How long will it take Ericsson to recover from surgury?
edicius replied to Headmanthepuck!'s topic in General
Yeah, not sure how you guys missed that. Any time Big E got mentioned, it was also mentioned that he'd be back the next game, whether it was against Chicago or Pittsburgh. But yeah, he'll be back for Game 1. I'm more curious if Lilja could potentially be back for this series. And more worried that Lids may not be. -
Nope, only time I ever did it was with the Red Sox in '07. Never done it with the Wings.

Help! name of song wings played after the overtime goal tonite!
edicius replied to TimC11's topic in General
Eww, I feel dirty now too. -
Yeah, good luck. The only bar I've ever been to here in Jersey that would let me watch Wings games (or hockey in general) is no longer around due to some sort of tax violations (the Sagebrush Cantina in Cedar Knolls). And even then, it was probably only because I was tight with the bartender at the time. If there's a Yankees or Mets game going on (which there always seems to be), there's no shot at getting them to change. 99% of the time when I mention hockey out here, I'm met with responses of "Oh, that's still going on?" If anything, you might luck out more somewhere in NYC, but I can't think of any place specifically.

ORLY? *ahem* "WAAAAAAAAAH! THEY'RE THROWING TOO MANY HATS!!! MAKE 'EM STOP!!!" Yeah, we've heard that for the past decade. While winning two Cups in that timespan. Try again.

Avs offer Head Coach, GM position to Patrick Roy
edicius replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
The Denver Post is reporting that Roy has turned down the Avs' offer. http://blogs.denverpost.com/avs/2009/05/27...-coming-to-avs/ -
The pic shows Malkin, Gonchar AND Crosby all holding it right now. They're just tempting fate now.

Not on NHL Live today. They actually laughed off the idea of Ozzie even being considered for the Conn Smythe, trying to claim that he's been merely "okay". Ironically, it was right after they finished fellating Marc-Andre Fleury. Of course, those two couldn't understand a joke that a caller made referring to "Bettman's daughter" on the Penguins ("Huh? Is she a defenseman or a forward? I don't get it."), so I don't give them much credit for...well, anything.
-
Best of luck to him. One of the greats.

Speaking of yapping during play... The puck was in play at one point last game, lots of movement and action going on...and the play-by-play was discussing the Penguins (and more specifically, Crosby and Malkin), basically from the faceoff until the next whistle. For at least two minutes straight. And people wonder why we're sick of hearing about Crosby and the Penguins. There's a time and a place for it - and that wasn't it.

Huh. Garth Snow was a trendsetter. -
Yup, saw that on Puck Daddy today, didn't see it in game though. That's just random hilarity and I love it.

Well, now at least I have a player on the Hawks that I genuinely dislike. Had he played against Vladdy, he probably would have called him gutless too. Scott Stevens. as well. Don't you have to actually know the game of hockey to play? Someone should ask that of Campbell.

On NHL Hour this coming Thursday... Bettman: "Our referees are the best in sports, they're not perfect but they get it right 99.9% of the time..." Caller: "Then why did they get it wrong against the Red Wings over 50% of the time in Friday's game?" Bettman: "Our referees are the best in sports, they're not perfect but they get it right 99.9% of the time..." Caller: "But I just asked-" Bettman: "Our referees are the best in sports, they're not perfect but they get it right 99.9% of the time..." Caller: "Am I even talking to a real per-" Bettman: "Our referees are the best in sports, they're not perfect but they get it right 99.9% of the time..." Caller: "You know, you're a real-" Clement: "Oops, looks like we lost the caller!" Bettman: "Our referees are the best in sports, they're not perfect but they get it right 99.9% of the time..." Clement: "You're so right, Gary."

Ah, so you admit that you don't even pay attention to the other goings-on in the league. Par for the course, I suppose.

That's how my wife sees him. She doesn't know him as Sidney Crosby, but as "that guy who looks like a kid-toucher".
-
Just saw this on TSN too - it would be BOTH Niedermayers, not just Scott. So now he's added a whole new dimension to this whole waiting game of his...will he retire? And if he doesn't, Anaheim or Vancouver? Stay classy.

I would LOVE to watch hockey with Andreas. If you're reading this, I've got a spot on my couch for ya and a spare bed downstairs. (too creepy? )

I gathered from Babcock's post-game presser that it would be Abdelkader, just the way he mentioned him before Maltby's return.
-
Heh, yeah, he did answer one of my vitriol-filled e-mails a number of years ago. I'll give him props for that, but little else.
-
And isn't he originally from Michigan? Trying to remember. Thought he grew up a Wings fan or something and now can't stand picking them to win anything.

Just snapped a pic. I look surly because I'm still at work.
