    $20M for Sundin?

It looks like the Canucks are putting all their eggs in one basket in overpaying for Sundin. They were already turned away by Backus from St. Louis. Most everybody has done at least something in the last 24 hours, Vancouver is seemingly sitting on the sidelines, not good for a rookie GM who is a former player agent. Linden is gone, he is most likely going to lose Naslund, he was unsuccessful with Backus, and now the hopes of Canucks nation are riding on Mats Sundin, who may not play, who may want to play for a contender, who may consider another team. Despite the rumors, I don't think the Wings are out of the Sundin picture yet. He might want to play with the "Swedish" team (I know the Sedins are swedes too) But in all honesty. I would hope that Sundin sees the Canucks offer as a hail mary to save the Canucks 08-09 season, which by the looks of things is going to be a major dissapointment, and training camp hasn't even started yet.

    Wings interested in Ray Emery

I still don't believe Jimmy Howard is as NHL ready as everybody here thinks he is. Watched him during this last year and he struggled. He was not sharp, he regressed some this past season. He's really got to get his act together if he's going to be backup in Detroit in 08-09

    Wings interested in Ray Emery

two words..... Grand Rapids... Nobody in the NHL would want him. He'd clear waivers without a problem. He practiced with the Griffins in 2000-01 in the playoffs when GR was the Ottawa affiliate.

    Francis Paré

http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=51710 He is property of the Griffins at the AHL level, but he CAN signed by ANY NHL team, since he was undrafted he is a free agent for any NHL team. It also means that the NHL team if they signed him could send him to their AHL affiliate team because they hold his rights, and Grand Rapids couldn't do a thing about it. When the NHL team signs the player, his AHL contract usually is voided out, there are usually clauses saying that you can be released if you're signed by an NHL team.

    Red Wings to carry enforcer.

Darcy Tucker is available, and Toronto picks up a third (or is it two-thirds) of his salary.

    If you were the Commish

    1. Icing the puck should be from the defensive blue line not th center red line. 2. No touch icing, watching Kurtis Foster being hit into the boards in San Jose is reason enough. 3. Everything should be reviewable. Goals, penalties (IE a missed high sticking call, a bulls*** no goal call of a rear end in the crease.) 4. A system that would automatically detect a puck going over the line, one that could confirm a puck going over the line without any video link. Here's an example. In the Dallas/San Jose OT game there was a shot that Evgeni Nabokov saved that looked like from a certain angle that part of the glove was in the net, the problem is that you couldn't see the puck, but there was a chance that the puck could have been across the line. Video couldn't see the puck but the puck could have been across the line. Another case was the Wings vs. Nashville in game 6. Dats was driving to the net and was taken out, the puck looked like it was in as he crashed into the net, The puck wasn't visable until after the net came off the moorings, but if you think about it logically the puck was across the line and should have been a goal. 5. Moving the Red Wings to the Eastern Conference. 6. At media press conferences, coaches shall not "Plant the seed" , IE... Michel Therrien's bulls*** about the Wings alleged obstruction. 7. Diving calls, if the player "helps out the ref" the diving player should be the only penalty called. It's either or... Not both. 8. The Referee up high shall not call penalties below the circles. 9. Define what is and what is NOT a hook. Having your stick parallel to the ice does not automatically mean there is a hook. 10. Tripping down a player who has an empty net in front of him, IS a penalty. 11. Let local TV broadcast all playoff games in addition to the national feed. (wouldn't you rather listen to Ken and Mick rather than the VS or NBC morons). 12. Teams cannot ristrict sales of tickets to certain locations. 13. all team bench area's should be large enough to have all personel on the bench. Example, the visiting team back up goalie's having to sit in the team tunnel. 14. Expansion teams in Kansas City and Houston. Moving the Wings and Columbus to the east. 15. Stop revenue sharing. teams like Detroit and NYR don't need to be funding teams like Nashville and Edmonton. 16. Drop the instigator rule. That's enough for now.

    Griffins Fire Head Coach

The Rampage actually made the playoffs???? I haven't been to a Rampage game since the Arenabowl win.

    Griffins Fire Head Coach

Yes the coaches have a lot to do with that but you also have to look at the fact that teams like Atlanta have a deeper farm system than the Wings. Atlanta gets draft picks and gets prospects to build a team. The Wings trade away draft picks and prospects to other teams to build a team. Sean Avery, Shawn Matthias, Tomas Fleischmann, Darryl Bootland, Yuri Butsayev, Drew MacIntyre, Joey MacDonald, Jason Williams, Stacy Roest , Maxim Kuznetsov, Dmitry Bykov, are some of the prospects that were traded or just let slip away for varioius reasons.

Thrashers hire John Anderson as head coach

As a person who has watched JA teams beat Grand Rapids on many occasions. I'm glad he's gone. He is a good hire for the Thrashers. He DOES know the Thrashers players, he knows how to win. His players are tough.

    Griffins Fire Head Coach

Well this was a stunner when I woke up this afternoon. But IMO, the Griffins were terrible this season. Our power play was terrible, we couldn't do much of anything right. Now I will say that we had more of a fair share of injuries. But when we did have everybody in the lineup at the start of the season we didn't win a home game over the first month. As for a replacment... I have no idea. The Wings pulled Stothers out of left field. The Griffins could look anywhere.

Any thoughts on who will be the next assistant coach?

After watching Larry Murphy bow down and plant his lips on the Penguins collective asses during his work with the NHL Network during the finals. I have lost whatever respect I had for him. I wouldn't want him near the Wings.
  24. Former Chicago Blackhawks coach Craig Hartsburg will be named as the Ottawa Senators next head coach, according to TSN http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=240543&amp...=headlines_main

Any thoughts on who will be the next assistant coach?

I think there is really only one current AHL head coach would be NHL ready. Manoitoba's Scott Arniel probably is one of the better current coaches in the AHL. I wouldn't think that either one of the Griffins coaches is ready to come up. Mike Stothers or Jim Paek is not ready to come up as a coach of the Red Wings. The only other possibilities from the AHL is Todd Richards of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (I know) and Dan Bylsma the Assistant at WBS. Richards' brother Travis is the only Griffin player to have his number retired, he's been a successful head coach at Milwaukee and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He's won as a player.
