This is just further proof, to me, that come playoff time, we should continue this switch off with the goalies. I don't understand why people think once the playoffs start, you MUST have a #1 goalie. If these two are feeding off one another and having friendly competition (which I totally believe is the case here) then lets keep it going in the playoffs. I'm tellin ya, Ozzie has a chip on his shoulder for us releasing him, for Dom, and Dom's got a chip because he's not the #1 goalie, full time. Just keep switching off, it really should work.

The problem is - the coaches want all players to shoot the puck. They'd rather see a shot then that extra pass. But they don't want you taking stupid shots, I.E. wristers from the blue line with 0 traffic. In the NHL, those do not go in...well, they shouldn't...but you get my point. Coaches want hard shots, with traffic in front, or from in close, from all players. Sammy just takes crappy shots.

I think you're on to something - however you can only have 6 playoff teams if you want 2 to have a bye, per conference. However, I've wanted to cut the size of the amount of playoff teams down for as long as I can remember. I don't think the method Baseball uses would work in the NHL but football, I could see. Even the old Basketball playoff method might work where we have shorter first rounds. I just think the NHL playoffs are too long and dragged out, leaving very little emphasis on the regular season.

I know what you mean, but to take a page out of Dave Dombrowski's book, if you can get a Peter Forsberg, you get him. If you can't, you're still happy with what you have. Not quite what he said but for you Tiger's fans, you know what I mean. That being said, Kenny should try to get him, regardless of Mac. If Mac does (and I think he will) get into shape and ready to play for the Wings come playoffs, all that does is add depth. Let me just ask, would anyone here rather have Hudler and Kopecky? Or Forsberg and McCarty with those two as possible depth? I think I'll take the 2nd choice.

Foote?? do we remember the last time a former Avs D-man came here? ....lol Nah in all honesty, he'd be a great addition, I think he's a great d-man and would help solidify our blueline even more. That being said, just b/c he sat out doesn't meant thats a guarantee he'll be traded obviously, he might be ailing a lil - no reason to tell the media something that he'll be over in a day or two.

I kind of forgot about him needing a two way contract...that being said, in order for him to possibly be called up then, doesn't he need a two way contract before the trade deadline? Or since he's "Red Wings property" so to speak, could they offer him that contract at any time before the playoffs?

As long as the wings don't lose their entire fanbase and stay under the cap - Z will be a part of this team. He's being groomed for the captaincy and well, he's just damn good.

I really like the sound of this - now that he's with the Griffins, doesn't this mean we can call him up whenever, even after the trade deadline? The hell w/ making a trade, let him get a few games in and then get him up here! I really think this is going to happen!
