn them recently, but I really liked Chicago's "Black" jersey's A team called the Blackhawks, shouldn't have red as their jersey color.

My take 1. Yzerman (I know he doesn't have the numbers, but playing through what he's had to endure is #1 in my book) 2. Lidstrom (Can't argue with the type of hardware he's collected) 3. Fedorov (I might have had him higher if not for the holdout season in 97-98) 4. Zetterberg (He has Sergei's skill with the puck, but his best days are still to come) 5. Shanahan (A true power forward, I think was the reason for the cup wins in 1997 and 2002.) 6. Datsyuk (I would have had him higher if not for some very bad playoff years after the cup in 2002) 7. Ciccarelli (I know we didn't win a cup with him, but the power play numbers were good) 8. Osgood (even though we did win the cup in 97, I still thought he should have played in the playoffs) 9. Vernon (my view on him changed after the beat down of Patrick Roy) 10.Draper (Best faceoff man, excellent Penalty killer, the top "role player" on any team)

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20..._chance_to.html The Wings have put in ticket requests so Wings fans will have a chance to buy tickets.

Got mine at best buy. You can order it online and then pick it up in the store. I really enjoyed the "Wireless Practice" bonus feature. Although I wish it could have been a little longer on that part. It was great to see Malts, Mac, and Draper clowning around like that.

Mags will have a rehab stint tonight in Grand Rapids for the Whitecaps. Oh man I wish I could go, but I've got to work tonight.
