If you're only scoring perfect masterpiece goals, you don't win a series. Every team needs lucky bounces and lucky calls. Samuelsson has won us like 5 playoff games thus far in his career on the strength of garbage goals alone. Babcock wants his guys to keep the puck on a hair trigger and shoot shoot shoot...because lucky bounces happen even on poor shots. It's a good strategy and I'm damn glad they play it.

Like Howe is Mr. Hockey, Yzerman is Mr. Detroit. I'm not sure there's anyone who loves this city and this region more than Yzerman, and he wasn't even born here! It isn't just what he put into the team and the sport that makes me admire him...it's what he's put into the COMMUNITY. We need a few more just like him.

Look at it this way - Wings depth gives us a HUGE advantage over the Penguins for this 3-games-in-4-nights stretch. They have a couple immensely talented guys...we have 4 deep lines to roll out. Go Wings.

I just don't think the Penguins are REALLY playing that much better this year than last year. Look at last year, they totally dominated their east conference rivals in the playoffs and still couldn't manage to beat Detroit. So they swept the Hurricanes - big deal. Detroit swept a team, too, and pretty much owned the Blackhawks despite losing our best defenseman, best defensive forward and best penalty killer. the fact is that the eastern conference has a long ways to go to match the prowess of the western conference. Pittsburgh could meet Detroit every single year for the next 5 years and get stunned every time, because the teams they play DON'T match up to the teams Detroit plays.

Thank goodness it wasn't a long OT! For the Wings' sake...and for my heart's sake! Congrats to the Blackhawks for their excellent season and the great fight they just put up! BRING IT ON PENGUINS...YOUR ICE SHEET JUST FREAKING MELTED.

Maybe I'm too optimistic, but I don't think Ozzy is seriously injured. I think it's likely that he was pulled as a precaution; we didn't need him in net since we were up by so much, and it was getting dangerous out there.
