If that's what happened that just garbage! How can a linesmen and a ref not near the play overrule a ref right over the play!

All I'm going to say is that the chant sounded AMAZING on television it was loud and very clear. GREAT JOB! And as much as the NHL wants this d-bag to be the next Wayne Gretzky he is not and will not ever have the class that Wayne does or the presence. I also don't remember anyone ever chantng Gretzky sucks even when they were losing.

The reason a Pens fan would start this thread is because they like their players are ****** bags. I can't wait for them to lose tonight and like their captain whine about it. By the time the Pens realize whats happening tonight it'll already be over. We Red Wings fans just like our team are experienced in winning the Cup. I wouldn't put any stock into what CBC says or anything that comes out of Toronto for that matter. I live there and I can tell you from listening to most of these guys talk on the FAN590 that most of what comes out of there mouths are only about 50% correct. Alot of what they were saying is speculation and the team will NEVER give any team permission to talk to Nill, Yzerman, or Holland while they are under contract. I remember just before Yzerman's last year a lot of these guys were saying that it was 90% done that Yzerman was going to retire a Senator even though on a Detroit sports show a day earlier Yzerman said what we all knew that he was going to finish a Wing. I could go on and on with rumours and stories that those three guys have told that have never come true but I'm tired and well I don't really want to. Remember that for some reason CBC has a real hate on for the Wings, well actually all the hockey media outside of Detroit apparently does so I wouldn't give stock in what anyone says about the Wings without solid proof.

First off its not Al that gets fined but the team. Heres what should happen, Every fan in that goes to the next home game (Hopefully game 1 of round 2) should buy a stuffed octopus and we should all wave them like we have been the towels. This is just like waving the towels but its also an F U to the NHL for making such a stupid ruling in the first place. Then When an octopi is thrown on the ice Al should raise it in the air, the NHL said he could wave it NOT that he couldn't hold it in the air and then with the other hand have a towel or flag and wave that instead. I hope that this fires the team up and they just go on to destroy everyone else from now on. Oh yeah and if this is an petition I'm signing too obviously. On a side note I have a theory as to why this has happened after 80+ years of tradition. Brian Burke who the NHL fears and bends over for complained about this last year and so I'm sure Nashville who are HUGE whiners as well complained too and seeing as how the NHL is bending over to make Nashville work has given in to them. I hope the Wings say fine, fine us and Al keeps getting to wave the octopus around.

Man I wish I could be there on Sunday but I due to buying my playoff tickets I can't. I hope that the fans are super loud screaming "Blackhawks Suck!" and the team completely destroys them and any playoff chance they have. That would be sweet payback.

I've been a fan since 1974. My Dad named me after Gordie Howe and he even sent Gordie a letter about naming me and Gordie sent a letter back thanking him. I still have the letter to this day. There isn't a room in my house that doesn't have something Red Wings and I've never leave the house without wearing something Red Wings. People really do need to chill out. Another first round exit? Yes that's happened in the past but it didn't happen last year. The Wings were in the final 4 so I wouldn't be to worried about this team. I actually think this team healthy is better than last years team and so we should do better already, anything after the trade deadline is bonus. Relax.

Then why bother signing him then? Detroit's problem right now is scoring and the Wings need a guy who can still consistantly score goals. Help Sammy?? Maybe for a game or two then it would be back to no production. Sound defenisvely? EVERYONE on the Wings plays pretty good defence that isn't wants wrong with the team. You don't lose 2 out of 3 games 1-0 and have a problem with defence.

This is a joke topic right? Because no one in their right might would want Fedorov to come back here. He is a broken down old hockey player and he's injury prone. The Fedorov now isn't even 1/4 of the player he was in Detroit. If Holland wastes one minute going after Fedorov over guys like Hossa and Sundin then he should step down from the GMs spot because he's lost his mind. I would try to get Darcy Tucker to waive his no trade clause in Toronto to come to Detroit before I would EVER approach Fedorov to return. And don't get me wrong I loved him when he was here and I still wear my Fedorov jersey, I actually wore it to a game this year against Carolinia but I want to see the Wings win the Stanley Cup not stroll down memory lane. Sundin wouldn't ask for his number because Datsyuk is a staple in the organization where Mats will be gone back to Toronto next year. Maltby's been with the team for years and would never be asked or expected to give up his number for Hossa. If Quincey didn't get dealt in that deal then he would probably give his number to Blake. If I need to explain why there is no point for you to read any further. Oh and Blake said he's wasn't interested in waving his no-trade and I believe that is solid because he's near the end of his career and in California which is where he wants to be. Sergei Fedorov wears 91, no current Wing wears 91. I would hate this BIG TIME! Fedorov is a broke old player that can't do anything close to what he used to. I can't believe that people think this is good? The only way I see Fedorov returning to the Wings is as a last resort if we don't get Hossa, Sundin or anyone else. Bryan McCabe wears 24, and of course Cheli wears 24. Yeah McCabe won't be leaving Toronto he's said that he doesn't care who wants him he's staying in Toronto. Holland was just on the FAN 590 here in Toronto and said that the rumour that was going around that Draper was going to Toronto for Raycroft is completely false. Holland also said he can't remember when the last time he ever spoke to anyone from the Leafs. THAT MEANS THAT THE WINGS AND LEAFS DON'T TALK!!!! Why the hell would any intelligent Wings fans want Raycroft on the team?? Come on people use some common sense when looking at these players it's embarrassing to see that Wings fans are just as stupid as Maple Leaf fans when it comes to subjects like this. If Raycroft was the goalie for the Wings we wouldn't have a hope in hell to win the Cup no matter who was in front of him. Raycroft can't steal games and he allows a lot of weak goals. If a bad team like the Leafs don't want him why would the Wings?

Yeah Whitney just signed a huge contract so I can't see him getting traded and what Koslov? One is a FA and the other Viktor signed in Washington. Personally I can't see that deal ever happening cause we would end up give up way too much for that and we don't need either of them.

Kindl, Ericsson and Quincy will be in GR that's pretty much a given. The first two need another year in the minors and even though Quincy deserves the spot after his great playoff he can go to the minors without having to clear waivers. Meech has to stay up with the big club or risk being taken on waivers and I really don't think the Wings want to lose him like they did Joey MacDonald last year. I don't know if Grigorenko will play on the second line but I admit I don't really know much about him like I do the everyone else but I don't think he's going to be playing with Datsyk unless he comes into camp and kills it.

Are you nuts??? He isn't worth that. He had a good week when he got traded to Calgary and then nothing. His lack of play helped the Wings beat Calgary last year. He's overrated and not worth 3.5 million. Thank the hockey gods that the Wings didn't pay that.

Hudler and Meech will be resigned and Quicney will spend most of the year in the minors because he can do so without having to clear waivers. Raycroft and Belfour suck I hope the Wings stay away from both. Howard had a terrible first half last year and the Wings want him to have a good full year in the minors before keeping him up with the big club. If Hasek doesn't sign we'll probably see Belfour here before Raycroft.

Well put elriqo28. A lot of the people here are just as bad as Leaf fans with all the crazy. Holland and the others know exactly what they are doing and when you actually stop to think about it we are in great shape. Most of our top guys are locked up we have a few needs that will be addressed either now or during the season. Personally I hope Holland keeps that 9 mil and waits until trade deadline day in March and then gets someone that can really help win the Cup.

Not a bad idea and its wouldn't cost much in comp. Compensation is given to the other team based on what the player made. So it's not like the Wings would be losing 5 first round picks or anything and besides Detroit for the most part does better drafting in the later rounds so to lose a couple first rounders for Penner might not be a bad idea. Oh and jaytan you are soooooooo wrong about Filppula and Franzen. I don't know what games you watched last year but those two were great for the minutes they got and with more minutes they will do even better.

Are you kidding me????? Owen Nolan is not anyone the Wings should pick up. He is one of the biggest pieces of garbage in the history of the NHL. Just ask the Leaf organization on how he got hurt and then screwed them around for a few years. No way if the Wings had signed him I would know something was wrong with management.

but the regular season counts too (unlike some Detroit fans believe). When was the last time the Wings had trouble making the top 4 in the West? How many times have "some Detroit fans" seen good or great Wings teams bow out in the first or second round? I think what those Detroit fans believe is true.

Why are the Wings bothering with Bertuzzi!! They should take that money and sign Smyth. Bertuzzi's health is going to be a problem forever and there is no point in signing him when a great player like Ryan Smyth could be a better job. Hey shadow47 I think Holmstrom is great but he's not better than Ryan Smyth. He would be great in Detroit and would become a fan favourate fast.

Sign Hasek, Smyth and Markov. IF the Wings get Smyth they won't have any need for Bert. Markov is key and with the signing of Rafalski I doubt the Wings will sign a 3rd D-man. As for Captain Canada well he's awesome so signing him would be way better than signing Bert. I liked him last year but for the money Smyth is a better deal and Bert is probably asking for a lot more than he's shown the last few years. Hasek worries me. He want's a lot more money then I think he's worth. I would sign him for about 1.5 and then give him the rest in incentives but I wouldn't pay him for then 1.5 up front. This guy has a bad groin that even though survived last year could go at anytime and I think the lower price with bonuses keeps him from pulling a "Hasek" and being a problem.
