    12/26 GDT: Red Wings 5, Blues 0

It really is too bad that St. Louis hasn't figured out what we know in Detroit. Former players, who become TV analysts, that become General Managers, don't always work. Millen doesn't work for the Lions, and Davidson doesn't work for the Blues.

    Possible new coach?

Well, I don't know what to think about the new coach just yet. Some people know me that I haven't really liked any Griffins coach since Guy Charron... But I'll give this guy a chance... We couldn't do much worse. As for Keefe. I think we still need to have a few tough guys on the team. Especially now that Bootland has signed with the Islanders

Reports: 2nd outdoor game in the works

If the game was to be held. Spartan Stadium would be out of the question probably because MSU converted the field to natural grass a few years ago. When the Spartans hosted the "Cold War" Spartan stadium had the old turf which really didn't hurt the field when they put the rink on top of it. at the same time. The "Big House" had the natural grass field. U of M now has the turf field so Michigan Stadium and the 107,000+ and the closer proximity to Detroit would make it the better choice. I would think that either Comerica Park or Ford Field would be better suited for the game. Ford Field will have the 2010 Frozen Four there so they should at least have a game or two to try it out.

Your Top 5 Worst-Run NHL clubs

    5. Phoenix Coyotes Let's face it, Wayne Gretzky may have been the great one ON the ice. But off the ice he's a terrible coach. Barry Smith should be coaching that team, especially after the Tocchet/Janet Jones Gretzky sports betting scandal. A lot of poor draft picks that don't pan out. Their minor league affiliate in San Antonio is equally as bad. 4. Los Angeles Kings Can the Kings settle in on a goalie... they used 5 last season. They haven't had a real star player, but they've got a couple of real quality young guys including Cammalleri, Frolov and Kopitar, but you can't win with just three 20+ goal scorers. And now after owning the SoCal hockey market for 40 years. The Ducks after just 13 seasons have been to the finals twice and won once. The Kings are now an afterthought AFTER the Ducks in SoCal hockey. 3. Columbus Blue Jackets The Blue Jackets will always be second fiddle to the fans behind OSU. Mostly because they don't win. The "new" factor has worn off of the Jackets and they have to start producing on the ice, which they haven't done anything on the ice since coming into the league in 2000. Doug MacLean's legacy will live long after his recent firing. Scott Howson has a lot of work ahead of him to clean up MacLean's mess. They did hire Ken Hitchcock as their head coach midway through the last season which was a step in the right direction. 2. Boston Bruins Let's face it, the Bruins are bad. The Bad News Bears of the NHL have been one of the most poorly run franchises in the last 5 years. Trading away one of their best players last year didn't help. Joe Thornton is the reason for the Sharks turnaround, and the Bruins demise. The GM spent 7 years in the Ottawa system, 5 as the team legal advisor and 2 as assistant GM. Dave Lewis was fired after one season. Great, give him nothing to work with and then fire him. Nice.. 1. Chicago Blackhawks When you have websites devoted to the ouster of your owner (www.wirtzsucks.com), you're sitting in a 20,000 seat arena with 8,000 empty, there are big problems. The Hawks are also dealing with the an AHL team in town that has outdrawn you and takes shots at you in their own advertising, the Chicago Wolves have had 3 games over the last season where the Hawks and Wolves were playing at the same time and the Wolves had higher attendance. The Wolves have also had ad campaigns that simply said...."Losing Bites." Every time the Wings are in town the arena does fill... with Detroit fans. The local radio station that airs the games are paid BY THE CLUB to carry the games, normally it's the station paying the team for the rights to carry the game. The Hawks buy the air time from WSCR (670 AM). The Hawks still don't carry home games on TV, even if they sell out. Look at some of the recent head coaching moves, Alpo Suhonen, Dirk Graham, Lorne Mollekan, Trent Yawney, Craig Hartsburg, Bob Pulford, Brian Sutter, and Denis Savard... That's since 1995. Eight head coaches in 13 seasons. Poor drafts, poor Free Agent decisions, poor GM's... AND FINALLY LAST BUT NOT LEAST.......POOR OWNERSHIP. They call him "Dollar Bill" for a reason. He's more interested in the bottom line rather than success on the ice.

    Predators not being sold?

Is anybody else besides me having a flashback to the movie "Major League" Maybe the Predators will be bad enough to the point of knocking attendance down to the point where they can move the franchise to Hamilton or Kansas City. Wait, now that the Predators fire sale is in full gear, I think we can safely say that the Wings have clinched a playoff spot for the 2008 playoffs.

Not neccessarily, If it was a match penalty it would be an automatic 1 game suspension. Oh look Pronger's acting like an *******.... I hope to god he never ever wins a cup. Am I the only one who really thinks that he should have never played again after his heart skipped a beat when the puck hit him in the chest while with the Blues in the playoffs against Detroit.

    Camera at the Joe

The Joe is the 5th oldest building in the league behind Mellon Arena (Pittsburgh which is getting replaced), the current Madison Square Garden (Rangers), Nassau Coliseum (Islanders) and Rexall Place (Edmonton) $57 million isn't bad for the 3rd largest arena in the NHL (seating capacity), only behind Montreal and Chicago. The Joe doesn't have the amenities as many other rinks do, we don't have the fancy scoreboards, comfortable seats, room to breathe. But do you really need those things when you've got the teams we've had over the last 15 years.

    &$(# off Versus

Good god. During intermission 1 and 2 Versus was so kiss ass to Anaheim and just drooling all over themselves about the Ducks, and suddenly when the Wings win the game they tuck their heads between their tails and said Detroit played smart. Hey Clement, Engblom, and Jones. SHUT THE f*** UP AND GET OFF MY SCREEN. If we wanted a one sided broadcast we would have wanted Ken and Mick, that way it would be in our favor. There I'm off my soapbox.

    Post-GAME 1: Red Wings 2, Ducks 1

Well, we're going to have to come up with a much better effort in game 2, both of our goals came off of bad bounces off of Anaheim (Sucks) players. Defense and PK was outstanding once again. First shift in game 2, put somebody out there and just nail Pronger and Selanne and make them pay as well.

    Goal horns

Yeah, nothing like using a song by a twice convicted child porn freak to celebrate your team scoring. I hate the fact that Grand Rapids has returned to it last year. But to use Green Day is just stupid, especially Holiday.
  18. Well, with Mike Babcock coming from the Ducks system, do the the Red Wings have an advantage in this series with Mike Babcock maybe having an inside knowledge on some of the duck young players. Some of whom he coached in Cincinnati and Anaheim.

    (#4) Griffins vs. (#1) Manitoba - Round 1

Game 7, Griffins start out flat. Take a lot of penalties - Moose score on one of the 4 first period power plays they got. Held a 1-0 into the third when Scott Parse ties it midway through the period. Grand Rapids looked like they took the lead a few minutes later. The puck appeared to be in the net prior to the Manitoba defenseman knocking the net off the moorings. Howard gives up a soft one with 6 minutes to go. After making a save on a breakway. Howard looked to hurt himself. manitoba would add another goal on a 3 on 1 rush. howard pulled for the 6th attacker. Empty netter makes it 4-1.
