You know, I was thinking something interesting yesterday. What would the league do if Crosby got injured before the Winter Classic?

The Devils are truly the worst "should-be-a-decent-team" in the league. Whereas the Isles are just the worst "it's-no-surprise-they're-awful" team in the league.

Well, I did say that the Devils would probably be out of the playoff hunt by X-Mas. I may very well be correct in that. They have no goaltending at all (Marty's decline started the past three postseasons and has finally stretched into the regular season) and now saddled with that horrendous Kovalchuk contract, they're screwed salary cap-wise for the next decade and beyond.

Something interesting I read on Twitter yesterday from one of the hockey columnists (think it was someone from TSN, can't remember)... In a survey of a bunch of NHL players, when asked who they thought was the best player in the league, they overwhelmingly answered...Pavel Datsyuk. EDIT: And before anyone says it, I know the Hart isn't for the best player in the league - it's for the player who means the most to his team, which I begrudgingly admit, is Crosby. Only because of the utter lack of depth on that team.

That's equally ridiculous. What is going on with the officials this season? I mean, they've always been bad, but they're being extraordinarily bad this season. Maybe they all now realize that after the Campbell e-mails, there truly is no accountability in the NHL and as such, they can be as s***ty as they want as long as they don't piss off "Colie".

I'll say it again - we were the last WC team to experience a 3-game losing streak this season. It could be a lot worse. If we lose to the Devils on Saturday, then I might be more inclined to hit the panic button.
