Sure, why not? - Toronto makes the playoffs, sweeping Round 1, only to get swept out in Round 2. - Los Angeles wins the Presidents' Trophy. - Sidney Crosby goes 20 games without a goal. - Jarome Iginla suffers a season-ending injury less than a month into the season. - The Kovalchuk situation proves detrimental to the Devils and they miss the playoffs by a point...to the New York Islanders. - The first coach to be fired this season will be Joel Quenneville. Taking a note out of Lou Lamoriello's playbook, Stan Bowman becomes interim coach.

Crosby doesn't suck but he's a whiney little bitch, however.

WHY ARE WE YELLING? But yeah, the bizarre threads that have been popping up are just a sign that we're truly ready for the offseason to end and for the regular season to get into full swing. Of course, be it offseason, regular season or postseason, one thing is constant - Crosby's still a whiny little *****. -

I live for these threads. -
Shouldn't we have missed the playoffs after winning the Cup in '97 then?

Poor guy. I liked Clouts.

One of the ideas I like is the line change zone. Would definitely make too many men calls a little bit more cut and dry.
-
*coughPittsburghcough* That said, the idea would never fly, especially in the latter half of the season with weekend games on NBC. They have enough problem with OT games in the playoffs. During the regular season, they'd just cut the game for horse racing again.

I'll be right with you on that. I'm certain that our PK is going to go right back down the crapper without Lilja on the ice unless Salei's a prolific shot-blocker.

I saw a kid at Starbucks the other day wearing a Devils Kovalchuk jersey-style t-shirt. Poor kid.

Forsberg eyeing another NHL comeback?

Give it up, Pete. It didn't take the other four times. It's time to let it go. -
I'm with you on that. I think the general consensus around here was that Babcock was never a Hudler fan. Color me shocked.

I thought the Isles signed Wis, though I could be misremembering that.

I'm just surprised that Turco bit on this one after rejecting the Philly deal for more money.

It's official, via TFP's Twitter: Games against Chicago are going to be extra fun now.

Can't I just laugh at Brian Burke instead?

Sometimes during GDTs when I crucify a player, I actually feel really bad afterward thinking that, rare the chance may be, the player could see it and get bummed out. I know it sounds stupid, but it's why I lightened up a bit on players like Lebda from time to time. They're still human and all that and who am I to bash their hockey skill (or my perception of their lack thereof)? Does that make sense? And I want to send O'Halloran a Holmstrom jersey.
-
Come on, don't sign Theodore - sign Turco!

Well, Boston has 48 hours to yea or nay it, so we'll see what happens. What's their cap situation like? This seems like a really fair ruling to me.

KHL President offers Kovalchuk 17-year deal, choice of team

Koval-who? -
You better believe I would have been camping out for tickets for that one.

Talbot is a douchecanoe.

I'd still think it was unfair to other more deserving teams that haven't yet had the honor of playing in a WC. 2009 was fun, but Detroit shouldn't play in another one until, at the very earliest, 2019. Yes, that means that at least 20 other teams will get to play in a WC before Detroit and/or Chicago would get a second one. Pittsburgh should have to wait until 2018. And so on. Of course, I understand that the feasibility of that is tricky with teams in the South basically needing to have rivalries with teams in the North due to temperature concerns and to be honest, I can't see that working. If not 10 years between repeat WCs, at least 5 years then. Which means that Pittsburgh would still have to wait until 2013 instead of getting shoved down our throats 3 years apart.

Well, Talbot would be an expert on douchedom...

Once I saw that Dater created this list, I knew hilarity would ensue. I wasn't disappointed.
