Yeah you're right. We sure didn't need him this year at all?
-
Anyone else notice the guy from Chicago at 4:14 who throws the broom on the ice is Jim Belushi?

Whats your favorite "BAD" contract right now?
Chelios57 replied to Rick Zombos Ghost's topic in General
Really? As the playoff rounds go on, that contract is going to look better and better. -
The Lightning are doing a whole bunch of awesome arena renovations for next year. It looks awesome! I hope the Red Wings arena becomes the greatest hockey arena ever seen. They deserve it.

Man that is really too bad. Even as a Red Wings fan I loved to watch him play. So sad to see you leave so soon Peter. I'll always remember watching you play the game so great.
-
For someone who collects hockey pictures, I would LOVE for some links to High Res photos of this game. Especially Talbot getting beat down.

Thanks! Anyone know where I can find the vintage sweater version of this type of jersey? I know they have a vintage Wing logo one, and a D version. I've seen the DETROIT version before, just having trouble finding it online.

These aren't necessarily tied to location. They are however DIRECTLY tied to success. Most of the lower viewed teams have had little to no recent success. I went to a Florida Panthers game when they were fighting for a playoff spot. The fans went nuts.

You're missing the point. Yes he is a good player. Yes he hits hards. Yes he has a good shot, etc. He must be good, he's in the NHL. My only point is: every time I see him play, he's overreacting, whining, or taking dives. I don't like him.

I don't care about that. I'm just saying, I think Subban acts like a little kid on the ice every time I see him.
-
Between PK's bitching about a cut-lip in last year's playoffs, to some of his shenanigans this year... I can't stand him, seems like a whiny little kid. I couldn't stand to have a guy like that on my team.

I know. It's nothing against Larionov whatsoever. I just think the Canucks are grasping at straws for history. You want history, make it, don't reach for it. Who the hell celebrates a 40 year anniversary anyways. Who the hell retires Naslunds number? I'm just saying the Canucks don't have a rich history, but they're trying to make one. Start by sticking to one jersey style, with one set of colors...

This team seems to drum up history to feel important. Retire Stan Smyl's number? Seriously? Retire Markus Naslund's number? Seriously? Nothing at all against Larionov, but his relationship with this franchise is very minimal. If Luongo retired today they'd probably retire his number too.

THN: Zetterberg should be disciplined for skipping ASG
Chelios57 replied to edicius's topic in General
Ken Campbell is easily the worst writer at The Hockey News. -
Who are the Captains going to be? Also: No Zetterberg or Howard!?!? That's embarrassing.

Awesome!!

I've done countless research on this and the only logical explanation is that the Red Wings don't retire numbers of players who aren't in the Hall of Fame.

As a Thrashers fan this is one of the coolest ads I've seen them do! Very creative, very fun.
-
Unfortunately it looks like it's gonna get up to 37 with a snow/rain mix during the game
-
This is really common. The Pistons just recently did this to Cavailier fans in the playoffs. This is not a "only in Florida" thing. It happens much more often than you realize.
-
I used to be the biggest Kovalchuk fan in the world before he signed with New Jersey. What a terrible team for him to be on (and vise-versa).

As I die hard Thrashers fan, I think it simply comes down to winning. How great would the Wings attendance be if they played like the Thrashers have since their existence? They definitely support winning hockey: http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2mC_oPbXVs?fs=1&hl=en_US http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57dz_f2WW0Y?fs=1&hl=en_US Everyone remember how terrible Chicago, and Pittsburgh, and Washington, etc., etc. attendances were? This team has traded away Heatley, Hossa, Savard, and Kovalchuk. How do you think their attendance would be?
