Pittsburgh jersey...an ugly jersey for an ugly team. But of course, every 13 year old girl in Pittsburgh is going to beg and plead mommy and daddy to get one. I still think the best WC jerseys thus far have been Detroit and Chicago.
-
Well, shoot, if that's the official criteria now, someone better warn Marty Brodeur. He's at a .901 SV% right now. Guess he better retire.
-
I'm here, just haven't been typing since I'm setting up a new nettop media center. Gotta say it's nice to see Ozzie stonewall the Coyotes after that 1st period.
-
Don't tell Atlanta that.
-
Wow, and here I thought Homer was only going to end up with one goal called back tonight. We might have two or three!
-
But, but, but...I thought they reviewed every goal in Toronto? Bang up operation they're running there.
-
He already has a reputation (be it undeserved or not, considering he was in Atlanta) for being a coach-killer and now he's being called out by a former teammate and captain for not being a team player? Wow. Keeps getting more and more intriguing.

And the Devils still suck. At this rate, I'm betting they're out of the playoff hunt by Christmas.

I can hop on the train here where I work and I can be at the Rock in about 35 minutes or so. Hockey's popular enough when it comes to the Rangers, but not the Devils. Most people I meet who claim to be Devils fans (including my brother-in-law) seem to know absolutely nothing about the team, be it their record, players, etc. I can spout off more information than they can and I certainly don't religiously follow the Devils. At the game I was at, the upper bowl seemed to be pretty decently populated. But the lower bowl where I was at? Wow...there was just...no one. Keep in mind, it was Columbus Day and a 4pm game time, but still. Attendance for the game was reported at 12,880, but that really seems a bit high from what it looked like there (and the only more sparsely-attended game this season was against Colorado with a count of 12,221). It's a shame too, because it's a fantastic new arena and if tickets were a little bit cheaper, I'd go a lot more often. Well, I know a big part of this has to do with Kovalchuk having played for Atlanta, but he is a career -78.
-
Zing! Sadly, during that game, the "Let's Go Pens!" chants were louder than any subsequent chants for the Devils.
-
I love it, it's a fantastic looking jersey.
-
Well, he certainly got booed pretty loudly at the Rock a few weeks ago.

Here's my list: Ovechkin (home) Ryan Miller (home, 3rd) Lilja (Wings, home) Shanahan (Rangers, home) Zetterberg (Winter Classic) Osgood (Islanders, away) Almost had a Habs Halak jersey, but the seller backed out and shortly thereafter, he went to the Blues. Used to have a load more (two Shanny, Yzerman, Lidstrom, Hasek, D-Mac, Chelios) but I ended up selling them on eBay a while back. If he re-signs with Jersey, my next one will probably be a Parise home jersey.
-
'twas a PPG, though, so no -1 for Lils. He actually ended the game even. (I can root for him, just not the Ducks. )
-
We're not really like that here, I swear. Well, most of us anyway.
-
Because they're stuck with him for another couple of seasons...and there's no sign that Lamoriello's been looking toward the future with goaltending. Clemmenson would have been perfect to groom as the next number one goaltender in New Jersey (as evidenced when Brodeur went down with that elbow injury), but by throwing him back on the bench when Brodeur came back and barely letting him get a sniff of the net, they had to let him go. I think they're going to end up being one of those teams (and there are many in the league today) that seem to have a different tandem of goaltenders every season after Brodeur is gone. The funny thing is that I was thinking the exact same thing with this thread title.

Pretty much what I was thinking too. Either Parise gets a payday and the supporting cast thins out even further or they lose one of their best players and have to replace him via trade or free agency - and seeing the clusterf*** that Jersey is right now, I'd venture to guess that it's not a preferred destination for a lot of players. And it still doesn't address one of their gaping problems - the guy in net. Brodeur is average at best these days and more often, he's below average. He's not going to steal a game for you anymore, especially behind Jersey's crap defense (to which Kovy now contributes with his lack of defensive play). Even if the Devils do make it into the playoffs this year (which, given how they've looked thus far, might be a longshot), Brodeur will just crap out in the first round as he has for the past three years. He's signed until 2012, I believe, with no future tender in sight for them. Ultimately, the Kovalchuk contract is part of the problem (in addition to the murmurs that have existed since he was in Atlanta that he's uncoachable), but the Devils have a whole load of problems on their plate in addition to him.

The backlash on this poor, poor woman is almost, I dare say, /b/ like. And I love it.

You expect to hear stories like this about the Islanders. But I'm not as surprised with this, honestly. Lamoriello's had problems with the salary cap ever since it was instituted and it's totally caught up with him now. Brodeur will be gone within a couple seasons (though some could argue he's already gone, what with his sub-par play this season and the past few playoffs) and the Devils will be without any kind of remotely reliable goaltending. They're probably going to lose Parise at the end of the season (who's really their only consistently good player right now) or possibly be forced to trade him at the deadline if they're out of the playoff race at that point, which isn't a stretch. Jersey will turn into the new Atlanta - a team with an overrated superstar and no supporting cast to speak of. It's kind of a shame too, because I was just recently starting to enjoy watching Devils games. I'm willing to bet Lou ends up behind the bench again, which will just be a recipe for more disaster.

Oooh, I like the looks of that #6 so far.
-
If I calculated right, looks like I got 13 points. Only really impressive day was Sunday where I went 3-for-3 plus my x2 game (thanks for sucking again, Devils! ).

St. Louis beats Pittsburgh 1-0 in OT.
